Omg, why do U keep saying he is the best at MKDA? He is not the only person in the world U know? I mean, I have no doubt MKL is a great challange, but there are many people who I beleive could be better or the same as good as he plays. I for example consider my self to be a great MKDA player, I think I have many chances to win agaist great players or even loose to some that dont play good. Anyway, back to the topic. I would like to know what are the Top 5 fighting styles in the game. I say Tae Kwon Do to be the best style in the game. Not only Ive reading it in many posts here, but also playing with Sonya I realize she has the best low and high attacks mix combos, its fast and with power-up is even better.

Hapkido would have to be the next. Its fast, nice mix of high attacks and good low attacks.

Thats MKL for the Reptile tips. Because of that , a baby reptile is born I would like to get more indept about him. Also I would like some Scorpion tips as well. I wanna see if I'm using him right. Me and my friend are talking about throwing a tourney soon. We have everything but the venue to have it in. I'll keep you posted. Good shit on helping people out man.

Im going to answer a few things, for some of you guys about MKL

MKL has been on the mk scene, since ALOT of you were in elementary school. He has been on the tournament scene for many many years. Competing against the BEST players in the world for many different games.

MKL has defeated the best players, for many different Mortal Kombats. He has traveled year after year, showing off his skills.

MKL is recognized as #1 for MKDA. And he has earned respect from many gamers over the years.

I had a great time playing with him at TIT5. And I will say, at 28 years old..and playing MK since 93. He is the best I've ever played, hands down

How many other MK's have you played with him? I'll take your word he's good. Just saying there are people who play MK religously that don't go to tournaments that are probably just as good if not better. I won't take away whatever he's done but I just think the hype machine for MK competition is uneeded. I don't want to see this turn in to a tekken.net board. I just say save the ego at the door and pray MK6 is online so we can all play each other. I'll play him at past MK's on MAME once I get my broken computer back.

uhh.....top 5 styles.........that depends. too many people ask this question but its the wrong question to ask. different styles r good for different things. over all i fell that Pi Gua, Drunken fist, and Crab r the most overpowering styles. try picking a character and then ask "how do i use this style vs this....." or "how do i use this character when soeone does that theis......."

Actually I'm more curious now about these tournaments. How do you sign up and what system is used to play it on? I imagine that could be a problem somewhat. MK5.org should sponsor a tournament once a year for just MK players. That way more MK players will show up and it could be the official tournament instead of a Tekken tournament w/ MK. Have every MK game. That would be fun and I'd be in.

lol...........in MK2 Jax is the best. i dont care how good someones reptile or kitana or etc is not all characters can win in MK especially MK2. Jax and mileena r the best in MK2 then Liu Kang then everyone else then at the bottom scorpion, Sub-Zero, and reptile. if u disagree then please play me in Mk2 even though i hate mame i will galdly beat u with jax. regular MK3 Sub-Zero was broken. he was the best character hands down. In UMK gameplay was very balenced because so many characters were broken but even then there was a top 5. Kabal, Human Smoke, Kung Lao, Kano, and then Nightwolf. MK4 also had tiers.

going random select in MK stoped in Mk5 because unlike the past MK's all characters dont have the same normal moves. back then u could play every character reasonably well with just overall knowledge of the game because once u learn 1 character well then u already know the normal attacks of every character. MKDA isnt like that. i go random in MKDA but i wouldnt in a high level tourney. going random in MKDA means nothing except that u can play all the characters and not that u have more skill then someone else. better to go up 20 levels of skill with 1 character then 1 level of skill with 20 characters.

I gotta hand it to you MK_L, you're a funny guy. You sound so confident even though you're so wrong. I've already addressed this Tier issue numerous times, I won't go into it again. Let me explain a simple concept, you aren't as good with your bottom tier characters as you are with your top tier. That's why you have ranked them the way you have. Whether you believe you can use them or not is irrelevant, the fact of the matter is, you obviously can't play as well with those three as you can with your top three. Your Tier List is certainly not the definitive, as I said, every player will have their own characters that they are good at.

Another thing...you need to work on your grammar. This is a forum, not a chat room, so try and structure your sentences properly, yeah?

I've been playing since 1992 when the original was released. I've mastered every single move, every single combo and every single fatality from every single MK game over the last 11 years the franchise has been running. I've worked out my own strategies for every single fighter to ever appear in the MK series. I'm 23, but age should not be a factor. If you're basing it on how long he's played for (although it's difficult to tell whether you're talking about him or yourself), well, I've played a year longer. Although as I said, it's difficult to tell here whether you are talking about yourself or him.

