Alright people. its time to start MKDA characters. same rules except one new one. We wont be able to talked about Subby, Scorpion, Li Mei and others cause we already talked about them in MKD. Anyway, lets select our first character from MKDA......Kung Lao!!!!

In A Sense Kung Lao Is The Greatest Thing Ever To Happen To Mortal Kombat Ever. His Look, His Story(really peaked in Deadly Alliance!) His Moves He Is Just A Abadass motherfucker. I Started liking kung lao alot when he was first introduced in mk2. his fatalities in that game were the best. the hat slice down the midliune was fucking gruesome! his hat projecctile raped all in that game being able to control if it went in the air or lower. He was the only character i ever scored a flawlesss on kintaro with as well using my teleport kick t telport kick kombo. In mk3 he came back looking even more badass with a gleaming edge on his hat that i only knew would soon slice through his opponents. His freindship in that game was funny shit too!(poor dog) I was kinda pissed off when he wasn't in mk4! i was like what the hell but they made it riight when deadly alliance came out. There Finally he stepped into the lime light and out of liu kang(now dead) shadow. it was now up to kung lao to avenge the death of his fallen ally. his primary in that game was average but it was well worth the koins once you got his bad ass alternate! the hat was amazing in that game and the whirlwind kicks holy crap! glad they dint give that move to anybody else. His fatality i think is one of the best in the game..not to over the edge or silly and qucick and fast. i like how he kicked you and the hat lurched outta the skull! hahah.! i think i only lost like once with him to my freind. when deception came out and i saw that trailer that everybody had got their ass kicked and raiden was the only one alive... i was like bullshit Kung Lao woulnt have gotten killed by the deadly alliance! in his ending he beat the living crap outta shang tsung. but i mean who coulnt he got beat up by like everybody. (raiden, liu kang kung lao khan quan chi) And when i saw that shujinko thing with Kung Lao's stances i got really pissed off. i was like why dint they just make konquest about kung lao since those are all his stances anyways. but i did find Kung Lao in konquest it was awesome. he was all revamped and looking cool as hell with his Dark Red pants. Ermac's ending really made me happy seeing him alive again! and ready to return with liu kang to the fromnt lines. can't wait for shaolin monks cu he is gonna be sweet as hell in that too. Hope they finally use him in the mk3 movie that is coming out! Kung Lao is my favortie character ever and i hope that his story and role in Mk will continue to grow with each game.

Kung Lao has been one of my favourites since his debut in MKII. He has a great distinctive style, and is one of the most original characters to come from the series. In my opinion, he makes a FAR better central hero-type character than Liu Kang or Sub-Zero. I love the hat, and his specials and fatalities are generally very good. His fatality from MK:DA was one of my favourites

Kung Lao, along with a few other specific characters, are why I like the Mortal Kombat series as much as I do. His story is simple, but original and interesting nonetheless.

It's too bad that he didn't make it into MK:D, but I'm sure he will turn up again.

Kung Lao:

I like him a lot, even though I boot him in the official vote off thread. I still like him.

I like his story, I think is a good one.

I didn't like his fatality in MKDA, I don't think it was that good. However the way he walked toward the victim was cool.

I think it will be a good thing for him to return in MK7.

I like his alt, in MKDA.

I agree with everyone that Kung Lao is one of the best fighters ever to be introduced in MK. When I saw his looks, I wasn't sure that he was a good guy for first. His looks were so deep, so cold and duty-like, that I loved him from the start. HIs moves were too aggressive and too menacing that they also made me rethink the "Kung Lao is a good guy" line. He's the most brutal of the earthrealm warriors of the W.L.S.

I was overjoyous, when he got the must avenge Liu Kangs death, and turned out to be one of the best MK games ever. (MKDA in my opinion ghas the best characters and the best storylines still) Kung lao losing to Shang Tsung was good in my opinion, becouse I could overlook the fact of another ressurection done by Onaga after their defeat and the defeat of the DA. Thast made some points, and Ermac freeing them from the mind-slavery was also good.

