Something interesting to note: on one of Daniel Pesina's youtube videos (the ones of the recording of Mortal Kombat), he mentions that Tony Marquez (Kung Lao), his son Taylor is doing the recording as the new Kung Lao. Not at all a 100% confirmation but something interesting to hear.

Daniel Pesina's youtube is http://www.youtube.com/user/wushucoach

Interesting, that would make sense. Plus TRMK's original article mentioned that the original cast would be involved in some capacity, so it looks like Dan Pesina may somehow be involved again. I wonder with WB at the helm and not Midway that Dan Pesina can actually collaborate on the MK games again. After all, until he started posting these videos, we haven't seen any involvement from him in the MK world since MKII.

Pesina posting the videos could somehow be related...

I wonder if they will possibly throw in a MK trilogy-ish version as well since this appears to be a graphic upgrade of sorts. this would seem to be their only opportunity to do it. they probably won't but if all three games are together and being remade at once they could easily get all the backgrounds, characters, etc. and do it right. I dunno...just a thought. I think it might work. regardless 1, 2, and Ultimate, and online play will make me more than happy so ...this i'm in no way complaining smile

Considering these 3 never had a proper re release in this fashion. Since you either needed to have the MKDecep collectors ed to play MK1, Midway Treasures or MK SM to play MK2(which neither work on PS3 or 360), or PSN MK2. And a XBLA UMK3.

Here they are doing all 3 and giving them all a fresh look. And most of you are going OMGZ NOS!?

We are getting the 3 BEST games in the series here. If this is coming out, I'll be picking it up.

Don't forget the special edition of Mortal Kombat Armageddon, which also had UMK3.

But I agree, I'm all up for this coming out (especially if there may possibly be an MK9 demo), yet people are finding something to gripe about. I don't get it. When they announced Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, the only thing people griped about were the release date delays (as there were PLENTY of them). No one said it was a "waste of time" or anything like that.

However, for some reason, despite the fact that this takes NOTHING away from the next main MK game, apparently this game is a waste of time. But, then again, everyone's entitled to an opinion.

If they're in fact redoing digi captures for the games, this is going to be more than just awesome... especially if it pertains to MK1 and MK2.

But still... if they're going through all that, why not make MKT too? All you do is copy and paste programming code and graphics from MK1/MK2/UMK3...... with a few minor tweeks. I'll pay the extra $10 if that's what's holding them back.

This Kollection pertains to the ARCADE versions of the series. So MKT is out...

And didn't MK1 take like 6 months to make? All the code is still their as far as gameplay. Just updated character models, and backgrounds.

It really should just be a matter of switching out sprites, similar to Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. I would think it would be quicker, as SSFIITHDR involved hand drawing every individual sprite and adding colors, shadows, highlights, etc. In this case, it's just an actor standing in front of a blue/green screeen performing the maneuver. Sure, some post-production tweaking, but nothing too drastic.

Bring on some screenshots!

Yeah, that makes more sense to me. An HD MKT remake that properly spans the original trilogy storyline would be far less time consuming and more rewarding. I don't think too many people will complain that Scorpion or Reptile uses the same outfit across the chronology if it's just the one game.

But this news would only really be interesting if they actually fixed the games in the first place. The first Mortal Kombat is outdated, broken, and clunky. Really, it would make more sense to just use the UMK3 engine for an MKT remake, and fix all of the broken shit in that game.

*sigh* I REALLY want to see some official news on this project!

I'm sorry, as I've said before, an HD remake of the original games (mainly MKII) is something I've wanted to see ever since Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix was announced (and then, of course, released).

After reading from Dan Pesina that Anthony Marquez's son would be playing Kung Lao in the remakes, my interest peaked even more. Ironically, it was around then that WB stepped in to take down those MK1 behind the scenes videos. Heh, so this Kung Lao would be a descendant of another Kung Lao wink

From what we've read, Warner Brothers has been filming the actors in a Los Angeles studio, rather than somewhere in Chicago, where the actors for the original games were digitized. I wonder if (and hope that) Ed Boon has any say in the production as well. Obviously his hands are full with MK9/MK2011, but I could still see him sending feedback towards WB Games.

Also, with the behind the scenes videos taken down, I now feel like WB may take this footage and make it an unlockable feature in the game. Like, say, beat MK1 with Johnny Cage and watch the original 1992 digitization process for the character (perhaps even the newly shot HD footage). I don't know if any video footage was saved for MKII, but obviously there was a ton of video footage shot at the time of MK3.

This is what I think would be the perfect release:

-All three games, MK1/MKII/UMK3, remade in HD (no upconverts), with the original gameplay mechanics
-The original arcade ports of MK1/MKII/UMK3 in perfect condition (no low volume on MK1's Palace Gates level, for example)
-Unlockable extras featuring rare retrospective behind the scenes photos and videos from the original first three games (I vaguely remember screencaps of a CES where Dan Pesina and Anthony Marquez gave an exhibition as Cage and Kung Lao), as well as behind the scenes footage of the remakes. Interviews with the new and old cast members would be great too.
-Playable demo for MK9/2011, based on the E3 build (I think 8 characters is plenty for a demo).

With all of this, I could see this as an actual disc-based release rather than just a PSN/XBL release... I could be wrong though. Either way, these are just some of the things I'd like to see. But then again, we still need that official announcement...

Does anybody think they will have the old music make a return? Maybe updated versions of each song, just to make it sound better with sound systems people have today, unlike back then. I would LOVE to hear the MK2 Theme Music or The Church in MK3 with better quality!

It's already available in CD quality? What more did you want?

If they can release an updated version of XBLA UMK3 with all the bugs fixed, i'd be more than happy with that.

Hopefully this will be well worth the time they're apparently putting into it.

So far, from what I'm hearing, it's probably official & is coming out on PS3. If so, this better arrive on 360 as well or I'm going to be steamed. The MK series isn't a 1st party series like Ico, God Of War, & Shadow Of The Colossus (in which Sony is currently having HD remakes/collections) are.

I just think that it doesn't make sense not to tell people about it and wait like they are to either confirm or deny the game, specially when the suppose release date is less than 2 months away from the listing of some websites.

What also is odd is that its only for the PS3 right now and not both ps3 and xbox360. Could WB of made a deal with sony for a time exclusive? Sure, not like Microsoft hasn't done that before and those games come to ps3.

One thing that this should be is the actual arcade games since the title of the so called kollection is MK HD ARCADE Kollection. So why would anyone think it would be the last 3 games and not the first 3 or 4 games that were in the actual arcade? Don't get me wrong, I have a ps3 so im good with this but for those who don't and only have a x360 then I am sorry if it doesn't come to you guys right away or at all cause thats kinda not fair.

Oh well, lets all wait and see, but I will be very upset if this is the last 3 games as most fans are wanting the first 3 or 4.

Again, one last thing, it doesn't make sense if WB did actually film new actors for the games for it to be the last 3 games but no confirmation has been made from WB to state either way so its just all around weird to me.
