From what I've seen from their playstyles, Mileena is all about pressuring the opponent. All of her moves involve staying close and ripping into the opposition.

Meanwhile SubZ style seems to revolve around controlling zoning and making it unwise to put pressure on him..

She really doesn't have any safe approach options, since if she tries to projectile exchange with him he'll take a little damage while she'll be frozen, leaving her primed for a combo. Her roll and teleport kick leave her wide open for punishment when blocked.

Thoughts?

Interesting observation, but I believe this thread belongs to the Strategy Zone, no?

Thoughts? Don't play as Mileena against Sub-Zero.

That's like asking what to do when someone throws down Rock in ro-sham-bo. Scissors don't work? Use paper.

And fuck using Mileena at all; Kung Lao and Quan Chi all the way.

IDK, could be. Game's not quite out yet and these are opinions gauged from my viewing of others playing more than actual strategies. So it was kinda gray area in my head.

Pretty much every character will ahve one or two characters that they suck against. Its always the way in fighting games. Its not necessarily a bad thing.

My brother loved to play as Mileena and for about 10 rounds beat the shit out of me when trying to go toe to toe with her with combos. She would always get the jump on me because her regular attacks move a lot faster than sub's. But then I wisened up and went to being very defensive and set up traps for the bitch. What I love is that when you block Mileena's rolling ball no matter if you're standing or ducking she rolls in the air, if you can jump up and hit the triangle button you can hit her back to the ground pop her up again and go into a devastating combo. Things you need to watch out for is her super teleport kick move that gets me everytime. The best way to fight Mileena as Sub-Zero is to stay in mid range, don't stick too close because she can do that leap bite move and she has the sweep kicks to counter your blocking high and that axe heel kick on to the top of your head when you block low. Also don't stray off too far because you can get cheesed with the sais and when you try to counter you can get teleport kicked and your ice slide move dosen't go low enough to avoid the sais when trying to close the distance between you and her. Stay in the mid and set up land mines with your ice clone and keep that throw button in handy when she blocks your attempts at combos because she can easily do a quick pop in on you and ruin your day. Another thing you won't be able to use your ice ground move because a skilled Mileena can easily counter that slow motion move and set up combos. For all the characters in the Demo Mileena is by far the most challenging opponent to face for Sub-Zero hands down.

Sounds like you're strictly relying on her specials (which have unsafe recovery time). Mileena has a zoning launch grab that can catch people off guard as well as hop over projectiles.

So yeah...mix it up.

all you have to do is keep away and spam your sai. Subby doesnt have a teleport and his own projectile is very slow so he is outmatched in the range game. you can also hop over the ice ball with with her leap attack and go under it with her rolling attack. so Sub's only option to win at this point is to get close and do some damage which puts him at a disadvantage too since mileena is faster and has a good mix up game.

I don't think this mismatch problem, where you have , among 27 characters in the MK 2011 (initial roster + unlockable) to choose, is serious issue, or, even if exists such thing .....

Summarizing : if you catch Mileena, she destroys Sub-Zero, but is beaten easily by Jade..... or any other match combination where : Character A x Character B = A win, but Character A x Character C = C wins ..... 9/10 times ? I cannot believe this exists in MK 2011 .... hehe

Despite characters having some diferences, some of them small, and others, deeper ....I think the skill level of who is behind the gameplay, the real person controlling the character, this factor causes much more impact if a certain character is being well used or not.

You see, Noob Saibot surely will be use by a lot of "noobs" , based in his cool look and interesting special moves, but, I am sure that a guy that trained pretty good with Sub-Zero in the demo, has a great chance to destroy Noob's players, despite Noob Saibot looks a scary character to fight against .....

Yeah you're not going to get close to Sub often. Spamming Sais could work. Even if Sub Freezes you the Sai will hit him and he won't be able to get in for a combo.

Hmm, this used to the case when I first started using Mileena in the demo and my friend of course chose Sub Zero. I eventually started measuring my jumps over the clones and things became a lot easier. He hasn't won a round since the following day where I began to 2-zip him every match up til now where he still gets raped by Mileena's pressure. Her double sweep/ launch kick combo has to be one of the most annoying and pressuring things I've ever done in a video game to someone.

However, I do agree that the only reason I'm able to 2 stock him now(lol super smash term) without fail is due to how well I can read his Sub Zero. If two players of similar skill that know how to play with their characters and stay true to their strengths (defensive/offensive), Sub Zero should have the upper hand.

Note: Mileena's teleport kick I believe is her greatest weapon and downfall, depending on the style of play of your opponent. The key is to adapt on the fly, that separates the bleh players from the successful ones.

Rant: I FUCKING HATE THE FACT THAT HER CANNONBALL MOVE ISN'T A LOW-HIT MOVE. What the fuck? It's as low to the ground as possible! It's so dumb when people have a block reaction where they're blocking up and my cannon ball hits the uncovered legs only to bounce up to an uppercut.
