Alright....(you know the drill)......Drahmin!!!!

Sure thing Libra, but first, I have a bit more I want to discuss about Shang Tsung. It's namely in regards to what I read in Gavok's MK Plot Guide with Shang Tsung being listed as a Tarkatan due to that picture of his so-called "true form". It sounded like speculation to me as opposed to official confirmation. I kind of wonder where he is from exactly and what kind of being he is. He looks human but is sometimes referred to as a "demon sorcerer". Was he naturally a demon who took on a human form or was a human who became a demon due to evil magic? I'm really confused there. Anyway, now that I got that off my chest........

I didn't exactly like Drahmin too much. His backstory was kind of interesting though I do wonder if he tied in with Shao Kahn since Drahmin was once supposedly some kind of warlord who was feared throughout the empires of Outworld. In MK: DA, he didn't have too much of an actual storyline other than serving the Deadly Alliance. I didn't like his voice in MK: D's Konquest. His outfits are ok. The mask of Kun-Lo is pretty cool looking. Other than that, he's basically an almost naked, rotting dead guy who smells real bad. tongue

Fighting wise, I really didn't like him. I understand that he's meant to be one of those slow, rigid fighters that have single powerful hits, but I think they could've made him a bit stronger since he didn't actually seem to be that strong though I'm not saying he was weak either. Anyway, I pretty much stuck to his Netherrealm style. His taunt really sucks ass due to it taking so damn long which makes him really vulnerable. All 3 of his styles do seem rather similar to each other. I did like his special moves though. I think that he could have a move using the flies around him that could work similarly to Smoke's Stinky Cloud. I did like Drahmin's "throw" move. There's not much else to say here...

His fatality was ok. His ending was somewhat interesting though of course it didn't happen. I guess he could come back though I don't really see much of a purpose for him to be in another MK game.

I dislike Drahmin he is probably the worst person in DA alongside Hsu Hao. His character design, technically is appauling. His mask flashes on and off during the whole match, it just dissapears, and the flies, well their just the most annoying thing.

His fighting styles are the same thing basically including his stupid iron club. He has no combos and his moves are boring. His story is boring too, he is just the worst character in the game and thats pretty much all I got to say about Drahmin!! Hope he never comes back.

I like Drahmin. Not a character that we would like to see in upcoming games, but for a filler he was very good. let me explain why:

1. all new characers included in games besides Sheeva weren't abnormal that much. It was quite refreshing to see "something" in the roster.

2. I'm a little familiar with asian myths, and I knew a lot of things about Oni and Tengu. Well, Drahmin sure looks like one Oni. And the whole rotting flesh idea is just so separate from the overused human-like characters, that it has won my heart.

3. The mask. I loved the idea of having the mask pon to controll his primal urges to kill, tear and wreck havoc. It was refreshing, alongside with styles that were fictional, but passing perfectly to Drahmin.

4. he was something like a playable boss. I never complained becouse he hasn't had combos, but for a riggid fighter that uses straightforward brute strenght -why combos and finesse? Tear them simply apart good old MK style.

more will come about Drahmin.

Best character ever!

Cant get enough of her, she's simply the best. For the moment though i like Li Mei more due to the absense of Sonya in deception

Though I'm not really a big fan of Sonya, I don't hate her either. She has always been on of the more powerful kombatants in the MK series. In fact, she was the only character I could beat MK1 with.

Her story is, frankly, old. I am sick of the whole "Military Babe" thing (and not just with Sonya). I think her popularity would increase if she were given a story twist or a total remodel of some kind. The rivalry with Kano and the Black Dragon should be at an end. It's been prevalent in every game and is now as boring as the whole Kitana/Mileena thing. The Outworld Investigation thing could be intersting if expanded on a bit.

As with the storyline revamp, I think Sonya should get a new look to go along with it. Her DA primary was good, but the alt was horiffic. It's time to lose the army motif and try something new and more interesting. Maybe black leather.

