I did not like MK3 because of the modern day. The cyborgs were fine, fighting was fine (combos and percent of damage). Otherwise being ninja less was not a factor, because really, Cyrax, Smoke, and Sektor were ninjas, just cyber.

1. "MKD is indeed pitiful and any game as broken as it is also pitiful."

That would be UMK3.

2. I played MKII when it first came out quite a bit at Malibu arcade up here in Tampa, and the matches were most certainly NOT dominated by Jax or Mileena. If anyone dominated, it was Lui Kang and Katana -- but not in a "God tier" sense, like say Kabal who is God tier. When Jax was selected, he often got owned. Yes, it was high level play with real tournaments. It was a very big arcade.

3. Uh, noooooooooo! People still play at the high level online.

1. Saying UMK3 is as broken as MKD is complete and utter idiocy. MKD has so many variations of infinites for nearly every character, that it's not even funny. There are so many things wrong with the game's engine that make is so broken. UMK3, on the other hand, has a handful of useable infinites. Setting them up is another feat. If you get caught in Kung Lao's corner spin infinite, then you are jumping around way too much. Which is all too common when playing online, it's overly abusable due to netplay making anti air strategy near impossible. The other infinites, except for stryker's in some situations, are very difficult to pull off in actual gameplay...online is much much harder to do so.

2. So when MKII first came out, nobody used Jax to his full potential? Imagine that. Just because you have a crowd of people playing in tournaments at a very big arcade, doesn't mean that it's high level play. If Jax got owned in such tournaments, then it definitely was NOT high level play. Liu Kang and Kitana are TERRIBLE against Jax, his HK owns them for free.

3. Kaillera doesn't count for anything. It's for fun and means nothing. Playing in online conditions where you get hit by random nonsense is not high level play.

Please don't post anymore, it's stupid and pointless.

Save it. He is looking for an argument. He doesn't know MK2 that well, he probably hardly even played UMK3.

"Stupid" is an inaccurate term to describe the loading times for MKT, as they are completely 100% unavoidable, not to mention necessary. You wouldn't be able to play the game without them. You can change a lot of the options around reducing load time significantly, and turning off the vs screen (if you are playing other people) will remove enough time between rounds to make up for the little bit of loading time there is. Don't turn off the Buy In screen though because this will cause the game to crash on PS2.

Aside from that, I remember Sega CD use to advertise that loading time was a good thing, because you could do something like, grab a Gatorade inbetween levels.

Yes,refusing to play a game because a character isnt in it,is very pathetic.
That'd be like saying"I didn't play MKDA or MKD because Reiko wasnt in it."

I think a LOT of you just look too deep and technical into this.

Here it is, which did YOU feel was the better MK? No technical thinking, don't worry about what was broken. Just how did you feel about each..

geez, not hard. You don't need to prove anything or bring evidence to the table or anything.

There is a certain level of concrete evidence that can prove whether or not a game was bad.

You guys do realize that those games were released in the 90's? It's 2006 almost no game will stand the test of time, especially after a new generation of consoles is launched. Except maby StarCraft but I'm not to sure about that one...

No. None of us are aware that it is 2006. Apparently Microsoft and Midway aren't either because they are releasing UMK3 for X360 Live Arcade.

UMK3 is still being played and it's popularity is growing again. 2D MK has been on SNES upon initial release, N64, PSX, DC, and then has survived the PS2 Xbox and Game generation, with retro releases on these systems, now it's being revived once again.

Tests of time apparently reffer to graphics only, that's one of the only things that is improving. Since it takes soooooo much longer to put the graphics at their potential, there's less and less time to work on the depth. There are other things improving but look how noticible the changes in graphics are. Everything else seems to disapear, and that's actually how it is with most people.

The best multiplayer games have without a doubt stood the tests of time. Games like Mario Kart, James Bond, Twisted Metal, and Smash Bros. to name a few.
