A lot of the characters have moves borrowed from other characters. Cyber Smoke, Reptile, Ermac, Li Mei, etc etc.

But I have seen some recycled animations, just like Injustice used some from MK9.

The worst case of that is Ermac and his Injustice Superman movement. They had the animations ready so they just pasted it. I think it was the only reason.

I think they decided not to put Jade into the game and thought that they will make fans happy by giving her moves to Kitana.

On the other hand they made some changes that I think were unnecessary. I dont know why they did change Reptile's force ball animation. It was so characteristic for this character...

I disagree. He floats in his MK9 win animation and in his special moves. I think it's a nice touch for his character.

I do agree that they shouldn't have changed Reptile's reverse clapping animation. I always loved the look of that but maybe they'll change it before the game is released.

On move stealing though, I don't think NRS will ever stop doing that. They do that with A LOT of characters. I actually don't mind as long as they are not COMPLETE ripoffs, e.g., Kira and Jarek.

The fact that Kitana has a Jade variation makes sense story-wise, considering Jade is her best friend and she's doing it to honor her in some way. But gameplay wise, Jade was one of the worst characters in MKX. Unless they improve on that staff move set, it's a wasted variation.

She didn't exactly steal Jade's staff mind you. It was just sort of lying there, and Jade certainly wasn't coming back for it.

Square-wave punch and kiss fatalities were more shared than stolen. They've shared those kinds of moves within the same games, even.

Having long hair... is stealing from Sindel? Is no one else allowed to grow their hair long now? If it was prehensile hair I would understand. If it was black-and-white streaked, I would understand. But it really looks like you're reaching for examples by that point.

I agree that having her pounce-stab people like Mileena did in MK9 was a little odd. The animation was a little more elegant and less savage than Mileena's, but the resemblance does stand out.

Yeah prefer Reptile's old forceball animation as well.

Honestly it's not Kitana's fault, but the fact that NRS can't come up with unique special moves for a character with such an unique weapon is sad.