I really like MK 1 alot...glitchiest one and all of the bugs are kool and fun turning invisible against Goro and Shang (shadow fighting) waking up the dead... Johnny cage= two heads one heads uppercut one head shadow kick or laser whiff fatalities awesome combos in certain versions, the juggling was really good in some of them. all characters could jump off the screen if timed correctly at the end of the match. there's tons of stuff...if I played it again I'm sure I could think of more.

You know, you're really not expecting me to answer these questions are you? You're just trying to be a smartarse. You really want me to answer them?

1. Johnny Cage in MK. It really depends on which version of MK you're talking about. Earlier versions has glitches that later versions didn't. What is common throughout the 4 or 5 arcade versions of MK is this:
All the characters in the original MK are by and large the same if you take away their special moves, so it's the moves you need to concentrate on. All characters have a infinite juggle if you get your opponent trapped at the edge of the screen whilst they are in the air...just constantly low punch. IMO, Johnny Cage's best move in MK is his Shadow Kick. It's fast and does good damage, and can be difficult to avoid. Depending on when you choose to do it, your opponent really needs to anticipate it coming. His nutcracker also has it's uses.

2. MK2, Reptile vs Jax. The thing to remember about Reptile is that he's a distance player. All his moves are designed to attack from a distance. Jax, on the other hand, is probably the best close-in fighter in the game. Obviously, if you let a competant Jax player get up in your face, you're going to have problems, so use your move to keep him at a distance. Jax only has 2 moves that can hit you from a distance, his force wave and his ground pound, both of which can be seen coming and can be avoided accordingly. Use Reptile's force ball and acid spits to keep him alert, slide when he lets his defenses down, and use aerial attacks + your slide move to your advantage. Disappear when you can too...it can give you a huge adavantage as long as you don't make your position obvious.

3. Sub-Zero does indeed have some cheesy moves in MK3 but none them are particularly overpowering. Sub-Zero is another distance player and this can be exploited a lot in MK3. Using his normal freeze move and mixing that up with is ice shower can confuse the opponent, then you've got his close and far ice showers as well. Use the far when they are retreating or the close if they are attacking. His ice clone is a great move to catch your opponents with. A good trick if they don't fall for it, is to jump over them and run into them, pushing them into it. If they aren't alert, they'll be frozen by it.

4. Sub-Zero is MK4 can be quite powerful if used correctly. Against Raiden, you need to watch out for his lighting blast and his flying thunderbolt moves. You can slide under the lighting blast, and counter his flying thunderbolt by blocking them immediately throwing out a freeze attack. Raiden's teleport is taken care of with the ice clone. His Ice Sceptre is a great weapon, not only can you knock your opponents sky high with it but you can also freeze them. Use the "uppercut swing" of the ice sceptre often, even if your opponent blocks it the cooldown time is next to zero and you'll be able to block any counter attack they can come up with.

I'm not going to answer that last one, I never said you all suck. If I did, please tell me where. I don't recall saying anything like that. I also don't recall myself claiming that I'm the best player on these boards. I think you'll find if you look back at my previous posts, I never said anything of that sort, so I really wish you'd stop making crap up and putting words into my mouth. All I said was that creating a generic Tier List doesn't work, and that MK_L isn't the world champion of MK no matter how much he tries to convince himself. I'm not denying he's good, but world champion? Pfft. You don't crown someone world champion by holding a few little tournaments that only a handful of people can attend.

all characters with a vacum punch have the advantage in the corner. Cage,Kano,Raiden...Raiden is technically the worst character.

Kanos ball is stronger than Cage's kick in MK1

You'll never know who's the best MK player in the world. Sure, from his expertise and what other vets here are saying MKL seems to be a great player, and I'll simply take their word for it. But I wonder if there is a tourney scene on other continents, too. I'd be really anxious to test my metal against other players. I own all MK games (some even multiple times for multiple platforms) and have also been playing the games for about 10 years (since I was 10 years old :)). I'd consider myself a good or, in a more arrogant mood, a very good player but I lack experience against many other players (there are too few people around where I live that want to play me) to deserve a master rank.

ANYWAY NOW... I'd just like to talk about strategies in a reasonable, courteous manner and hear everyone's arguments. Don't get so worked up everyone, it serves no use.

Anyway, earlier I asked some questions MKL about the tier list, Kitana and some various stuff, would you please answer them? (of course anyone else is free to answer them as well).
