Says you, but to others I have yet to see anyone agree that a Silver Surfer-like appearance for this character would be better than what he looks like now.

Appearances have to make sense for a total change. Cyborg Sub-Zero made perfect sense as to why he's there, because his story allowed that change to happen. With the way Rain has been going, there's nothing that tells me he'll become a beast any time soon. He worked with Kahn after being denied as a leader of his own resistance, and was promised to be a leader of his own army.

Or just read his story here

Nothing in that tells me that he's looking to become a beast. That would just be too silly.

It still doesn't mean it can't happen. They can return his story. So maybe after finding out his dad was argus. He developed how to switch to his water form. It's like how the heck do characters perform animalistic, you're telling me liu kang changing into a dragon makes more sense than rain turning into a water based chrome human body? I don't buy that. All ninjas need to be differentiated from one another, by making rain this way, it sets him apart from other ninjas big time. His old story can stay how it is, but no one knows what the future holds for rain, so saying this is a bad idea is like saying changing subzero into cyborg is bad idea. They made story for subzero, they can make one for rain.

They gave Liu Kang that dragon fatality because no one liked his non-killing one in the original, it was also stated that he was a renegade monk who was no longer with the Shaolin Monks, but had strong beliefs of them, which allowed him to start killing. And THAT makes a hell of a lot more sense than Rain obtaining some random magic that turns him into... chrome... If his element is water, he would look like what I showed you in a previous post. But since you obviously blew that off, I can simply instruct you to go back to the video and see clearly how he would possibly look like to what you're begging they do with this guy.

The reason why they changed Sub-Zero into a cyborg is because Raiden was TRYING to prevent certain outcomes that would cause Armageddon to rise. Instead of having Smoke become the cyborg, it had to be Sub-Zero. THAT made sense for him changing into a cyborg. It's not because they wanted to change him just to change him, they wanted to change him because they wrote a story that made sense for his change to happen. If you want Rain to obtain this big power that changes his entire appearance it has to make a hell of a lot more sense than just "oh well it can be written," at least give a reason how he would become this beast rather than just saying it because you want it to.

I want Frost to return to the next game as a character who escapes from the Automation Program and slowly joins forces with Raiden, Johnny and Sonya. Her story would differ from her previous story because she wouldn't be considered a character that wants nothing but power, instead she would be a character that is slowly learning her powers and how to use them. Still keeping in mind that she was a student, and using it differently than having her end up taking the Dragon Medallion off of Sub-Zero. It's really not that hard to think of a story for a character that has a chance to appear in the next game, given a plausible reason for them to appear and why.

Also, Rain is not a ninja, no one but Scorpion is a ninja. Rain is a general in the Edenian army who is a prince as well as a half god. Every other character who once looked like the other has more distinguishing marks that separates them from the other. It's very easy to tell the difference between all of these "ninjas" now rather than knowing they were just mere palette swaps.

Look, I got no problem with Rain using his powers to turn parts of his body into water. They actually did some concept art for MK9 where he had arms made of water and I thought it looked pretty cool. Here. I'll show you:

See, that? I like that. I'd prefer it in an alternate costume or just a temporary effect that happens during a special move rather than an all-the-time thing, but still. As long as he's still got clothes on and doesn't just walk around as a naked blue person like the Water God from Mythologies or Iceman from the X-Men, I'm fine with it.

But why would he turn into chrome, which is a shiny metal? That's the part that doesn't make any goddamn sense. Rain is NOT the Silver Surfer, he should not look like the Silver Surfer, he should be his OWN character. And water doesn't look like chrome.

OK now I see a preview of what he would look like, I don't like it. It doesn't make sense how u would have armour on top of your body if u are made out of water. But my old suggestion about making rain silver and purple still stand. This is the two most elegant colours combined.

How about to hide your dick, maybe?

If a dude turns his skin to water and back, all his bits and pieces are still gonna be there, they're just gonna be made of water too. Just because Galactus made Silver Surfer anatomically incorrect like a Ken Doll doesn't mean all people who turn their skin into something else suddenly become smoothed over downstairs for no reason too. Colossus and Iceman turn their bodies into metal and ice respectively, and they still wear pants, for a good reason. Nobody wants to see Rain's water-wang.
Or how about for decoration? You're the one who wants him to dress more like a prince. If he runs around naked, he can't wear fancy gold and purple stuff. (Speaking of which, since when does anyone think silver is more elegant than gold?)

