Everyone knows that the computer cheats, but that's what makes mk so challenging. anyone want to give feedback on the most frustrating experiences? mine would probably be sub-zero being able to freeze while u ar already slipping on his stupid ground freeze .Arcade(mk2). Or Motaro's rediculous 3 fireballs on the screen at the same time juggle in mk3.furiouswow

basically, just the way they can throw you out of anything, seemingly from half a screen away. That annoyed me in MK II more than anything else.

OMG don't get me started!!

aside from doing stuff on command, they: move faster than you, know what you gonna do, and do their special moves in any position. and thats just the 2d games ( MK, MK2, MK3,UMK3,MKT)

God I hate the fuckin cpufuriousfurious

Don't forget in the mk3 series (dunno about 4, DA or D) that some of the CPU's ground combos do more damage than humans can do with the same combos...

For instance: If the Cpu pulls Sub Zero's 6 hit (Hp, Hp, Lp, Lk, Hk, B+Hk) ground combo on you, it will take off 30%. If you do the exact same combo to the CPU (or another human player) it only takes off 23% - it's like some weird human damage protection...

There's a good example of this in the UMK3 attract mode. If you leave the game to go into the attract mode the first fight you'll see is cpu Jade vs cpu Kung Lao - Jade pulls her 7 hit auto combo but with a kick starter and takes off 46%wow Whereas if you go do the same 8 hit combo it's about 10% less damage...
---

But other than that, things that the CPu does that pisses me off:

- The insanely annoying MK2 throws

- Shao Kahn just attacking without stopping in MK3/U/T

- Inhuman abilities: Such as Liu Kang performing 2 bike kicks in a row (ok I proved that it can be done by human players, but it would be almost impossible in a match). Kabal being able to spin you 3 or 4 times while you are already spun.

- Pulling the one defensive move that counters the offensive move you just did.

- Abusing the characters teleports

- The way it often just waits for you to attack, then blk's and counters

- Jade

- Noob Saibot

I'm sure there are others and if I think of them / experience them I'll post here again.
Thing,s I have seen in MK Games so far while playing against the CPU:

MK2:

Kitana Double Fan:
Yes I have seen this on my Arcade Machine, Kitana has done 2!! Fan throws at one time, you can see 2 Fan,s no shit.
Kitana Fan, no delay. She can throw fan,s without delay.
Scorpion Harpoon without delay and so on..

Then the throw thing, I mean the CPU can throw you from far away, but thats not the funniest thing.
The funniest thing is that the CPU can throw you out of Special Moves!
Like:
Johhny Cage Shadow Kick throw out.
Ninja Slide, Raidens Torpedo, and some other moves.

Shang Tsung:
Now that,s where it starts getting rediculous.
There was one time where I bite my ass that I didnt recorded the action:

Shang Tsung morphs into Kitana, then after 10 seconds morph back into Shang.
Then Shang Tsung makes a Zip Punch!!!
He has simply forgotten that he is not Kitana anymore lol!!!
And because of the fact that Shang hasnt the Zip Punch animation he just was floation in the air with the movement of the Zip Punch!!!!!!!!
This was the rarest event I ever have seen in MK2.

MK3:

Cyrax: 3 times Net in a row but the first Net allready got me, the 2 others hit me then too lol.

Kabal: 3 times Top Spin in a row.

Kano: 2 times Cannon Ball in a row.

Liu Kang: 2 Bicycle Kick,s in a row that pushed me into the corner then 7 hit auto combo then throw out of corner.

Sektor: 3 times TeleportUppercut in a row! It even has count as a combo.

Sheeva: No shit, 6!! times Teleport Stomp in a row, the funny thing is, you only get the damage from the first then you just have to wait until she stops lol!

UMK3:

Jade: Performing the Projectile Shield and the Shadow Kick at the same time.

I dont count the inhuman reflexes that the CPU have, because these are not reflexes but "button reading" the CPU simply read your actions and instantly use the counter that was programmed.
That,s like much fighting game CPU,s work but in MK games you can see it a the very cheapest way.

In MK4..say you have SubZero freeze some guy, right? Well, SubZero could try to throw him, but the other guy inexpicably throws Sub instead.

There are so many things that annoy me about the cpu in the MK games. Starting with the first MK. Have you have noticed that the cpu just pummels you with high and low punches, even after they won the round? Why can't I do that to the cpu. It just annoys the hell out of me.

In MK II it was definitely the throws. The computer abused throws so much it wasn't even funny. Granted, there are ways around it but when you get thrown out of a sure hit, it tends to piss you off a bit.

There was one MK game where the cpu actually slid towards you, was that MK II? I can't remember.

In MK3 and UMK3, Krsx said it in one word....Jade. lol.

But I have experienced Sheeva's throws and stomps, my gosh thats annoying. I often get thrown before I get back up. And Stryker, man, Stryker is alright to play as but when the CPU picks him, he becomes a bad word. No wonder not a lot of fans liked him. :)

In MK II for the Zsnes emulator is a pain in my ass on any difficulty level above easy. The computer is so damn cheap with throws. While in the middle of me executing an uppercut the computer interupts it with a throw. Or when I throw a punch while my fist is going to hit the opponent from a distance further than throwing, when my arm makes contact I get thrown. And in MK2 the damage given by a throw is alot so that really pissed me off.

