Mortal Kombat Movies & TV Shows available in iTunes store!
In addition to being available on Blu-Ray and Netflix, as reported earlier, the Mortal Kombat movies are now available in the Apple iTunes store as well!

"We're thrilled to add this property to the iTunes lineup," said Eddy Cue, Apple's vice president of iTunes. "The Mortal Kombat films, while available for the iPod and AppleTV, have never looked better than they do on the iPad."

"Besides the movies, we have also made available the films' accompanying soundtracks, the two TV shows
[MK: Conquest and MK: Defenders of the Realm], the straight-to-video release [MK: The Journey Begins], the online-exclusive fights [MK: Federation of Martial Arts], and for the first time ever on video - the Mortal Kombat Live Tour!" explains Martin Tremblay, president of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "We've also had some success on iTunes with digital comics books on some of our DC properties such as Superman: Red Son, and so we will be adding the Mortal Kombat comics later on in the year, as well."

Mortal Kombat Available For Streaming on Netflix
Fans of Mortal Kombat: The Movie rejoice! In addition to the Canadian Blu-Ray release later this month, the video-by-mail giant Netflix is also making the movie available for its members as one of its "Watch Instantly" collection.

This is big news as more and more devices such as PS3, Xbox 360, Tivo Premiere, and even certain televisions are showing support for this feature.

In somewhat related news, Street Fighter: The Movie has also been made available for streaming as well. Coincidence, or a sign of grudging acceptance of video game movies in general?

Sorin Brouwers Returns for MK9
Martial artist and motion capture actor Sorin Brouwers will also be turning for Mortal Kombat 9! Sorin posted his resume on his website (although since then, the file has been removed). Sorin's work on MK vs. DC includes doing the motion capture work for Kano, Green Lantern, and Scorpion. Unlike the previous resumes that have been posted, there is no indication which character(s) he will be portraying in his return.

Kitana Also Confirmed For MK9?
Hot on the tails of the Sonya confirmation story, there is some good evidence that Kitana is also confirmed.

On the personal webpage of Brenda Barrie (the actress who did the motion capture for Wonder Woman and Catwoman in MK vs. DC Universe), there was indication that she was going to take up the role as the Edenian Princess and that the game was to be released on December 25, 2010.

Since then, however, the page has been altered.

It seems likely that she spilled the beans a little early and was asked by Warner Bros to remove the information. Still, both Sonya and Kitana fans have reason to rejoice now, as it seems a sure thing that their favorite characters have made it into the game in some form.

A big thanks to fellow fansites FDMK and MK Universe for the news and screencaps!
Sonya Confirmed For Mortal Kombat 9?

Sonya's most recent voice actress, Dana Lyn Baron confirmed earlier this month that in September of 2009 she had once again lent her voice for the veteran Mortal Kombat character. This is a quote from her regarding it:

In September — right before I left for Paris & the South of France — I reprised my role as Sonya Blade for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s next installment of the MORTAL KOMBAT videogame.

In November, we reported that WB had registered a trademark for Sonya Blade, though it's uncertain if this might be related or not. Regardless, this information does confirm Sonya will be appearing in some form of upcoming Mortal Kombat video game.

You can read this comment and more about Dana at her website.
