On a scale from 1 to 10? Easily a 5.5.

An 8 because it introduced weapons and was the first 3D MK game also every character looked different even the ninjas, the only signifcant flaw was the lack of replay value and sort of lame secret characters.

i give it a 7.5
Good idea
nice characters
good gameplay
liked the fact they brought back the darkness of the game.
only downfall is that you couldnt free roam and that its a little buggy. Overall its a great game and i still play mk gold on my dreamcast all the time.

Well I admired MK4 for trying to bring back some of that MK1/MK2 feeling with an addition of a darker feeling.
Positives: good 3-D graphics, return of dark feeling/bit of chinese mythological vibes, weapons, Sub-Zero in a ninja suit, somewhat distinctive ninja suits, music, MK1/MK2 fatalities in 3-D with an addition of some new fatalities, and the extinction of the other alities and friendship
Negatives: the cinematics were kind of cheesy. I wished there were a few more characters. it lacked the replay value MKT had. I didn't like Kai, Tanya and Shinnok that much. Fujin was "ok". There were as many special moves per character like before.
Overall, I'd give MK4 an 8 out of 10.

Hmm.., well I'll admit it was alot better than MK3. Even though they both (MK3 and MK4) introduced some of the worse characters in the series' history.
The things that made MK4 good, I'd say the weapon system. It was a nice introduction and I am glad they kept/improved it for MKDA. The characters, well I really only found Reiko to ever be worthy of making a return in the future. Jarek was just a Kano replacement, and I didn't care for Kai or Tanya. Fujin, well he wasn't the best, also since another god was in the game, it took away from him. Shinnok, while having a good storyline in my opinion, wasn't very good. He should not have had a morph system. It was only ripping of Shang Tsung, and it wasn't near as cool as Shang actually transforming into the person. Shang Tsung should have been the only character with a morphing abiltiy. The secret characters were better that MKDA's, well unless there is another one hiding somewhere. Goro and Noob were good, but of course Meat was pointless. Overall, I'd give the game a 7.9.

8.3
graphics: 9.0
sound&music: 9.0
gameplay: 8.0
lastability: 3.0
it's a good game and a good first 3d-attempt, but once you've seen all the fatals and such it gets old pretty soon... (quotation from GamePro!)
But I still play it sometimes...

ARCADE VERSION: 5 (graphics)
HOME VERSIONS: 0
not even MK gold on sega dreamcast looked as good as arcade, even though midway said it was better. blood was a cheap bright red, unlike arcade, it was dark red, and the characters were short and small.
but a cheap game overall. combo system was lame.

MK4 is probably the worst in the series, there's no doubt in my mind. Boring gameplay, stiff looking characters... Just... It all sucked. Plus there were many errors in the arcade version.
2 outta 10.
2 outta 10.
