The developers say a lot of things. Their narrative for the entirety of Injustice was that the roster wasn't finalized when we know it was. Again my comment wasn't to say that Johnny isn't it just that during promotion they say a lot of things that later turn out to not be true/turn out to be something different.

Lol...Johnny (and Sonya while we're discussing this) will most likely be in the story mode, but I have a feeling they won't be playable unless you do something special in the game or unless you purchase them as downloadable players. Something tells me they want Cassie Cage to shine on her own, and feel that the immediate inclusion of both parents would dim that light a bit. At least, that's what I would do if I was making the game and wanted to help coerce players into actually appreciating someone new instead of sticking to who they've already played with a million times.

Sweeeeeeet, I'll take this as confirmation of Johnny, particularly when paired with the German magazine article. Out of my five favourites, Johnny and Raiden are in and Reptile still has a chance. Shang and Shao are dead so I'm happy out.

I really can't believe people didn't see this coming a mile off. In MK9, two of the main human characters survived: Sonya and Johnny. We've been teased with the idea of Johnny becoming Earth's main guardian and a serious warrior for about a decade and the team finally has the opportunity to play around with that scenario and see what they can do and people expect them to do nothing and use Johnny as a skin? Bollocks.

I'm interested in the relative schtum on Sonya though. I'm positive she will be in the game but I'm growing into my pet theory, that she gets killed in Story and will be released for DLC. However, I will drop this theory at the slightest sign she's in, I'm not exactly married to it.

I expect several new Outworld characters, including a new Shokan and a new Tarkatan. If they want to give that character some MK-cred by making them Baraka's child, cool. I just hope that there's something interesting about them, but there will be going on how amazing Kano is.

I hope johnny is just a story mode thing.

Although I hate him (a lot) his seido storyline could be interesting so I'll keep an open mind about his inclusion. Still doubt I'll ever play as him tho.

I asked why you were being offensive towards me, as if I had said something personal against you, so I wanted to make sure that wasn't the case. It wasn't a question about you liking me or not, and if you post the PM's here, then others would see that as well. However, you assured me that you didn't have anything against me and that it was purely because of the discussion.

Yet here we are, you still being very offensive towards me for no reason at all, and now trying to be so on a more personal level as well. Because of what? Your disagreement with me on Johnny? It just says more about you than about me.

I do wonder why people are being like this though. It's not just you. Just because I am outspoken about my opinion about Johnny and it so happens to be negative, people feel the need to attack me. In this whole discussion, I haven't said one mean word towards anyone personally, yet people call me all sorts of thing.

I refuse to engage in this any further. I won't help derail another thread to make it all about Jaded, and how everyone is such a meanie towards him, no more than I have already done anyway. Enough threads have gone by the wayside feeding that particular need for attention

So yeah, back on topic. Johnny is all but confirmed. I wonder what his variations would be? I imagine the Shadow Kick and Forceball will be in all of them....one zoner and one rushdown maybe? But what would they be called? Really hope he goes through a transformative experience: Sonya dying and going psycho-Cage or Shaolin Monk style introspective or Seido warrior....I can't wait for his reveal trailer!

According to the German magazine of which the title escapes me(Gamepro?) the variations are guessed at that Johnny Cage as he ages through the timeline which is interesting in itself since that would imply that he survives a large part of the story mode. The variations of all the characters have had one primarily offensive one which I think will be the most similar to Cage in Mortal Kombat 9. I would hazard a guess that another one will be a keep away style and the last could be a counter style.

I agree that that the forceball and the shadow kick will be will be available in all variations. Looking forward to what NRS has in store for us and their treatment of Johnny Cage. A very cool character in my opinion.

I would much rather have Johnny than Sonya.

Could be although I doubt it myself since the enhanced versions of Johnny Cages shadow moves in Mortal Kombat 9 left a red shadow trail behind them. I would think any shadow moves in Mortal Kombat X across all variations when enhanced will also have the red trail.

It would be useless to figure out which variation you or your opponent use at the moment.

Remember, variations change details of the costume, so you could insantly tell, by just looking at the character, what variations you or your opponent have. Unless Cage constantly has some sort of shadow effect going on (even when he is not fighting), you will not be able to see which variation he uses, until you use his special move. Which is counter-intuitive.

The name of the variation that the character is using appears below the character's life-bar and above the character's name.