I agree with everything here.

I was just playing trilogies and was Kabal. I dashed at Cage and he managed to throw me. WTF?

Me throwing Kabal out of the spin.

And also, every single MK game is easy to beat, each and every character. My suggestion is to try and find people to play because playing the CPU is pointless. There's so many ways to trick the computer into losing it's not even funny. I don't see how anyone loses.

Matt
LoL I dont lose, this topic was not about loosing against the CPU, its just talk about how cheap and unfair it is.
I can beat most of MK,s with one credit thats not the point, the point is that the CPU cheats like hell in MK games.
And you cant say the CPU is easy, only when you know some pattern its easy.
Try to beat for example MK2 (Arcade) on very hard lets say with Kung Lao in 1 credit.
I doubt that it will be very easy because the jump backward pattern doesnt work with him.
Or UMK3 with Sheeva or Sonya on highest tower on very hard in one credit, its actually not that easy.
(without use of pattern all the time)

I am so friggin' spoiled on human competition. I honestly don't think I've had a single CPU fight since my first game on Kaillera, late last year. I could learn how to fight the CPU more effectively, but it wouldn't even feel like a game to me anymore. Human opponents are my new crack.

you wanna hear something crazy, i remember in mk2, kintaro kept throwing his fireball through the whole round from beginging 2 end, round was over in 7 secs (yes i remember 2 this day) I was furious. Another thing i hated is when u'd knock someone down and in half a sec they back jump kicking you without even getting upfurious and the worse is when they used 2 only have a # of times you could continue then you'd start all over again.sad I remember that stuff used 2 make wanna throw dat genesis out the window

U R 100% correct. Jade needs no reason just fight her and you'll see why she is a cheat. Also you cant do any throws or combos when you r on the ground because no matter what (even if you start ur elbow or knee movement) you will be throw.

But aw well. You win some and you lose some. Im not gonna stress my self out over it and cry lol.grin

You forgot Smoke in MK2...He throws you and if you try to turtle he runs like 50 MPH across the screen and throws you again. Some bogus shit right there. Oh yeah if he throws in the the corner....before you even land he throws you again.

Shao Kahn MK2: If you do that blade fury or fan lift or liu kang low fireball pattern on very hard you will get your ass handed to you, then he'll say, "that was pathetic"

It becomes trivial when you have to explain to people how to beat certain, if not all characters, even more trivial than actually playing the CPU itself. Here is an example of both Kabal and Human Smoke vs Jade CPU, on double master, 5th character in the line up. The computer is almost always annoying to some level, but quite beatable. If anyone has any requests, I'll show you how to beat her with any character, using the various universal methods to beating characters as well on version 1.2.

There's no sound so don't worry:

www.darktemplarz.com/umk3/smokevsjade.wmv

www.darktemplarz.com/umk3/kabalvsjade.wmv

Nothing I do here is by chance, I know what will work exactly when, so if you're like "Oh you're just getting lucky." - not true. Only reason I get hit is cause I screw up.

Matt
LoL, your always starting making videos to show people something.
But you cant denie that the CPU is cheap&cheats, that was all about this topic if I have understand it right?

Again, its not the point that there are ways wich you can beat the CPU
By the way I allready beat UMK3 with Human Smoke multiple times on very hard top tower without pattern.
Just block and wait for chance to harpoon them, than 50%+ combo if enemy doesnt move air telepunch over his head until he moves, of course you can do it.
But the cpu cheats and is still cheap like hell.
And you simply cant play "normal" against the CPU because of the cheating.

I already was thinking about making a video to show the cpu can badly beaten in many ways in different MKs, but that wouldnt change the fact that he is cheap and cheating and NOT easy if your not deeper in the game in some MKs.

I can understand why people have problems beating the CPU that are not hardcore or at least deeper into MK games.
And I think there is no other Beat em Up (fighting game hehe :) ) series that has such a cheap&cheating CPU than MK.

Yeah, but the point is, why does it matter to anyone that the CPU cheats when they are so easy to beat? If they didn't cheat, would they even play the CPU? Be glad they cheat at all.

kungbroken, i think you missed the point . There is no argument about how hard or easy it is to beat the cpu. "everyone knows the computer cheats, that's what makes it challenging", meaning not boring. of course anyone can beat jade or whoever, but you have to admit it's funny/ sometimes frustrating to see weird things the cpu does, like Kabal walking in the air on old version of mk3 or shang tsung lifting into the air thinking he's still kitanasleep

No I completely got the point, it's point"less" to complain about a CPU cheating, which is why I bring up the fact that you don't have to allow the CPU to cheat at all and beat them. This type of thread can be found probably 8 or 10 times on this site yet no one ever looks. Find the thread, post your bump, get the thread closed and be done with it.

This is the internet. There is rarely a point to any discussion. This is just a place where we can talk about how insane the cpu can get with their moves. We have all beaten it but it is still cheap as hell.