Having armor be worn by a guy who can change his entire self into water makes more sense than Sonya splitting a person in half with her legs doing the splits. Seriously.

Or Jax turning into a giant and squishing somebody flat.

Are you really trying to make sense of cartoon/fantasy/Mortal Kombat logic right now?

What a goofball.

No I'm talking about physics. With the picture razors edge posted, I see why nrs decided not to give him the watery beast look, because it looks stupid.

Water is a liquid which is why Rains move don't have his victim like how subzero hits his victims. Rain traps his opponents in a water bubble. It's physics.

Are you really trying to apply physics to a Mortal Kombat game?

Sub-Zero can freeze his opponents in mid air without them crashing to the ground.

You're going to sound silly by throwing physics in a discussion about a game that completely ignores all laws of physics.

You want to debate physics in a game where women fight all the time in high heels and just barely enough clothes to avoid wardrobe malfunctions? while we're at it, why don't we complain a few years too late about the smoke monster on Lost being able to lay a smack down on people.

Coming into this late, but...

Water may be a liquid but it does have density (I think I'm using that term in the correct context) Objects can passed through water but not smoothly like air and some can even float on water. Rain could just as easily be able to control the density of his corporeal water form. I'm mean he can control water well enough to weaponize it, so I don't think it would be too hard for him to keep his clothes on as well.

As far as story potential, if we go by his DLC bio, Rain is/was a power hungry fighter in Shao Kahn's army. So I could easily see him defecting to Shinnok's side to grab even more power. Considering he's a half-god, he could a very powerful player in the events of the story.

As for the love triangle thing... No. This is Mortal Kombat. I can see love being a source of motivation for some characters (Liu Kang.) But introducing a complicated love-triangle bit would only be distracting to the larger focus of things.

...All this talking about rain makes me want to go listen to some CCR.

That's my favorite design for Smoke. It was bad-ass.

Well I don't mind there being certain things that bends physics or completely ignores it. The problem is how odd it looks. Some things don't look that odd. But one thing I can tell u is women wearing high heels and fighting is odd. When I go to clubs women can't even dance in their high heels they take them off and dance bare feet. Which is sexy lol

At least the whole power thirsty would make sense if he works with Shinnok, which is plausible to see happening if they were to make this character have more of an important role finally.

But with the love story, I agree, there shouldn't be any kind of love triangle between any characters.

I can't stop laughing at this... it ain't sexy when you see them dancing in spilled beer and broken glass. You'll find it unsexy soon when you see a busted open foot and blood trickling everywhere.

You must be living in some alternate universe cartoon sitcom England where everyone is perfect. If there's one thing I know from living here all my life it's that "British [anything] doesn't get smashed like that" is absolute bollocks.

Well in east London they don't get wasted. There are a few but very few. Also there's a pub over the road so drunk girls are probably in there. Where I go girls dress to impress, some are there to just dance.

Man, this thread is nothing short of hilarious, mainly due to the OP's trolling. Now we're going from talking about Rain to East London pub-hopping? Oh, my.

Everyone's different. Not everyone will have the same motive or agenda as other fighters. I don't see why there can't be a love triangle. All the best love films have a love triangle, titanic, Romeo and Juliet, And hunger games and twilight.

Because MK is not a love story. Its a high fantasy kung fu romp. We are not playing to see if the hero gets the girl in the end, we're playing to see if the heroes save Earthrealm from being ripped asunder by other dimensional entities (any girl-getting would just be frosting on the cake). As I said love can be a motivational factor for a character. But unless handled extremely well (and lets face it this is NRS we're talking about) anything more than that would likely just distract from the larger scheme of things.

Other thing working against it is the medium the story is presented. A Fighting Game. If this were a ongoing comic or a animation/film, and again if handled extremely well, then maybe they could introduce the element. But the story of Mortal Kombat within a fighting game; and understand as I write this I love the lore and story of MK; it serves largely as a an excuse to get a bunch of characters together to beat the unholy hell out of each other.

So what if it is a fighting game. Titanic is about a ship or boat that crashes but they still manage to make an epic love triangle story. I don't buy that "this is nrs ". Yeah they got rid of a few people so they can employ some people now who has a different vision then just a fighting game.
