It says in Reptile's de-evolution in the extras that the longer he stays away from the matriarch, the more he regresses to a more primal state. A matriarch is something that means something along the lines of a woman that rules a tribe or clan or something, perhaps reptile's race is ruled by a matriarch?
Reptile becomes more primal the longer he is away from his home world, i.e. Zaterra.
Of course in MK6, pretty much anything could happen with him.

Your information is wrong, SubZero.
On the extras, is says nothing about a female ruler of any kind.
You misunderstood the message.

here is the complete text:

"Reptile's changing physical and mental state may be linked to his prolonged separation from his people. The longer he remains away from the matriarch, the more he regresses to a more primal state."

It does mention a matriarch.

To Subzero-
They obviously refer to the matriarch as his home realm, not as an actual female ruler.

To versatile-
No, it's not me, it's Chad Kaplan from the RE movie, played by Martin Crewes, that sexy hunk.

Hey, you never know. Reptile could be the Dragon King himself, in MK6. Why you ask? Because notice how in his ending, the Great Dragon Egg blasted a beam of light into his body, and then for transformed him into something way superior than his previous reptilian form. But that's just my opinion and it's what I think.

There are three rules for doing scientific research. Unfortunately, no one knows what they are.

Subzero is right. The word "matriarch" only has one meaning: "female ruler", often with maternal connotations. It can't possibly refer to a land or country, just like "king" can't be a synonym for "kingdom".

So matriarch only has 1 meaning? Makes sense, I never heard of matriarch meaning homeworld before, Im just going to make the assumption from now on that the raptor race was ruled by a queen or something before Kahn's takeover.

Matriarch can also mean home-place-thing, and it defenetly sounds like they meant it that way, the way they say it in the extras.

Never, in my twenty years on this earth, have i heard the word "matriarch" used with the meaning "home world". Straight from The American Heritage College Dictionary 3rd edition...

matriarch -
1) A woman who rules a family, clan, or tirbe
2) A woman who dominates a group or an activity
3) A highly respected mother.

No mention of it meaning anything along the lines of homeland. I'd really like to know where the word matriarch has ever been used to mean anything other than what's listed above. Cuz it sure would be news to me.

Not only that, but where in the statement made about Reptile's devolution does it hint towards it being homeland instead of matriarch. the statement seemed pretty clear to me. The longer Reptile is away from the matriarch (the female ruler of his clan of raptors) the more he devolves into an animalistic state.

Could leave open the possibility for Reptiles character, and i wouldn't be surprised to see him even more beast like in MK6, although i believe something of that nature was mentioned by one of the developers back at fight night.

It doesn't mention it in the statement about his homeworld, but that's what the understanding of Reptile's de-evolution was. The longer away he is from his home world, i.e. Zaterra, the more primal he becomes.
Can't remember where I read it, it may have been the fight night transcript.

But yeah, Reptile is going to completely change in MK6, as you said, it was said at fight night.

Matriarch comes from the latin word "mater," meaning mother. I took four years of latin in high school.

Very interesting information, I have to agree that its most likely to mean “a female leader” or something then a “home-place”. Very good info dude!

The mother and ruler of a family or of her descendants; a ruler by maternal right.
