As part of the WB Interactive Entertainment empire; NetherRealm Studios have excelled as a free-to-play mobile developer famed for counterparts to their console fighting games Mortal Kombat and DC Injustice. Since 2015, they've also turned the wrestling world on its head in the over-the-top, mobile exclusive fantasy fusion: WWE Immortals!

Johnny Cage left the Hollywood backlot to enter the ring in a 2015 franchise crossover. Now in the next big Immortals challenge, a WWE superstar will be infused with the powers of a thunder god!

Last December, NetherRealm Studios unveiled their latest free-to-play app: WWE Immortals! The partnership between NRS, Phosphor Games, and the wrestling giant meant an interesting meshing of style and subject matter!

With Johnny Cage jumping into the ring as a guest fighter in Immortals, we've been thinking about how Cage might come to blows with WWE - but what about the other way around?

World Wrestling Entertainment has been a powerhouse in its current incarnation since the mid-eighties. Its lineage goes even further back, tapping into the traditions and culture of a century of professional wrestling! Today, WWE runs at least 6 hours of original content every week, on an unending cycle year after year. Mortal Kombat's Johnny Cage is coming to challenge the superstars of WWE Immortals [full story]! To make it in the ring of World Wrestling Entertainment it'll take more than genetic gifts - it's all about grabbing the proverbial brass ring! What better way to do that than by taking advantage of the limited Early Access?

He survived Hell in a Well in Mortal Kombat 4, and defeated Mortal Kombat champion Prince Goro on film! Now Johnny Cage is cashing in on his stardom as the latest celebrity contender to invade the world of World Wrestling Entertainment!

Early last year, Mortal Kombat Online had fun comparing Triple H's Wrestlemania XXX entrance with legendary Outworld Emperor Shao Kahn. It looks like Chapter 4 of DC Comics' new series has turned the tables, showing us a Special Forces line-up with Sonya Blade and a large redheaded fellow who looks awfully familiar!

World Wrestling Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios are about to be partners in mobile gaming!

In the tradition of Midway Entertainment's Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game; NetherRealm's mobile development team -- in association with Phosphor Game Studios -- will launch an all-new, free-to-play app in 2015 called: WWE: Immortals!

Gamespot reports the game will feature "... epic Superstar battles in a fantastically re-imagined WWE world." To date, corporate parent Warner Bros. have released no other information or materials.

NetherRealm has had considerable success with their Injustice: Gods Among Us Mobile. Launched in 2013; Injustice Mobile has had a string of on-going updates, including a 2.0 multi-player revamp. It is unknown if Immortals will employ the same card-based battle system when it arrives on iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and Android devices. WWE currently has WWE: SuperCard - a card collecting App from 2K Studios, released in August.

WWE and Warner Brothers previously announced a partnership in November, granting Warner Bros. Home Entertainment distribution rights to WWE programming starting January 1, 2015.
