Some interesting tidbits. Though I'm not a Rain fan, I'm genuinely sorry for his fans. Even though it doesn't seem like Boon outright deconfirmed him, it's pretty much obvious that Edenian Prince is out.
As for the new ality, I'd honestly be happy with either Brutalities or Animalities (I'm a huge fan of werewolves and such). And if it's a reinstated ality, then it pretty much has to be one of these two (Friendships aren't something Boon would be teasing us so much about).
Looks like the main heroes will indeed return at some point, which makes their offering as DLC all the more likely (since their updated "alive" models will be featured during the storymode most likely). Unless all these descedents are coming from the evil characters who survived MK9, but I don't see that happening.
Overall, good find, Jaded.

I have no strong feelings on Rain, everyone else seems to love him or hate him.
With how much I loved Babalities in the last game, I'd be happy to see either Friendships or anamalities, I don't think calling either of these things nonsensical is a legitimate criticism since thats kind of the point of these non-canon, just for fun, finishing moves.
Edit: Okay, I just watched the video, if you listen to what he says about Rain it makes it sound like he was saying he would be unlikely to be DLC again. maybe he could actually be part of the game this time?

Aww bad news for Rain fans if he is indeed out. My condolences guys. Still no confirmation of Miss Blade so my fingers, toes and balls are crossed that she'll make it.
Would be nice if Mileena returned as well after the fuck up that was her retcon in MK9. Cheers for the link JadedRaven.

I won't lose sleep over not having Rain, but he was one of the best in MK9. I'm happy they made him the best they could have.
So, which leads me to ask, why was Ed teasing Rain all this time on twitter with the PURPLE and RAIN references? Just trolling as usual I guess.

Dude, animality's, are not confirmed in the slightest. Jaded was stretching far when saying they were hinted at because that would mean IGN had some inside information.
They just plugged in a clip of a random -ality from the past, just happened to be animality.

Characters who have been killed in MK9 could appear in MKX as DLC, but it doesn't mean that they will have any kind of story and will participate in the main plot.
I think, if they return, they will be storyless bonus characters, with token non-canon ending for the arcade mode. Something, that I have supported for the last decade: if you want to include characters who have benn canonicaly killed, just make them "bonus fighters" without the story. Problem solved.
No need to butcher plot to ressurect them, no need to force them into the plot somehow. Everyone will be satissfied, well except for the people who want to see their characters as part of the story, but you can't have everything. If you have your character playable in the game, I don't think it will be critical problem if he has story or not.
I honestly think it's going to be Brutalities that return. If you remember when all the sound bites from MK9 were leaked, Brutality was among them and yet wasn't in the game. To me that said that they were at least working on them. I wouldn't be upset if Animalities or Friendships returned though.
As for Rain, he didn't really say that he wasn't in the game, just that he won't be DLC. So hopefully there is a chance he'll still be there.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. Brutalities were dropped in MK9 due to time constraints, but the voice file was still in the game.
If anything, brutalities would be much less work than animalities, as they wouldn't require separate models and such.
Regardless, I can't wait for the reveal, whatever and whenever it may be.

I agree. However, my point was that since Boon keeps mentioning "sons and daughters and cousins", and pretty much all the Earthrealm heroes were killed during MK9, I have to believe those same heroes will have to be resurrected at some point in the story (so they can have those sons and daughters).
The alternative is that Boon is talking about MK4-MKD Earthrealm heroes having kids, or he's talking about the plethora of villains that survived MK9...both of which I find highly unlikely. Maybe one or two evil offspring, but probably not more than that imo.
Thus, we'd have to have the original Earthrealm heroes back in order to have descendents.
I'd be more than happy if those heroes were storyless DLC...but it just sounds to me like they'll be in the story at some point, probably resurrected, and then offered as DLC down the road.

