Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 = Mortal Kombat 3 in MAT2?

Pay close attention to the trailer on the upper right, it is an updated version of the trailer we have already seen. They updated it to now include Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 footage which replaces most of the MK3 footage we previously saw, which leaves me to believe that the version of Mortal Kombat 3 in this collection will in fact be Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 but it will be just be called Mortal Kombat 3 in the collection. I don't think Midway would update that for nothing.

Yeah, I saw Jade's desert and Jax's double missle.

It seems to be comprised of UMK3 footage, but we still can't make an assumption of the game being UMK3 in MAT2.

It showed Mileena and Kitana. It better be UMK3. They are just calling it MK3, to keep it simple.

Holy shit. This is either too good to be true, or they got a SHITLOAD of hatemail for removing MK1 and decided to make it UMK3 instead. Maybe they are trying to rewrite history and make believe MK3 didn't happen.

If you read DA's Krypt items about UMK3 ,the MK team even calls it MK3.

I have noticed this as well, we can only hope they will "do the right thing" here and give us what we deserve. It needs netplay, that would tear open the UMK3 scene.

If it's UMK3, and it has Online Play, it will be AWESOME! Imagine playing UMK3, an arcade perfect port, with Online Play.

I can't wait, it SHOULD have online, but it's not being advertised so I doubt it will. I would buy a $20 UMK3 stand alone game with netplay for PS2. It want to tear shit up.

I still think it is MK3. If you look at the box art for MAT2, it has the MK3 logo on it. That's the logo that was around box arts for the home system ports. UMK3's box arts had the blue skeletons behind them everywhere. Albeit every MK fan would want UMK3 simply because it's an upgrade, looks like we'll be getting MK3.

But like someone else mentioned, the MK team dubs UMK3 "MK3". So wishful thinking has me thinking it is UMK3, but called MK3 like it should be.

How can we know for sure that it's really UMK3 on MAT2 and not just some random arcade footage Midway used on the trailer like they did with MK1 and MK II where they showed the same exact footage available in the History of MK video, during the first MAT2 trailer?

I don't want to get excited or jump to conclusions yet.

MAT2 's MK3 is just going to be MK3 from what I've seen from the video. I haven't seen any screen pics or parts of the video that would point to UMK3 in. UMK3 is sort of like the 2nd part of MK3. Diff games but both closely tied to the storyline that MK3 set off and MKT ended. I think we will have to wait till MAT3 to get UMK3.

They specifically show Jade's Desert, Kitana, and Mileena fighting eachother. They will have a false advertising claim against them now if they DON'T have UMK3 on the disc.

They show Smoke and Kabal fighting in Jade's Desert and UMK3's Kitana and Millena fighting in the bell tower.

Good news apparently, but I want BOTH.

UMK3 is better overall, but I often prefer to play MK3 in single player. MK3 has much better presentation, a better story and better AI.


The lack of UMK3 has always been absurd. For the arcade versions they're technically not even seperate games. It's the same pcb, it's just a rom upgrade. It'd be like putting MK II rev 1.4 in MAT2.

I haven't played UMK3 in a while, but weren't some MK3 stages absent from UMK3, or replaced with the new UMK3 stages??