Gameplay-wise, I think she has been at least decent in every incarnation. In MKDA, specifically, she was brutal. Her styles were characteristic and effective, but I would like to see her with a different weapon in future installments. Her special moves were good, too (though the pink-powder-kiss was stupid, I thought). I did miss her trademark leg-grab, though.

Her fatalities have always been at least entertaining (except for the lame purple bubble-thing in MK3....what was that?). Her DA fatality is okay, but not one of my favourites. I expecially liked her MK4 fatality where she tears her opponent in half with her legs.

Overall, I think Sonya is a good character, but is at times overrated (I don't care that she was the original MK female), and is at times cheapened. She is a mainstay of the series and will return eventually (probably in the next game). When it happens, I hope that she has been given a more interesting look and story.

I dont like nor hate sonya either...but she doesnt appeal to me at all....she's not original...her story is old...I hardly used her when I played MK...I dont know exactly why but kitana, jade, sindel and even mileena have always appealed more to me.....maybe because of their story or even simply because of their looks.....

Yeah, like a couple of others said, I too don't like or dislike Sonya. In this game, she had her ups and downs like all other characters.

I think they were trying to go for more of the Sandra Hess look for Sonya in this game which isn't a bad thing. It was interesting that they showed a bit of Sonya's thong in her primary costume. I didn't like her alternate costume that much. I'd like to see her MK4 costume again. I thought it was very Sonya-ish.

Storywise, I found it to be boring aside from the fact that she and Frost don't like each other. I'm sure she'll definitely be freed from Onaga's control. I hope that she'll have some twists in her storyline, something that can make her interesting in the storyline area. Perhaps she could go to the dark side out of free will. Of course there'll have to be steps here and there to lead her to that path. A friend of mine has some great ideas for how to improve Sonya's storyline. Unfortunately, she isn't a member here. I remember Nemesi posted her ideas in a thread one time. Anyway, moving on....

Fighting wise, she's one of the best and it's pretty much due to her Tae Kwon Do style. It's fast, fluid, strong, easy to use, easy to master, has good moves and the reversal. Kenpo wasn't safe nor was it that fluid. I didn't really use it that much. Kali Sticks is pretty good though I don't use it much either. I was disappointed with her lack of her special moves from past MK games like the Leg Grab, Cartwheel Kick, Diagonal Bicycle Kick, etc. If she's going to be in MK7, she should have all of her special moves from the past MK games except for the Air Throw and the Flying Kick.

I thought her fatality was ok. I'd like to see some better ones from her in the future.

Overall, I think she has potential and I'd like to see her in MK7. She just needs to have a better storyline and the return of her special moves from the earlier MK games.

SONYA BLADE:

Well, Sonya is the archetype of the typical female investigator or military woman. Though nut. I certainly don't dislike her, and becouse she ties into Jax's storyline I certainly like her.
Fighting wise she's nmot weak, but not that strong either. Just love the way they replaced the energy rings with the blinding powder. However the flying kick should have gone for Kung Lao, instead of the whirlwind kicks. Those would have suited Sonya revised. Fatality: not bad, better than the energy kiss in MK3 and the idiotic ones in MK4, mostly the leg split.
Can't say too much about her. Her storyline is just as vague as Hotarus, Cyrax, Dairous but one common: they have potential, lots of potential.
In MK4 she looked well dressed, but his outfit was simply cooky. In MKDa they amde him a more "fresher" aproach. Not that military gym suit, but jeans and jackets. Her breast were quite visible though, but she didn't succumb to the rule of the MK-"woman becomes a whore outfit" thing.

Storyline-overall: 2/5
Looks-overall: 4/5
Special moves: 3/5
Fighting styles: 3.5/5
Finishers-overall: 3.5/5
Whole character overall: 3.5/5

Moloch....hmmm...well....what can i say about Moloch?

