Thanks for all the input guys.

Mr.Schpfmut and I played some last night.

I do think he played those matches tentatively. But, that was at a point where he was still trying to figure out my Drahmin.

Easy to see it coming, yes. But for his sake, he needs to figure it out. It is an intuitive strategy and any novice will assume that pattern.

I am trying my best to train these guys. We played last night, and got a couple of matches.

I like the mavado vs. kano match. It is similar to the Sub vs. Scorpion match up but more balanced.

Alot of me getting random selected to good characters and winning.

BRC, Scorpion, Shang, Drahmin...good stuff

I tried out MKL's scorpion strategy and it worked out pretty good. It is a streamlined and focused approach to the "RAGE" technique.

I played tight most of the night and it shows...but there are only about ten matches or so. we started playing and never really got around to taping...I'm sure there will be other times.

can't wait to see what goes up next...thanks for all the comments guys.

What's MKL's scorp strat? I mostly go for the 2,2,4 hapkido set up and switch it up with Pi Gua Rage (copyright Konqrr) grin

the best way to explain will be to show it to you.

if you will be patient, it will be up soon enough.
Pi Gua Rage was a term that came up in testing...

At least it's better than mine. I have a 28.8 K. It's been 2 hours and 30 minutes and the file I'm downloading is only at 59%. To make it worse, it's only the first movie...

I'd like to see what the previous fuss was about pertaining to the "skill level" of the players. After watching them, I'll give my input on my thoughts. Don't worry, though, there won't be any furious FLAMES furious.

It'll be awhile for any new matches (a week or so, maybe sooner). I just went out and got the parts for my new computer and I'm in the process of building it...for some reason, Windows ME and 2000 won't recognize my 80GB hard drive so I'm tracking down WXP.

Once I get everything running right again, more vids will be posted.

Happy Easter everyone!

Unlike some other morons here, I'll give you a critique of each fighter.

Ray - I reckon you're relyng a bit too heavily on Drahmin's specials. I was able to tell what move you were going to pull and when you were going to pull it, and I think Mr. Shpmduf knew that a bit, although he obviously wasn't too confident in picking it. Although VERY nice combos when you were able to pull them off. A suggestion would be to power up, stun your opponent with a low attack before launching into a combo - it's true the combo will lose some effect, but you will still be able to pull it off with some severe damage done. I wouldn't want to go against you Drahmin vs Drahmin 'cause you'd probably beat me.

Mr. Schmpfd (or however u spell ur name) - I'm assuming u don't know much about Sonya She has VERY good combos when you can pull them off. It's very easy to mix-up combos, switching from Kenpo to TKD and then throw in a Kali to Kenpo for a bit of fun. I suggest you practise some style branches Kenpo to TKD, throwing in a power-up somewhere in there, 'cause she has EXCELLENT combo potential.

i agree. dont be afraid of taking a few hits. you rely to much on blocking and special moves. your drahmin is repetitive and cheap (no offense)

(from drahmin and sonya vid)
ball o'flies: 9 times
propeller clock: 3 times
ground pound: 11 times
b. kick: 16 times (geeze)

your close game was combined with blocking and repeated high attacks.(looked as if you got nervous and was just hitting buttons) you can win matches by not blocking at all. i hardly block at all. im a side step man. you seem to be concerned to much about winning. dont be afraid to loose. it pays off later down the road. to me, its not about winning or loosing. its about honor. i dont beleive in cheap wins. as long as you do your best and look good why you are doing it, than its all good.

its like a real fight..2 men square off face to face. both of them know that one of them is gonna get beat down. and both of them know that all they have to do i kick the other guy in the nuts, and it will be over. but, that would be cowardly and cheap and neither of them do it. theres no skill in it. they suck it up, fight it out, the better man wins, and the looser learns how to improve his game.

I don't believe in being cheap anymore...
I believe in using whatever works. If I can't figure out what someone else is doing, that's my fault.
By the same token, if they can't figure me out that is their fault.
You can'y play with "honor" against someone whose only goal is to beat you.
bottom line is that i am not going to lose very much against the comp that I have. I'm proud of the effort they put in, but I have a huge advantage. Perhaps playing against me is improving their game...but I am not and haven't been developing at the same pace as I was when I wa splaying every day against people with the sam e skill level or better.

I'm watching the Johnny Cage video right now, pausing it to type this.

Because there is so much in this, I'm going to do a round by round critique.

