Imagine a character that is a werewolf. His realm could be at war with Nitara's realm. Here is the kick ass part though. His 3 fighting styles would be Human, Subhuman, Wolf. As you switched he would physically morph from human, to mid transformation, to full out werewolf. I think it would rule.

The idea was mentioned before MKD's release and I don't think a werewolf is necessary. MK shouldn't stray too far into the darker side of things. Vampires are enough and were probably an over neccessity imo.

I'll second that.
yeah mortal kombat already has its kicks and laughs but i guess i can see where your coming from we need more outworld devils aside from baraka i was just think that the other day they say that outworld is filled with monsters and ghouls yet we only get Baraka and the tarkatan horde and the centarians and the shokan i'de like to see more outworld demons but a werewolve i don't think so something more on the lines of devilsish so it would fit the mk universe.

Naw, a werewolf would bring about cries of "Jon Talbain ripoff" from those who've played DarkStalkers.

Frankly, I don't think Nitara should return, as her story is more or less done. The Vampire realm is free, and although there is a chance that Shao Kahn might attack again, prompting her return, I'd argue that it's more or less unnecessary. However if she does come back, her nemesis would most likely be Reptile, because she manipulated him, and if he survived his stint as the Dragon King's host body, I could see him going after her out of revenge.

I agree that werewolves would be going too far into the basic monster genre. Hell, why not introduce Frankenstein's Monster while we're at it? tongue

Nitara (hopefully) isn't finished... I can definitely see her becoming an Evil character, returning to her realm (which she freed from Outworlds interference) to unleash an army of vampires into Earthrealm. I'm not sure, though... Since there are already a few recent clans being established which need to make a debut. A game with too many of them would be too one-sided, IMO...

I dont see how mentionin Nitara bares ANY relevance to introducing Werewolves into MK...Sure they're both mythical creatures, but then if we're at it, oooo lets bring a faerie, or how about an evil pixie? Grrr

Nah..seriously

MK fxcked up when they got rid of Nitara, and they'd only screw up more by bringin in a Werewolf.

I don't think that would be a good idea. I can't imagine someone being a werewolf in MK. Hell, I didn't even like Nitara being a vampire.

But, it would be neat to see the character turn into a werewolf at The Pit. He would howl when he won.

...

nah. Not a good idea.

Nitara is based upon a rodjung of himalayan mythology. She has nothing to do with western vampires. Werewolf? No. Lycanthrophy? Perhaps.

normally a vampire as a character would ruin the game, however, Nitara managed to pull it off. but no amount of coolness would ever give a werewolf a good name. besides we already have nightwolf.

I think I remember reading this from a siggy, but with vampires, a drunken master, sorcerors, cops, swordsmen, centaurs, cyborgs, warring emperors, elementals, ninjas and monks, wraiths and deitys, magical and mystical beings, to demons, movie stars, military agents.........

............werewolves wouldn't seem too out of place at first. tongue I could imagine a wolf-like character, I guess, but a werewolf would seem far too out of place with the dark ambience of a game series like Mortal Kombat.

Personally, I would think of it as a rip-off from other games. What would be next? Dracula, mummies......clowns and jesters? There needs to be a limit to how far they can add new concepts to characters, and even vampires was pushing that threshold.

Werewolves would be more ludicrous than creative in a game like MK. wink Like I said in a previous post, let's NOT go there.

Well being that werewolves and vampires are natural enemies it makes sense. I dont think it would be a "rip off" of darkstalkers either, being that darkstalkers isnt the only game to use werewolves. Even if its not a werewolf persay, I think it would cool to see a character phsyically morph from fighting style to fighting style.

They are only enemies in Underworld, and in the White Wolf role playing games and World of Darkness to my knowledge. Lycanthrophy could be Nightwolfs speciality though.

I agree that Lycranthropy or simple Polymorphing would make a great character ability; Shang Tsung's morphs, only not a game character, but a humonoid or animal.

I think the character who's most suited for the morphing would be Reptile, if he were, after this whole ordeal, somewhat cured of his madness and de-evolution, and thus, his main form would be as a human, then he could switch into his Reptillian form. It's already established that he can do it, and it would mak an interesting gameplay addition.

pls guys lets not turn mk into a vamp werewolf thingy, the story would be ruined then.

dot forget only the modernisation brought werewolves and vampires together, in early times they never had anything to do with each other. i love werewolfism and vampirism, but it wouldnt fit in mk at all. the next thing u know is mk having elves and darkelves, and orcs and crap like that.

I would rather not see that. Yes, MK has very outlandish things, and that's wonderful for the fans. But most of it is based off of oriental legends and leanings...gothic horror creatures just do not seem to fit in as well. Even the techno-stuff in MK has a slight oriental bent to it. I would rather they stick with Asian legends (with the usual otherworldly MK twists to them) instead of going too deeply down the gothic horror route. To me, it just does not capture MKs flavor.

how about......no? When I saw Nitara the first thing I asked myself is 'Where's the Werewolf character?' I like the vampire / werewolf conflict that you see in films like Underworld, Van Hellsing etc. But I don't think that conflict has a place in the MK universe.

I see no real reason why not, if they do a good job of it. They had a concept sketch of an anthro zebra, and Kintaro was originally conceptualized as a tigerman, so you know that they've been kicking around the idea of werebeasts for some time. If they don't do the stereotypical portrayal of werewolves and werewolf/vampire wars, then I can see how it can be incorporated into the series.

Perhaps, but they DID have a concept sketch for him, and they HAVE made other joke characters for the game that were playable (Mokap, anyone?).

Besides, I can think of many stories they could use to integrate werewolves into the series, and NOT make it a supid rip-off of John Talbain or Yugo or White Wolf or some crap like that. For an example of one such idea, check out my MK7 thread linked in my signature (PS. anyone know how to make it so that the link actually links to the thread? Thanks).

werewolves would seem logical....but maybe too logical and too typical to mention at that. I mean dont want a new chracter based on the same theory...at least twist it up alittle instead of the old vamps vs. wolves story....and i quote "its just the same, ol' song" Plus even if there was a werewolf character i wouldnt want those styles of him in a human then a semi-human/wolf then a werewolf i mean that concept of him morphing into a werewolf is too similar to Yugo and characters of BloodyRoar. Not to mention the other characters mentioned like the werewolf from darkstalkers. Plus as chrome mentioned Nitara wasnt based on Western views of a vampire but rather himilayan...lets not stretch a mile from an inch here. In my opinion they introduced centaurs and it was so-so accepted as i know there are some that dont like motaro...i like him...next they took a step at another mythological creature and out came nitara. I think they weighed which would be more accepted out of mythological creatures and i think they are right...vampire would be accepted better in the MK Universe than a werewolf. I don think they will be soo cheesy as to add the typical vamp vs wolf as i stated earlier.

But then again the centaurs have their rivals the shokan so i dont think the possibility would be out for a rival for the vamps...and what more natural than werewolves??? In any case i believe the thought has crossed their mind the very minute nitara was introduced, but the risk of audience acceptance is kinda big for a werewolf...then again like stated by another member, withouth the character names all we have are: sorcerers, 4-armed human creatures, centaurs, riot cops, army brat, cyborgs and what nots
