Well, heres the completerap on rain:
RAIN

Origin: Edenia
Species: Human
Affiliation: Worked for Shao Kahn

Mortal Kombat Trilogy: Rain was the son of an Edenian general who was
killed during Kahn's invasion 10,000 years before. During then, Rain was
a baby who was hidden away. He made his return before Kahn's Earthrealm
invasion and joined the emperor out of fear. It's hard to say what
happened next for the purple ninja. Either he fought for Kahn until dying
or escaping or Kitana had informed him of his past, allowing him to join
the good side.

Where Is He Now: Unknown. He could possibly be working for Kitana in
Edenia.

Miscellaneous Facts and Notes:

Rain was shown in the intro for UMK3 in the arcades, but he was not
actually in the game. It was just those wacky Midway guys trying to trick
you into inserting more tokens.

Before his story was finalized, the idea for Rain was that he was going to
be a member of the Lin Kuei. This made it in to some of the manuals by
accident.

Heres Ermac.

ERMAC

Origin: Outworld
Species: Amalgam of souls given a human form
Affiliation: Worked for Shao Kahn

Mortal Kombat 1: Whether or not he was there doesn't matter because even
if he was, he didn't do a damn thing. More on this later.

Mortal Kombat Trilogy: He accompanied Shao Kahn in his attempt to invade
Earthrealm. Along with her emperor, Ermac was defeated but he did not
die. Instead he followed Kahn to Outworld where he continued to serve as
slave to Kahn's will.

Where Is He Now: At some point after Shao Kahn's death at the hands of
the Deadly Alliance, Ermac ran into the blind warrior Kenshi. Kenshi
sympathized with Ermac and freed him from Shao Kahn's mind control. In
return, Ermac taught Kenshi the secrets of telekinesis. After that,
nothing is known about the whereabouts of the red ninja.

NOOB SAIBOT

Origin: Netherealm
Species: Unknown
Affiliation: Worked for Shao Kahn under the orders of Shinnok,
Brothers of the Shadow
Styles: Hapkido, Pi Gua, Ninja Sword

Mortal Kombat II: In MK2 it was Noob Saibot's job to scout the realm for
his master Shinnok.

Mortal Kombat Trilogy: Noob was given orders by Shinnok to join Shao Kahn
for the time being. He had plans to attack Kahn after he had been
weakened, but the plans never came into fruition thanks to the tenacious
champions of Earthrealm.

Mortal Kombat Gold: They never gave him an official story, but he was
almost definitely fighting alongside Shinnok.

Tournament Edition: Noob Saibot went back to fighting for Shao Kahn. While a
soldier in Kano's army, he came across an exhausted Goro and the two did
battle. Noob mortally wounded Goro, but after that, nothing is known of
Noob's fate.

Where Is He Now: With both Shinnok and Shao Kahn out of the picture, it's
hard to say.

Miscellaneous Facts and Notes:

His name is "Tobias Boon" backwards, but everybody knows that.

In MK4 Noob Saibot finally revealed his true form under the ninja
costume. His body is a glossy dark gray with a skull-like face. Not very
exciting, but beggars can't be choosers.

Noob had a cameo in the game The Grid, which was also made by Midway.

Wasn't smoke a member of the Lin Kuei and a friend of Sub Zero. Isn't the fact that Smoke was made into a cyborg the reason that sub zero fought against the clan.

Also, I don't own trilogy so what moves did Noob, Smoke, Rain and Ermac have? and wher'd you get that info.

Let's see, what I remember from playing Geni UMK3 is:

ERMAC:
Teleport Punch like Scorpion (with an exploding effect)
Weak-Shao Kahn fireball
Telekentic Slam

RAIN:
Projectile that controls foe's movements
Lighting Bolt (different from Raiden's)
Roundhouse sent opponent through screen (if you could say that)

NOOB:
Projectile that prevented foe from blocking
Teleport Slam
Shadow Throw (a shadow runs toward foe and throws 'em, setting 'em up)

SMOKE:
Same attacks as Scorpion, but he's a little faster.
---
Personally, I'd like to see atleast Smoke and Ermac return. Wether Smoke is human or machine, doesn't really matter to me, but I figure Subby's gonna need all the help he can get if he wants to rebuild the Lin Kuei. As for Ermac, there's such mystique and potenital surrounding a guy like him, that's it's just a waste to get rid of him.

But blindsite, I never said a word about smoke. (My favorite character by the way)

Thats the official mk info. Its not false rumors like alot of people put on sites. Well I didnt wanna overflood a thread of board with all the characters, but heres Jade: Ready...... Fight!.....

JADE

Origin: Edenia or Outworld
Species: Human
Affiliation: Worked for Shao Kahn

Mortal Kombat II: Never really given any story. Probably just
representing Shao Kahn, hiding in the background. Not sure if her being in
Goro's Lair has any hold on the story.

Mortal Kombat Trilogy: Sent with Reptile to go seek and destroy Kitana.
This caused conflict with Jade as she had loved Kitana as a friend since
childhood, but her loyalty to Kahn was strong. In the end she attacked
Reptile and saved Kitana. The events following are unknown as of this
writing, but she did fail to kill Reptile.

Where Is She Now: Either Reptile killed her or she is currently working
for Kitana in Edenia.

Miscellaneous Facts and Notes:

Before facing her in MK2, it claims that she was an undiscovered warrior
from MK1. Considering the MK2 intro says only 7 survived, she may have
been lurking around for Shang Tsung, just like Reptile. But no, she wasn't
actually in the game.

Well Thats all the characters asked for. bsktbll you edited the list of characters you wanted didnt you? THere were 4!