Mr.S - You got lucky. Ray didn't quite know how to take you and you took full advantage of it. Good ploy. I think you relied a bit too heavily on the special moves though, and you're VERY lucky that the final Forceball struck, otherwise I'd say you probably would have lost. Nice combos there as well.

Ray - You went in a bit too aggressively and it cost you, I think. Someone who's always on the offense is bound to slip up. If Mr. S was more confident with Cage, and around the same skill-level as you are with him, you probably would have got beaten pretty bad, because you presented Mr. S with far too many opportunities. I like your combos though, especially that style branch from JKD to Nunchaku to Karate.

Round 2

Mr. S - A bit more defense and I think you would have caused Ray a bit more trouble. He was expecting your forceballs and he countered your combos quite well. I doubt you ever really had a chance in this fight.

Ray - Well done, your defense was superb. I also like how you changed your combos from Round 1, and you countered pretty good as well. Mr. S didn't really have a chance because you didn't give him one.

Round 3

Both your defenses were brilliant, and although the fight started off a bit tentaively, I thoroughly enjoyed watching it once things got warmed up.

Mr S - You're pretty good with Cage, although not as good as Ray. It showed when you pulled out a special moves where Ray gave you a chance to unleash a combo or two. It looked like you were staging a comeback toward the end of the fight, and had you been able to successfully pull off a taunt, you may have won, but as you couldn't, a low shot from Ray got you.

Ray - Still even more combos, going back to the ones you pulled off in Round 1 and combinign them with a few others you introduced in Round 2, keeping Mr. S guessing as to what you were going to pull off next. Good defense as well. Only thing I would suggest is to be a bit more cautious when performing special moves, as if you don't pull them off, you tend to leave yourself open to an attack.

Round 4

Mr S - I reckon you should have won this round, unfortunantly for you Ray managed to pull out even more combos. You didn't take full advantage of the chances he gave you, and he even had time to do a taunt. I'd like to see a rematch of you two when you've had a bit more practise at JC, though.

Ray - Good defense, and you introduced even more combos. You took your chances and you won the match desicevly because of it.

Generally, I enjoyed this fight, both fighters are of a higher caliber with JC, and would probably knock me senseless if I ever came up against them. My only disappointment with this fight was an extreme lack of Nunchaku's. It's quite possible to pull off 11 hit combos with them along, and if they're put at the end of a JKD combo you can quite easily rock up over 50% damage. It's just a matter of taking chances and making the most of them, and that's why Ray won. I'd love to see a re-match when Mr. S has got a bit better.

BAJAR-MC, can't thank you enough for that post, Constuctive criticism is what we're going for here, as well as gameplay comments to help our and everyone's gameplay. I think your post is the best reply on this thread so far. I'll have to practice a little more with Cage cause he is not close to being one of my best.

Ray, thanks for the comments, I feel the same. If I didn't, I would NOT drive through the ghetto to hang out. And hey today's my 21st so we can hit the bars before or after MK!

I'm typing this message from my new computer! ...and am in the process of relocating files and getting everything in order.

It looks like I'm going to have to learn how to use Adobe Premiere cuz Pinnacle Studio don't install on this thing. So no movies until I get it all figured out, it'll be soon though.

Laterz.

Very kool Konqrr! Premiere is a great program, I think is very easy to use and does everything.

What kind of video card did you get? I would definately recommend to you and everyone else to get an ATI card. They do so much, from amazing gameplay, video capture, dual monitor support, TV tuning.

Man i hate sounding like I'm trying to sell something... But they are soooo cool!

1. I know! My old computer had some serious issues and froze up when I tried to use DivX or Premiere, but now I can do some REAL COMBO MOVIES! Not the one-liners that I have been doing.

2. My motherboard is an ASUS with a built in video card. It doesn't have the right hookups for video capture, so I will have to get my PCTV card working or buy a Belkin USB doohickey smile

Still moving files...I wish I knew how to network it'd be easier, but I'm almost done anyways. Need to install a newer version of DirectX to get my capture card working.

New computer is 6x faster than my old one and it was a fourth of the cost!

Cheers. I knew that's what you guys were going for in this thread, and I figured I'd take the time to add a few comments.

I've probably learnt more from you guys than I could teach you, though! Thanks to that Cage video you put, I finally pulled off a 16 hit style combo from Karate to JKD, and finishing it off with my 11-hit Nunchuk attack. 52%

I'll take note of the buttons I pressed next time!