Kung Lao should replace Liu Kangs role as primary fighter and defender. Liu's time is done, he has defended Earth for 3-4 times, and had a major clash with Shao Khan. Khan dying while Liu is dying was the linear explanation to the drama, what the two's rivalry meant.

Liu is a chinese form of superhero, but since MK has grown past the idea of introducing normal, human-like fighters (except Kira/Kobra), he should be gone, becouse there is nothing "suipernaturally special" about him. Kung Lao however does have his mystic hat, and the shaolin deefnder sphere.

Introducing human like warriors usually turned out bad (Jarek, Kai) but I think Midway is getting better in this, so we maybe see another Kira level newbie from earth. Kung Lao's job is to basicly be the poster boy for earthrealm-LIu is past redemption I think, only a wonder or a drastic attitude and voice change could help him.

Kung Lao's appearance. Despite Liu being the classical chinese hero, Kung Lao looks more shaolin like. i never got the idea, why they are shaolin, since they are not the monk we know. Maybe they are from a special order (not the W.L.S.) or something.

Kung Lao is a pretty cool character. I like his look and special moves, but I never really cared too much for his storyline. However, he really had one hell of a presence in MK: DA. I saw him as the new main hero. I think it would've been more fitting if he were in MK1 instead of Liu Kang, especially since he is the descendant of the original Kung Lao who was defeated 500 years ago.

Kung Lao could've entered the Mortal Kombat tournament to not only defeat Shang Tsung but also defeat Goro, who killed his ancestor.

In MK: DA, all of Kung Lao's styles fitted him, but I didn't like his Shaolin Fist style that much because I felt it was kind of slow and rigid which is the opposite of what it's supposed to be. I wish he had more special moves in MK: DA like the Whirlwind Spin and Dive Kick. Overall, I was really impressed with Kung Lao. It was surprising that he was defeated by the Deadly Alliance. I hope to see him in MK7.

u know, i hardly ever pick Kung Lao to fight with, but atleast hes not an annoying character that gets in the way in the story. Kung Lao is really cool and i he has the COOLEST hat. He is definately one of the coolest characters in the MK series. He seems very strong, but Liu kang always steals his spot light for some reason

Holy Fucking Shit Do I hate Nitara. she is the werst female character ever. first off she is a vampire......vampires suck. they are so easy to kill. damn did i want sonya to Buffy her ass with her kali sticks right through the heart. she was a filler character and totally useless to the overlay of the mortal kombat story. if anything she wasted cyrax's toime when he could fought sektor or something coool. her moves in my oppinion suck hard. unicorn kick? since when did unicorns do a flip to kick anything! and i'm sorry but reguritating blood at people is kind of dumb. i dint like her styles either and its prolly for that reason that i don't like darrius or sindel either. her primary costume was ok but her alternate sucked hard it was like gothic geisha. her fatality is one of the werst in any mk game. however quan chi's neck one is at the top of that shittty list! Nitara i loathe you. i hope you either stay on your home planet or die...just as long as you are never mentioned or never have another vampire like waste of character slot again. Kung Lao Rules Baby! I think Nitara was really important storyline was. Why you may ask, it's simple, She was the one useing cyrax and reptile, she got cyrax to get her that orb, then later reptile comes and finds out that they arent there anymore, But suddenly the dragon king took over reptiles body. So its kinda Nitara cause for the Dragon Kings return and MK:D.

Her fighting styles for me were pretty easy to use, Once I picked her, I just randomly hit buttons and she was pretty good, then when I got to practice with her, she can be very quick if used properly.

Overall I give Nitara a 8/10.

Okay.. I know she wasn't the best female in MKDA, however I personally think she was more original than let's say... "other" characters. I think you guys who they are.

Unlike 'KungLaoDecendant' I do like her Alt, I love how she had her face painted I personally think it was a great alt.

Fatality: I know her fatality wasn't one of the best in MKDA however it wasn't the worst either.

Moves: I don't think her moves were that strong, however I personally like them. I think they were not that bad.

