With all the "chaos" going on in the comics, big bad has to have something to do with that.

Also guys pick an avatar seriously lol, MKO have a ton to choose from

Also something to consider, Liu Kang and Shinnok are both part of the leaked roster. It's unlikely that any of the playable characters would be the big bad.

Maybe not in the old gameplay styles, but Injustice makes it seem possible now that they can make huge boss type characters balanced for normal play.

Not that this will do the same thing as Injustice, but hey.

Boon specifically said he wanted the boss to be playable this time. While it could be Onaga, I doubt it's the big loggy orc with wings.

I still think it will be Fire God Liu or the mystery woman from Jades MK9 ending. The comics lead to a "new enemy emerging" or something along those lines.. Both would be a good twist. Raiden avoiding Armageddon leads to the original chosen warrior becoming the badguy... OR finally we get a female boss..

Im game for either.... but DON'T want the boss to be a previous boss or badguy.. That would make it some what underwhelming.

I'm calling it. The big boss is either Reiko or Havik, and which ever one isn't the final boss will be the sub-boss. I want the final boss to be Havik but I'm actually leaning toward Reiko because of the blood cloud we saw in the story trailer. Of course, that could be misdirection rather than an indication that Reiko as the blood god is the final boss.

Either way, this latest issue of the comics has sealed it for me.

I'll be very surprised at this point if this is not the case because in all honesty despite all the fan speculation, there is very little from the various trailers/streams and the comics pointing toward Liu Kang or Noob Saibot(the other primary candidates) being the boss.

I'm thinking he's telling reiko what he wants to hear. Reiko may dethrone kotal but only until havik gets what he wants. If anyone becomes a blood god I would guess liu Kang trying to protect everyone from raiden and shinnok, iron fisted injustice style.

Haviks main goal seems to be releasing shinnok and that goes against everyone really even quan chi. so maybe shinnok is the boss/sub boss and he will clash for the realms with everyone and whoever the blood god is. Reiko, the master of strategy following religious advisory from the cleric of chaos, he's done lol. I think havik is an observer/orchestrator, not a boss. I hope he's playable.

I think we can all agree that the blood god is the final boss. Now, who exactly the blood god will end up being, Reiko or Havik, is the interesting question. It does seem that Reiko is doing Havik's bidding. However, it is possible that Havik simply wants to create chaos and stir the pot. I don't think he is doing all this to serve Shinnok. In my opinion, Reiko is going to be the big bad. Havik is too much of a loose canon to be the big bad. He would make for a great mystery character and possibly even a sub boss.

As for Shinnok, he will certainly play a very important role in the story. Also, Quan Chi has barely been mentioned in the story so far. I'm sure he is going to be trying to make sure Shinnok is the one who comes out on top. Or maybe he is in for it himself. Either way, I really like how the story is unfolding. Its very complex and has a lot of moving parts. It makes sense that the story would unfold over 25 years if a key plot point has to do with collecting all the daggers.

Reiko is a perfect fit for the blood god. He was a blood hungry warmonger. This would also explain why he is still in his old costume, as his final costume would be the blood god variation. Also the stage with the library is almost surely related to Reiko. Its becoming more and more obvious that he has got to play a central role in the story. I hope we hear more about this on Friday's story related kombat kast.

I've been reading all of the theories regarding the antagonist for MKX and couldn't help myself anymore. Do not look at next paragraph if you want to learn the story first hand. My brother for an affiliate of NRS and worked on some of the games production. When I found this out, I heckled him like a child until he told me what I wanted to know. The final boss is Onaga. He will look quite different and modified. Still large, still has wings, etc ... Shujinko will be in the cut scenes before the final battle begins. The final chapter is once again Raiden but he does not fight the final battle (like Kung Lao's chapter in MK9, Liu Kang fought Shao Kahn in the final battle of that chapter). Havik is attempting to gather the Kamidogu before Shujinko can because he does not want Onaga to return due to the order he brings to his realm. This is supposed to lead comic readers to believe he is the primary antagonist. If you remember in Deception, Havik favored Shao Kahn because he wasn't able to rule as decisively as Onaga, bringing about more chaos than order. Now, in chapter 1, we see Shinnok in the Netherrealm war get trapped "inside" the amulet and in the comic we see the Elder Gods tell Raiden that uniting the Kamidogu releases Shinnok from the amulet. If you remember the first timeline, uniting the Kamidogu unites the realms and brings back the return of "The One Being" (The Elder God's arch nemesis, including Shinnok's). In the final chapter of the game, we come to see many of the characters die off and Onaga himself return ala Deception infused with the power of the Kamidogu being united. He only needs the amulet just like the intro to Deception which is in hands of Raiden who in turn receives it from a redeemed Liu Kang in the previous chapter who takes it from Mileena. There is a large battle similar to Deception and all sides attempt to unite to fight the Kamidogu possessed Onaga who wants to become The One Being himself (he just needs the amulet). Seeing no other way to stop him, Raiden and company decide to release Shinnok from the amulet and willfully hand over the amulet giving him back the powers of an Elder God. We see Shinnok with the amulet fight Onaga in the final battle with the Kamidogu (Shinnok doesn't have a full chapter) and is redeemed and re-ascends to his former position as Elder God. I know everyone didn't really expect Shinnok's story arc to be over in Chapter 1 but there it is.
