His mask does look off in this variation, I don't like it one bit, It doesn't go with the rest of his outfit, at all. I hope they change this or just give him a whole new mask for this variation

It should just be ice covered, like when he freezes someone or himself. Ice crystals coming off, instead of a solid ice mask that looks like shit.

lol, got exposed. But honestly, sometimes there just isn't time to read the comments. I try to whenever possible, but sometimes I'm browsing the site on the move and it's not feasible to read the comments yet.

Gawd that mask...

I'm not much of a defensive player so this will be the last of his variations that I try. Although the ice shield seems pretty cool.

I'm not sure if the early development excuse even flies with me. It looks the mask was extracted from a PS2 game. I bet a freelance designer could make a better mask in less than two hours.

Yeah it shouldn't, especially since they mentioned that they're "ahead of schedule". It is just so unappealing to the eye, like it's contrast +100.

That mask literally takes all the attention away, and sticks out like a "sore thumb". I think this is the first genuine thing I do not like so far.

Exactly. It doesn't even really look like ice to me. It looks like someone cracked a couple of glow sticks on his face.

Same. This is the first and only thing I desperately want them to change. It's a cool idea it is just a poor poor execution.

It makes me wonder though.. should we expect that subby will not have a mask-less alt in this game. Or would his face be this awful bright white color? I wonder if alt costumes will have different variation gimmicks?

It's not that much of a bothersome to me.

I just want to throw ice clones all day... And maybe ram my shoulder into a few people.

I really hope the mask is just provisional. The plain textures feel really wrong with all that detail, and being soooooo white makes you only see that,

Not all variations need to be clearly marked (some of them are hard to catch in fact) because at the end you got the variation name next to the health bar ad character name.

I think it wouldn't be a problem for player to recognize this one if the mask was his blue and black cryo mask, maybe with a small amount of ice vapor but nothing else.

This one looks like lazy work right at the end after doing an amazing costume.

I hope the Grandmaster variation shows the finished medallion instead of the glowing Lin Kuei second badge that screams "I'm a provisional detail!!!!!"

Looks like a cool variation to try out. Run button fans beware.

The mask...needs a little modification.

Yeah the mask definitely glows too white but I guess it's supposed to represent the "ice armor" that the variation has. Maybe it'll look better in motion, being static makes it look copy and pasted on.

We've seen it in motion already and it looks like a giant white flag screaming: "HEY!!! I'M HERE TO TELL YOU WHICH VARIATION HAS PICKED SUB-ZERO!!! JUST TO BE CLEAR 'KAY!!!??"

Well yeah it's always high noticeable but I'm saying it looks even worse when we can just stare at it like this.

His cryomancer variation has purple highlights over his eyes and arms that he does not have in his unbreakable variation. It is probably glowing effects of his ice arms/body. I am liking cryomancer variation more and more.

I wished this variation had a combination of one of his Mortal Kombat 4's alternates where his arms and legs were covered in blue mist.

That was one of my favorite looks for him, that could have easily been something for this variation rather than have a glowing mask.

I'm no fan of Subbie's new looks and that shining white mask doesn't help at all... Just glad he's not going to be my main, so it's not something I'm going to be looking at the most.

That said, his variations are interesting and cool. I hope you Subbie fans are happy with him. ^^

I think it is worth mentioning that the "ice mask" is not just a new finish; it is an entirely different mask.

I think that's what they were going for in Cryomancer.

Not sure why, but to me that doesn't really make sense. Wouldn't it have made more sense to have his defensive variation be where he's covered in ice?

I like Sub-Zero's variations, and I hope that in this game, he'll be much more formidable and not feel so limited like in MK 2011. The Grandmaster variation is the one I'm still interested in the most just because of him being able to throw or detonate his Ice Clone though I am wondering what other features that variation will have. Unbreakable sounds nice, and I can see myself using that variation against annoying strong opponents. As for Cryomancer, I could find myself having a lot of fun with that variation as I do like the idea of a more rushdown Sub-Zero. I just need to work on good combos to make use of his tools.

Grandmaster is up, and will be probably my most played all due to throwing them clones!
