Sumac, I hear what your saying but they would probably incorporate Johnny's intro dialogue to show which color shadow he is.

No but seriously, you always catch a one second glimpse of the intro before skipping anyway. If anyone REALLY cares about what variation the other person is using, and if that same person REALLY does not like watching intro's it would still be able to be shown in less than one second, with a crafty camera angle and showing cages shadow immediately.

It is possible cages shadows will not be the color change but if it is true they could accomplish it this way. Either that or johnny could have a luminescent glow about him.

Why people stuck with this idea?

Changes in the costume are a simple way to show-off changes and why anybody would change this just for Cage? It doesn't make sense, intro or not.

The chosen Variation should be apparent all the way through the match, not just appear due to certain special moves. If Johnny's "Shadow" colour is the indication of what Variation he uses, it should be apparent at all times. Perhaps emit from him like a smoke-like aura.

Also, if Sonya and Johnny don't end up being playable characters after all these massive hints, slips and reveals, well, it will be a huge disappointment. Hopefully their story mode roles are as huge and awesome as they've been hinted at.
