Midway Releases Sub-Zero Render From Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe!

Midway has released a new render from the very first confirmed Mortal Kombat character appearing in the upcoming crossover fighter, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, Sub-Zero!

In this image, Sub-Zero readies his patented freeze maneuver as he stands in his trademark Lin Kuei Temple stage. Fans will notice this image is different from the earlier Sub-Zero gameplay footage witnessed in the trailer, and that he does indeed bear his old scar.

Thanks to for originally notifying us to this render.

Midway Reveals Superman from Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe!

Hot on the heels of their release of concept art of two levels from Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, Midway has released renders of the fourth announced character from the game: the Man of Steel, Superman! The three images show the same shot of Superman, with different backgrounds: one with a plain white background, one with a plain black background, and a third with the ruined Metropolis behind him as seen in the previously released concept art.

All announced characters have now been revealed. Who is yet to join the conflict? As soon as we know more, we'll report it here!

Our thanks to the folks at Midway for releasing these images to the fans!

Midway Releases Two Stage Concepts from Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe!

The folks over at Midway have released two pieces of concept art from the upcoming Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe! These two concept pieces show stages that will be seen within the game. The first stage is the Hell stage, which is presumably meant to refer to the Netherrealm (or possibly the Hell of the DC Universe). The stage layout with its towers, chains, and expanses of lava are much more in line with the Netherrealm, however. The other stage shown is the Metropolis stage, which is of course best known as Superman's home city. The setting is one of devastation; an obvious cataclysm has befallen the city, with damaged and fallen buildings, smashed and burning vehicles, and the iconic globe of the Daily Planet fallen to the street. For those worried about a possible lack of blood, the street area presumably used for the fighting arena is soaked with blood.

Our thanks to the folks at Midway for releasing these two pieces of concept art!

Interviews Reveal New Tidbits Regarding MK vs. DC Universe!

A few interviews have surfaced which shed some light on some commonly asked questions regarding the upcoming installment of MK, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. Each interview is conducted with project lead Ed Boon.

In an interview with Crispy Gamer, Boon reveals details as to how the environments from the DC Universe and the MK Universe will be intertwined to create stages for which to fight. These stages will feature classic environments, assuredly from both worlds, beginning to "merge" together in some fashion.

Boon: The way we took it with the story is at the same time two cataclysmic events -- we reveal it all in the game -- occur at the same moment in time in the two different dimensions and it causes a rift between them. So all of a sudden Batman is in Gotham City and he comes across Scorpion. How did that happen? Who is this character? Scorpion is like, "Where am I?" There is this slow mergence of the characters -- they start swapping places and whatnot -- and all of a sudden the realms start. You'll see an island that's half of Shang Tsung's island and half of something like this.

Furthermore, he reveals a few facts regarding the game's story mode. Rather than each character having a story mode, each 'side' has a story feature where you will play as different characters from that faction as you progress through it.

Boon: No, you play multiple characters in this one. So you spend Chapter One as Superman -- it's not literal -- Chapter Two might be Batman. Chapter One in Mortal Kombat is Scorpion -- you play as Scorpion and you learn his moves -- and in his story he meets up with Sub-Zero, and you continue the path as Sub-Zero. You follow a character for a certain amount of time.

In another interview with GameTap, Boon mentions exactly what Batman we will be seeing in the game as well as (humorously) discussing Aquaman. To read this interview, click here.

Midway Releases Scorpion Render From Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe!
Get over here!

Following on the heels of the release of a render in a Polish magazine, the folks over at Midway have made the render available to the Mortal Kombat fan sites! This render is the first image released of Scorpion, one of the four currently confirmed characters in Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe! Scorpion's costume in this render is very much a blend of his classic and Deadly Alliance appearance; the trim and belt have the same look as his Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance costume, while the mask's almost bone-like structure harkens back to the classic movie appearance.

For now, only one confirmed character remains unseen: Superman. We'll keep an eye out; as more renders are released, we'll be sure to report it here.

Our thanks to the folks at Midway for releasing this image to the fans!
