I might be the only one, but I kinda miss the appearance of the MK9 females. The high heels were ridiculous, sure, but I think some sexuality suited them. Now that we have seen the females in this game, a lot of the costumes are underwhelming, like Jacquie and Cassie.
They could have taken the sexuality down a notch but now they seem to have done a 180. The MK universe is similar to comic books in terms of costumes so I don't see why a little overt sexuality got everyone so riled up, especially in a game like MK.
Hopefully we see some better alternates for the ladies.

They cited the reason as to fit the story they wanted to tell. Even so, conservatively dressed doesn't always equal non-sexy

MK9 females were walking nightmares.

They all had Mileena syndrome last time though. I just find it strange that Kitana doesn't have pants unlike the rest of the ninjas since she was the first one to wear them in Deadly Alliance outside of her ninja clothes.

Ethereal, ravenous, piercing. It's Mileena bitch.

This is the best the females have ever looked immune opinion
They all wear exactly what their characters would wear which is much less distracting
My female friends hated the mk9 costumes even more than me and me best female gamer friend actually wouldn't even play a female.character in mk9
It's not like mkx's costumes are completely conservative. Mileena is still looking quite sexy and still has her heels and Tanya is showing off a good bit of mid rif

Welcome to the minority, Reptilefan. Overt sexuality has no place in a fighting game where there is genuine conflict and warriors are actually fighting to the death. You say that a little sexuality doesn't hurt and it doesn't. That's what MKX dictates. The females are dressed respectfully with a touch of sensuality and some actual class. The shameless display and glorification of T&A in MK9, however, was ridiculous and, frankly, embarrassing. Leave all of that stuff to games like Dead or Alive. There's a game that fully embraces what it is.

Deadly Alliance is actually when they started going for the big breasts and over-sexualized costumes. I must admit after 15 years it is a little weird seeing MK females that actually have proportionate bodies now lol.

The overall design is better now, though slightly big tits would have been welcome to me.

I call that look 'The Ratchet Hoe'.

What the manly look with massive boobs, impractical outfits and needed up faces? Mkx has greatly improved on the female looks imo

I don't. Not only were the "MK 9" female designs overtly sexual to the point of ridiculousness, they weren't even good looking. Kitana's get-up was like a bad cosplay. Sonya's 'military' outfit with the tiny, cleavage baring top and stiletto heels was beyond silly. The curiously unsexy, manly bodies and faces were the icing on the cake. They looked like cheap, trashy strippers.
Please note that from me, this is not coming from a tumblr SJW perspective; my favourite designs for the female ninja characters are the "MK 2/3" era (which were quite sexy) and my favourite Sonya outfit is from "MK 4", crop top and all. But the combination of the increasingly unnecessary bells and whistles added to everyone's costumes from "Deadly Alliance" onward *and* the OTT sexiness was too much last time.

I agree with you, I too miss the look of MK9 females, and yes they could have at least found a balance for everyone like in Deception, but instead they folded and argue about taking the 'realistic' approach to one of the most over the top games out there...
since they took out the sexiness, then people will complain about the violence and maybe they'll take that out too next time...
Regardless, I'm still looking forward to the game and can't wait to play it...

I don't miss the females MK 9 look, it was just over the top and stupid imo. And I dont understand why people think females have to be half naked to ooze sex appeal. A woman in a full figured uniform can be sexy also

I didn't mind them being sexy or barley clothes but after seeing Kitana and Mileena's MKX costumes, I realized how ridiculous they really looked in MK9 lol I honestly think they look better in everyway now.

The OP is clearly an idiot, but I like how people keep talking about Kitana like she is wearing a jump suit this time around compared to her MK9 attire.
You're not the only one!
Who is in the minority, majority etc it's hard to say. I imagine many are indifferent. There's certainly a vocal group on this board who like the way things have gone, but doubt this is an unbiased sample of players!
i feel they've probably taken on board cricism voiced on this board, which I didn't agree with, and gone out to intentionally make a game specifically designed for not me, which sucks, but there's no pleasing all of the people all of the time. These days, how good a games is is a lot down to gameplay and artistic decisions. The longer a series is, the less likely the most recent is your favourite, but I'd still prefer things went my way. I'd also like that game makers had some backbone and just made what appealed to them, without cowtowing to perceived pressure, but realise that those working for in big corporations don't have this luxury.
To me, new super-dowdy Sonya seems like an impostor, a protest, like they're saying "you want dowdy? here you go!", yet people (at least some here) are lapping it up! FWIW, showing skin isn't a big deal for me. I can take it or leave it. I freaking love high heels though! Loved Sonya's MK9 look, and the dress uniform outfit from the 3D MKs. Looking at MKX, I can't help but see marketing dept. decisions that likely led it to be that way, which really grinds my gears.
I like how the MK games of past were a FU to naysayers. They were over the top, unapologetically riduclous and glamourous action, played half straight. Like the Fast and Furious movies! Maybe next people can lobby Vin Diesel to make the cars in the next movie different shades of grey with performance more representative of average cars an older person might drive.
At this point, MK has dropped below my "would rather be doing something constructive" level, but it's not the end of the world. Maybe I'll get round to making a fighting game I want. Something like mugen with support for .xps models or something would really kick ass. This may or not come to anything.
