Sheevas Skin Peel Fatality Included In IGNs List Of Top 10 Goriest Game Deaths
The folks over at IGN have compiled a list of what they believe to be the top ten goriest game deaths of all time, and of course, Mortal Kombat appeared on the list. To be sure, there were some other gruesome deaths which also gave MK a run for its money.

From the article:
How do you pick the goriest death scene from one of the most notoriously bloody fighting series in gaming history? You look at all of them and pick the one that grosses you out the most. We realize this is a matter of personal taste (or lack thereof), but for our money, peeling someone's flesh from their bloody skeleton in one slippery slough is about as gory as it gets. Flawless victory.

I guess you could say there's just something a-peel-ing about this Fatality!

Epic Games Claims Mortal Kombat 8 for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC?

Epic Games, the creators of the Unreal Engine 3 which Mortal Kombat series creator Ed Boon has stated the next game in the series will make use of, has add the tentatively titled "Mortal Kombat 8" to their upcoming games listing. According to this information, the game is being developed for Sony's Playstation 3 console as well as Microsoft's Xbox 360. However, the site also says the game is in development for the PC, a platform which the Mortal Kombat series has been absent from for a number of years. Many fans have requested a PC version of previous games to no avail, but it seems possible Midway may finally deliver.

It is important to keep in mind that while the site is owned by Epic Games, nothing is confirmed at this time. Midway officially has no comment on this matter at this time. We will be sure to keep you informed when or if this changes.

IGN Posts More Ultimate MK Impressions, Screenshots, and Videos
The guys over at IGN have just posted the motherload when it comes to the upcoming Ultimate MK for the Nintendo DS, which they just got their hands on. As previously reported, UMK is the combination of the arcade port of Ultimate MK3 and the Puzzle Kombat minigame from MK Deception.

The first significant change one will notice from the screenshots is that you can flip the way the information is displayed on which screen – you have komplete kontrol over which whether the the actual fighting itself will take place on the top or the bottom, leaving the other screen free for move lists, Fatalities, and other such information. One area which looks to be completely revamped is the Ultimate Kombat Kodes used to unlock the hidden characters – they now use only five different symbols instead of the original ten. One presumes this means that with the recoding of the UKK system, a save feature will be built-in.

Puzzle Kombat is much the same as it was before, with the bottom screen containing the actual puzzle game and the top containing a visual representation of how the game is going with two kartoony versions of your kharacters engaging in kombat. One of the videos shows a slightly revised version of the Puzzle Kombat ladder which as never been seen before. The screenshots also depict the Puzzle Kombat select screen with some darkened (unselectable) characters, and at this point it's unknown how they will be unlocked. Some possibilities are Ultimate Kombat Kodes, or "rewards" based on your performance in either UMK3 or Puzzle Kombat.

According to the article, the game already plays as if it's 100% completed, except for the occasional lock-up here and there. This should, of courase, be removed by the time the game reaches.... finality.
