Giant dancing humanoid Zebra shakes the very foundation of MK5.
There hasn't been a crazier update since Ed Boon updated with a video of a horse hitting a guy with the trademark "That's what you get" for The Grid. This time Ed's latest tease is no talking horse. This time it's a.. well.. a zebra. Noob.com has updated with a sketch of Zebron, an anthropomorphic zebra who will surely give Kung Lao a run for his money - his alternate weapon being a top hat. Could this be the next confirmed character for Mortal Kombat 5? If so we might all be doing strange tap-dance sequences instead of dial-up combos in this next installment of the series. Thanks to Fat Satan for the news tip. Zebron [Image URL Updated]

E3 Update: Mortal Kombat...5? Midway releases new information.
The Realm of Mortal Kombat, who is reporting live this year from the E3 show floor, has updated tonight with information that a short video clip was unveiled which shows the MK Dragon Symbol in various different shots. TRMK also says that the character Scorpion was shown for a split second. In regards to our last post this evening about the press release we were a bit curious why the next MK title was referred to as only "Mortal Kombat". TRMK reports that Midway has made a point that they are considering to call the next-generation MK Title just "Mortal Kombat" to show the significance that this game will revive the series. We are expecting a brief report ourselves about this new Mortal Kombat title towards the end of the week from one of our sources who is attending E3. As soon as we get this information you will see it here. Also be expecting some exclusive Mortal Kombat 5 content available here sometime in the future...
E3 Update: Midway announces new MK title to be shipped Fall 2002.
The Electronic Entertainment Expo kicked off today in Los Angeles. Mortal Kombat 5 is not present at the show this year, however Midway Games has released a press release that claims a new Next-Generation Mortal Kombat title is in development and is set to ship for the Nintendo Gamecube and other next generation game systems in Fall 2002. There was mention at the end of the press release that the new MK title has not yet been proposed to Sony Computer Entertainment America. We highly doubt that Mortal Kombat 5 won't be released on the Playstation 2. For the whole press release click here or check out our excerpt below:

"The Mortal Kombat franchise has set the standard for martial arts fighting games over the years," said Helene Sheeler, vice president of marketing, Midway. "As the first of the series did, this all-new Mortal Kombat will once again reinvent the fighting game genre with never-before-seen features and a completely new fighting engine."