F. Styles: Okay... maybe they were not the best or the fastest, however they were good at some point or another.

Story: Yes!. I know people say she was just a waste of space, however her story could have many ways to go since she is neutral she could do a lot of things. Plus she is very manipulative that's one of the reasons that I like her. I mean Reptile was basically her pet. lol...sorry reptile fans but that's my opinion.

Nitara: I think overall she is not the best female character in MK, however I do think that if she returns with everything new and improve people will like her more. A good example of this is Tanya, just look at ther now. Anyway I hope she returns in MK7, because she has some unfinish business to do with some characters.

To Toxik: Nah, I still don't like Tanya.

Anyway, at first, I was kind of surprised that they'd put a vampire character in a Mortal Kombat game. I didn't really like the idea too much, but later on, I started to like her more. She didn't have too much of a storyline in MK: DA though I guess it was rather subtle. She is quite manipulative and also very knowledgable (sp?). I like her look though in some renders, I will say that it's not as feminine looking as it should be. The alternate costume is one that I don't really care too much for. I don't think she needs the make up on her face.

Fighting wise, she was a fast, but weak fighter. The Neijin in Fu Jow Pai greatly boosted her attack power. All of her styles do suit her. I like her "throw" move in which she bites you to get some health back. It's very useful and it can be kind of abusable. I wish she had a better command for the Blood Spit. It should've been something like B, F, 1 as opposed to F, B, 2. Her Unicorn Kick is pretty much like Tanya's Split Kick. I don't really use either of her special moves that much. I wish she had at least a couple more. One other thing that I would've like to have seen is for her to be able to fly since she has wings.

Her fatality was kind of predictable but it was pretty cool nonetheless. I would like to see her in MK7. I think she has potential.

NITARA: To KungLaoDecendant:
Do not compare her to the traditional vampires you know. She is far more than you know, and one thing is for certain: Buffy was the shittiest aproach to vampires ever! Even Blade was better than she.

Best concept ever for a female. A true undead creature what lives is as powerfull than anything. She looks pretty alive in MKD, maybe becouse she's not undead, but living on others blood. Great concept, and what got me for the first sight, that she has a resemblance with the traditional chinese-himalayan mythical creature, the RODJUNG, Rodjungs are powerfull blood drinking warrior or other spirits, what are indestructible, and they could only be banished or held at bay.

She looked better than Kitana who seemed to be overused, and nothing special was about her in MKD. The steel fans were okay in MK2, but besides that she got nothing to come up with (not even her age, she is still young aas like a 28 year old girl)

Great specials, but maybe a little unoriginal, but blood spit worked and looked like the shit! It was simply awesome. What i like about her, is that she's motives were left unrevealed, we certaibnly don't know that she is evil or neutral or even good. Her deceiving nature suspects some sneaky personality all right.

Conclusion: far more better than Kitana (and maybe Sonya) very good weapons and styles.

I also hate Nitara. I don't like the way she looks at all for starters. It looks like shes got stick on wings, and since when do vampires have wings anyway? Did you see any wings in Buffy? In Bramstoker? In anything??? Sure they change into bats in some legends but never do they have retarded floppy wings like some stupid fairy. They also look like the Dragon Kings wings only smaller. I don't mind the idea of a vampire in the game, and her alt. is crap she looks like she just had face paints on and wrestled with a garbage can.

Ok enough about her appearance. Her special moves were bad. Vampires don't spit blood at people thats just dumb aren't they supposed to be craving blood and drink it, since when would they ever just spit it out like they didn't want it... and unicorn kick really doesn't suit her character. Her fighting styles, I didn't like Leopard and I still don't when Darrius got it. I didn't mind the other one and her Kamas were the worst weapon anyone in the game has ever had. Her fatality was the only good thing about her, but even then, vampires don't suck oil out of a robot, or suck green whatever out of reptiles. Very flawed.