It's a shame about Rain. I think they did a really good job with him to redeem him just like they did with Stryker. However he could just mean that Rain won't be DLC again and this time in the main game, idk Boon is a tricky tricky trickster.
Does anyone here remember those cut Announcer lines from MK2011?
Fujin and another ality (I forget which)

Rain de-confirmed. Bummer. Boon likes to troll about characters potentially being in, but when he flat out says "no" or "not very likely", he isn't joking. I would think that since he sold so well for MK9, you'd think they'd bring him back for this game....or at least make him DLC again to milk that purple cash cow once more.
But what gets me is when Boon talked about descendant characters. Characters. Plural. And how they interact with their relatives. The Sonya, Johnny, and Cassie thing feels like enough. Don't tell me this is going to become Mortal Kombat: Fighting Families. But I guess this is potentially good news for Mileena and Baraka fans about their chances of making the roster...and maybe shokan fans as well (and I loves me some Sheeva!).

Yeah I can't stand when people say Animalities are nonsense but act like the other ones aren't. Giving the opponent you just savagely beat nearly to death a present isn't absurd? Hitting a guy until he somehow explodes isn't ridiculous? And of course, magically turning the opponent into a baby isn't crazy either?
I'll admit Animalities are the most "out there". But MK is built on over the top outrageous stuff. The only legitimate argument against Animalities is that they would most likely all be about eating the opponent. But with NRS' creativity and technology, they could make Animalities a gruesome finisher that is different for everybody.
I actually want Friendships to return more than the others. Its always good to mindfuck the opponent after nearly killing them. Plus I would love to see what these new characters would do for their Friendships.
Brutalities are the dumbest finisher to me. Repeated animations that speed up randomly until the opponent explodes. Funny at first, but they lacked any originality. If they were to return, I'd certainly hope NRS could individualize the Brutalities among the characters.
And Babalities are a definite no. NRS is pushing new and Babalities are old. Kinda sucks because baby Ferra/Torr would've been so interesting to see.

Rain has less chance of being in MKX because NRS wasnts to introduce new characters and Rain was DLC in MK9 so his chances were even slimmer then a character from the main roster. Not a good precendent for the other DLC characters. Only Kenshi probably has better chance since he was introduced in Deadly Alliance.
Another returnig finisher will be introduced. If I had to bet, I would put money on Brutalities. Friendships in my opinion do not fit in with the dark and gritty tone that MKX seems to have. Animalities seems too clownish. Brutalities would fit in and they could show off the games detail with all the ways that the characters can be mutalated.

Ed Boon's exact words are: "We are going to be re-instating an ality". That suggest to me that it is going to be ressurecting a finisher from earlier games.
Initially I though it will be new -ality, but now it looks like it can be something from the past. Personally my money on Brutality. It was planned to appear in MK9 and seems was some sort of QTE-type finisher. I am not sure how it can be made different from Fatalities, but I am sure NRS can figure out something.
I think they can just bring some relatives of killed characers. Like, dunno, sister of Jax or Stryker's brother...something like that.
Personally I don't see point in ressurecting characters and then essentially give their place in the story to their children or relatives. Besides, their deaths could be easily written as reasons why those aforementioned relatives decided to particpate in new MK events in the first place. Like, maybe, said Jax's sister wants to avenge death of her brother or something like that.
I am not big supporter of turning Mortal Kombat into Families Feud Kombat, but in the end it all depends on execution. And I am pretty sure, that there will a child of Baraka and Mileena.

That's all fine and good, and I'd welcome a sister or brother getting involved in the events.
But...
Boon said *sons and daughters*, not *brothers and sisters or moms and dads*.
That's the sticking point. Again, would love to see a brother or sister (and we probably will see one), but we're going to see a lot more sons and daughters, and people have to have sex for that to happen...and dead people don't have sex (or, at the very least, can't procreate). And with most of the heroes dead, that leaves us with a Baraka child, Mileena child, Reptile child/cuz, Goro child, Kintaro child, Quan Chi child (*shudders*), Sheeva child, and a Sektor child.
And I don't see them using all the baddies as progenitors. Maybe one or two, but not all.
So, someone's going to have to be rez'd at some point.
