I never was into MK4, and I never have played MKG. I am wondering, is it worth it to buy one of these (probably MKG). And, what are some prices, my guess is MK4 would run for $10 to $15. I dont know the rate of DC games though.

depends where you get the games. I got MKG over e-bay for less then 10 bucks. If you have an N64, I'd get MK4 cheap. The extra characters and backgrounds in MKG are nice tho. If you already have a DC, then of course get MKG.

Well, if you were never into MK4, why would you buy it?

Just get MKG for the Dreamcast, that is, if you can find it somewhere.

I was never into it because I lost interest in the MK series because I mainly played sports games. Now that fighting games are my main focus, I want to get some good ones.

P.S. yes I do have a DC, as well as N64

OK, here's the deal, I've had both versions.

I would advise you get the N64 version for one simple reason, THE CONTROLLER! The Dreamcast version is just plain horrible for MKGold, pretty much unplayable. Unless you are willing to shell out serious bucks for a decent Dreamcast fighter pad, blow MKGold off entirely. I'm not exagerating, the Dreamcast controller is that bad.

Now on the other side, the N64 controller is downright perfect for MK4. The overall game is much better balanced than MKGold, because the new characters are so damn cheap.

MKGold has more characters, more stages, more polygons. Also has the very nice feature of picking weapons, which does increase replay value. But it also has some nasty glitches that will bug you.

So I say go with MK4 and you will have a much easier time. If you do get MKGold, make sure it has a green "HOT NEW" sticker on the front. If it doesn't it's a buggy version.

Any questions?

You know, I have MKGold and a very decent fighter pad I would be willing to sell for around $20 to you. But I have no idea how we could do the transaction.

PM me if you're interested, and maybe we can work something out.

By the way, Ben Dover, he'll get used to the controller, eventually.

Just go to ebay and search for "dreamcast psx". Gotta love controller converters. I just purchased two of them and also two Xbox converters.

I'd go with MKG if you can get it for less then 10 bucks. I have it and I guess I'd rather be playing the game with a controler I've played with for years (SNES), but its alright if you've played a lot of DC games.

I got used to the Dreamcast controller for a lot of games, but I have to admit I never once was able to play a good game of MKG with the DC controller. I'm not even sure why because the controller works good for other games.

Since then I have been using the PSX to DC converters. They work great and it means any old PSX controller you want will work. I used the standard PSX controllers and also the ASCII ones with 6 buttons on the face plus really thin shoulder buttons, it works good for a lot of fighters.

N64 version of mk4 sucks ass.. graphics are crap and the n64 controller isn't much better then a dreamcast one... mk gold has extra characters and way better graphics.. if you have a dreamcast get that one. I have mk gold on my dreamcast and i still play it once in a while.. great little game.

LMAO! Exactly, I've been telling people that since good old Sega Master System days...SEGA CONTROLS SUCK!

Get a DC->PSX converter for like $15-20.

I built an arcade joystick specifically for MK Gold. Same arcade button layout and everything. I made it for the PSX and use a DC-PSX converter, that way I can use it for MK3, MK4 and MKT on PSX too. I need to finish the wiring on the 2nd one so my brother can play me.