Okay let me tell you something, you can be born in outworld and still be a human.
Is kitana not human because she was born in Edinia? I would hope not

Its not a very hard question, Rain and Jade are human. Now Noob and Ermac, they are a different story.

Again, blaze rocks, another easy question.
Remember the game MK4? He was alive and well?
In MKda Kitana buried him and she was sad that he had died?

Besides do you have to look like a monster to be immortal?

Shang tsung is human, and before mortal kombat 1 he was hosting mortal kombat tournaments for 500 years.
Edit, oh you mean tournament edition? Well, I dont think tournament editions story counts, I just think thats their story, but mk6 will count for sure.

I don't understand how you can identify beings born in another realm as human. Where does it state in the MK storyline that Kitana is an immortal human? Kitana is 10000+ years old...that's fact. Rain must also be around the same age since he was smuggled away from Edenia when Shao Kahn invaded that realm. So why would these two “human” characters be blessed with immortality? It's more likely that Edenians have a much longer life span then humans.

SMOKE

Origin: Earth Realm
Species: Human / Cyborg
Affiliation: Lin Kuei Clan / Earth realm (Good)

Special Powers:
(Cyborg): Spear, Teleport Punch, Invisibility, Air Throw
(Human): Spear, Teleport Punch

Mortal Kombat 2: A Secret character with no real storyline. From what we learn in MK3 we can assume a few possibilities.
1. He is watching Sub-Zero's back.
2. He is watching the events of the tournament from the shadows for his Lin Kuei masters.
3. He entered the tournament to fight at Sub-Zero's side and defend earth realm.

Mortal Kombat Trilogy: In his human form Smoke was a lethal assassin working for the Lin Kuei. A friend and ally of Sub-Zero they both tried to escape from being turned into machines by their ninja clan. While Sub-Zero successfully eluded capture, Smoke did not. He would be transformed into a robotic nightmare, a soulless cyborg. He is instructed to find and kill his old friend and partner Sub-Zero.

Smoke soon finds himself being pursued by Shao Kahn's minions. He learns that he still has a soul and his true mission is the destruction of the Outworld invaders. He aids the Earth realm warriors in vanquishing Shao Kahn and his evil minions, but is forever trapped in his artificial body. His true form is that of a human. One he'll know only in his dreams.

Where Is He Now: Unknown, perhaps working with Sub-Zero, a member of the new Lin Kuei, or continuing the study and perfection of his skills in isolation.

yes goro died in TE. Goro died on the battle field by noob. Kitanas ending is after everything is over. The two go together. Goro never died in mk1 but just stayed in hiding ashamed of his defeat. That was his story in mk4.

I would like to point out that the people of Edenia are probably every bit as human as the people of Earth. But, I could understand not wanting to refer to them as "human" either because they are not exactly the same as you or me.

Their lifespans could naturally be longer than ours, or it may just be that their life is prolonged because of magic (like Shao Kahn's protecting them, or royalty and friends thereof are permitted to live longer, or it may be tied into the MK tournaments themselves.) That's what Liu Kang's situation was. Was he any less human because of it?

You could maybe refer to them as "superhuman", although that would pretty much cover any of the Earthlings in MK, too. Except Stryker.

Okay heres goro, and he did die and was naturally baried by Kitana. In MKDA he was killed by Noob saibot, God bless Noob. Anyways, heres Goro:

GORO

Height: 8'2"
Weight: 550 lbs
Age: 2010 years old
Origin: Outworld
Species: Shokan
Affiliation: Worked for Shao Kahn and later worked with Kitana's forces

Mortal Kombat 1: It had been 500 years since Goro's streak began,
beginning with his close victory against the original Kung Lao. Despite
his might, Goro was overconfident. And that is why he was defeated by the
Shaolin warrior Liu Kang. He then tangled with the combined might of Johnny
Cage, Sonya Blade and Kano. The island began to crumble, and since there
was no sign of him, his father and Shao Kahn believed him to be dead.

Mortal Kombat Gold: Goro had finally gotten over the shame of losing to a
human. But he still sought after Liu Kang for a rematch. He returned and
single-handedly ended the Shokan/Centaurian conflict. After Shinnok's
defeat, Goro and Kitana made plans to bring peace to Edenia. Kung Lao,
descendant of the man Goro slain centuries before, attacked the prince
with his hat, slicing his chest. But despite the attack, Kung Lao and Goro
made peace.

Where Is He Now: Goro and Kitana became close friends and joined together
to end Shao Kahn's tyranny once and for all. But during a battle against
Kano's army, Goro was badly wounded by the dark ninja Noob Saibot. He died
in a tent with his good friend Kitana sitting beside him. His body was
encased in a coffin and dipped into lava by his loyal people.

Miscellaneous Facts and Notes:

Despite what some FAQs may say, his reappearance in MK4 had nothing to do
with Shinnok.

Goro had seven wives and at least one son. It's unknown if any of those
seven females were Sheeva.

He appeared as a playable character in the PS version of MKT, but his
presence was not canon. It was only there for completion reasons.

He was referred to as a demon sorcerer a bunch, but I was never sure if that meant he could do spells involving demons or if that meant he was a demon himself.

He is a demon himself.
It's never clear if he started out as a demon, or born as a human being and his featured became twisted along with his evil (kinda like some Oni-Demons).

But yes, Shang Tsung's "true form" is a demon and this was shown in GamePro magazine.
since this has gotten off the topic of the original discussion, see my thread about this.

Shang Tsung is a demon but he can shapeshift. So he can choose a form he finds pleasing.