Not much really...I don't really like him.

Storywise, he was kind of like Drahmin's sidekick when it comes to eating people, burping, farting, shitting, etc. He's really cheap and annoying.

Now...on to his fighting styles....

Nonexistant made him really cheap.
Zilch also made him really cheap as well as annoying.

So in other words, his fighting styles, Nonexistant and Zilch, really sucked. tongue

lol...

Anyway, he had no fatality. Overall, I hope that he'll never come back. He's kind of a forgettable character, imo.

About Moloch:

Well, becouse we know only little about him, i shall judge him on his originality. Almost thye best! I grew tired of sub-bosses after Motaro, and having that cheap Goro back in MK4 (nothing compared to the original) just strenghtened me in my belief of MK's gonna suck. Fortunately MKDA came along. Moloch is a refreshment after them. A very original concept, but nothing new. I give him a 2.8/5 (can't give him a 3/5, becouse it would look like he's a good fighter, which he isn't)

CYRAX

I kinda got use to him, and now I love him. The cyborgs in the MK saga particularly in MK3 were not so riginal. Sektor, Cyrax..pft lame. However they were good fighterws and they made them quite decent afterwards.

Cyrax should stay and let Sektor go. Smoke is better in every way than him. Cyrax gets to be the standard cyborg for the humans of earth, while Smoke becomes the partly evil looking one. Just love thier looks.

What I did not like, that Cyrax was a black man. How in the hell could a chinese ninja clan have a black man? Only one explanation: they recruit internationally. That would explain why is Sub-Zeros mother american.

Fighting wise, Cyrax was beter in MK3 than in MKDA. But powerfull noneof- theless. The buzzsaw was refreshing, but I miss the plasma net. Also, his MKDA fatality is so grotesque, and somehow realistic, that it won my heart instantly. Keep Cyrax. I will continue on him later I think.

I really liked Cyrax in MK:DA I thought he looked great and his fighting styles, especially Sambo were great too, they were two of the best in the game and the pulse blade was a bit average but different to the other blades. I want to see Sektor back but out of all three cyborgs, Sektor is the weakest, but if they revamp his look so he is not so similar to Cyrax his return is welcome.

I liked the Cyrax underneath all the metal, I wonder if he will ever make it out and be a regular guy again, rather than a robot. Maybe turn Cyrax into a man and bring Sektor back to be the primary cyborg.

I also dissapointed to see the net missing, and the teleport, things that define Cyrax as a character. His bombs were utterly useless and the buzzsaw was ok but doesn't fit his character like the net does. His fatality was also good, gruesome but so unrealistic, surely they wouldn't fit into such a small space. 7.5/10

Kano's is one original bad ass in the whole fighting game universe!

Let's see from where does his popularity comes from: terminator-ripoff, ok, everything is clear, plus, he is mercyless, undignified, and survivalist. What more can you ask for a vile character?

Fighting wise, he was great untill MK trilogy. The bouncer ball attack was ridiculous, and he has lost his charm since. Not untill he came back in MKDA. That was the best Kano ever! Keeping his MK1 old costume and doing with a more action-man like wardrobe. I never liked his nija sprite costume in MK3, plus, he was absolutely bald then. Unforgivable.

His fatalities rocked. But the skeleton pull was horrible. The laser eye destruction was not that bad, however, and he was quitee decent in the arts specials.

Fighting-wise in MKDA, he's mediocre. HIs aikido looks nothing like aikido, but then again, since when is MK about realistics?

Love Kano.

Well, i know alot of people rip on johnny cage for his apparent lack of story and shallowness, but i've alway loved the concept of a hollywood 'van damme' wannabe competing in a life and death martial arts tournament. He almost seems like the sidekick to liu kang in the MK series. The fact the he was unceremoniously executed in MK3 and the second movie really bummed me out. My favourite character in the MK universe, but to be honest, even i don't know where i could take the character in the future.
