In Mortal Kombat terms, no, Tanya is not a ninja.

Here are who I'd consider ninjas:
Males: Scorpion, Sub Zero, Reptile, Ermac, Noob Saibot, Smoke, Rain, Chameleon, Tremor. + Cyber ninjas: Sektor, Cyrax.
Females: Kitana, Mileena, Jade, Khameleon, Skarlet, + Frost.

"Ninja" in MK generally refers to if they're originally a palette swap. Skarlet counts because she's based off the red female ninja rumor, and Frost is a female swap of Sub Zero. Not really that hard to figure out.

Because of the new shoulder pad outfits the ninjas have now, Reiko`s outfits retroactivly makes Shao Kahn a ninja, especially now that he`s in Ermac. Erron Black is a ninja.


Liu Kang reminds me of a red ninjer also...

While it’s true that Ambassador Tanya doesn’t wear the traditional ninja mask, she’s no doubt the 4th female ninja added to the series and in addition, she’s the last female ninja from the 2D era of MK. In case y’all didn’t know this: Mortal Kombat 4 marked the end of the 2D era for the series/franchise. To further provide proof of my point: Think of the TMNTs. Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo are all “ninjas” yet their traditional ninja masks are bandannas. This falls more in line with Tanya. Tanya’s traditional ninja mask is sorta like a bandanna only instead of an ACTUAL bandanna, she wears a BLACK MASCARA MASK over her eyes.