The MK storyline didn't need her in it at all, as someone said she is just filler and a lame attempt at trying something different. I wouldn't have minded if they had included a 'cool' vampire like Angel or Drusilla (Buffy). But they should just show her a crucifix and hopefully she will never be seen again. Well, maybe that pile of dust on the slaughterhouse floor ...

Finally the vampires in Buffy were great. You can't knock Buffy, or Angel for that matter. The vampires in those were great, more modern day vampires, and Blade sucked a big one IMO! And vampires are very much dead. The undead. Just thought of something else too. Nitara can fight in Wu Shu Academy, in the DAYLIGHT!!! Vampires can only come out at night, crappy character indeed, she isn't even a real vampire...

Nitara... I've always seen her as a cool idea that just didn't come out correctly. I
loved the prospect of a vampire kombatant but I imagined her operating a lot
more smoothly. Instead, she came out as one of the slowest and stiffest
fighters in the game. Her Leopard style is fast but overall useless, and I can
never lay a hit on anyone with Fu Jow Pai. Her kamas, I absolutely LOVE, but
they have limited uses. her storyline is very likeable, and I veiw her as one of
the most clever characters in the game. I wish I had more to say about her, but
that's just about it. =/

Maybe some of you guys don't like Nitara, because she is not the typical sexy girl like the others MK girls.. but I personally think she is cool plus her story can go in many directions too.

I think Nitara had one of the best stories in MK:DA. She was and still is my 2nd favorite female. Can't wait to see her comeback hopefully even more better.

I thought her story was stupid. I didn't mind the vampire part, but the whole freeing the vampire realm thing was too reminiscent of Kitana's original story with Edenia. And she didn't have enough involvement with the central story of the game.

Her fatality was great. It reminded me of Mileena.

Overall, I thought she was a decent kharacter, but if she is going to be in future MK games she will need a better story, far better specials, and a new weapon.

Yes her story didn't fit into the central story of MK:DA, But if you think about it her story was like the beginning of MK: Deception, because she was being followed by reptile, eventually who became one with Onaga. Without her, Reptile wouldn't have turned into the DK.

I agree with you. In some way.. she actually made the DK return maybe it wasn't that huge, but in a way she did.

i have to say that she looks super cool, but she doesnt really fit into the story....i also wanted her to be evil.....shes ok i guess, but im not a big fan of 'new' characters......

the thing i dont like is how midway always brings in new characters, and then forgets about em.....

Vampires don't have wings? In Bram Stokers book the winged nightmare is Dracula. The original Vlad "Tepes" Draculesti had wings after his death, and so on and so on, and so on... I'm quite trained myself in vampire folklore, since my fav. role[playing game is Vampire: The masquarade, and I'm also a sucker for any mythological thing.

So if you would like to know, I could come up with really-really lots of facts about vampires having wings. So this thing about her design is totally nonsense, becouse she is a vampire in any way. Actually it isd a little weak support for the actual dislike for Nitara.

And Buffy is the most stupidests and most loathed show ever to be created from scrapping the vampire lore idea.

Im not talking about Holy Water that the Catholic made up but just plain water. i heard it (actually, from Bloodrayne 1 & 2) that vampires hates water and if they touch water, they will burn. is true???

Well I remember the very first time I saw Nitara's render. I was quite shocked and amazed to be honest. I thought to myself that "This is exactly what MK needs....a vampire....whose a chick". After seeing more pictures of her, I realized how cool it would be to play as her. I was so anticipated to play as Nitara, that at one point, the only reason I wanted to play MKDA was because of her.

However, that wasnt the case. Nitara was the biggest let down new character in MKDA , IMO. The excitment I had prior to game was probably the main reason at to which I wasnt statisfied. I expected alot from her and instead nothing really amazed me. Her fatality was awful, her moves werent that decent, she seemed out of place....as if she was pulled right out of Transylvania and put into Mortal Kombat. Another thing was she actully looked FAT! Lol. When comparing Nitara's render to the Nitara in the game it looks like is in serious need of Jenny Craig.

One thing for sure is that Toxik is probably hating on me now. lol

Anyway I would give Nitara 5/10.
