No, it is ilegal no matter what, there are only two ways to legally have a back up of a game you own:

Cartidages:

#1 - You actually make the ROM yourself, since you own the game you are entitled to do this though you aren't entitled to download it from a third party source even if you do own the game.

#2 - You create another cartidage of the game yourself

Disc Based games:

- Using a CD Burner or DVD Burner, though it must be your copy that you are copying and you aren't allowed to sell the copy for profit though you could sell the original copy of the game.

I really hope they planning MAT 3 there are enough games to put in there: Smash TV, UMK3, MK4, NBA JAM (and TE and Hangtime), Cruis,n USA (and World), War Gods, 2on2 Open Ice, The Grid.
Terminator 2 and Revolution X with Lightgun Support would be cool too.

Let's see:

UMK3, MK4, Revolution X, Terminator 2, and War Gods could happen.
The NBA Jam name is now owned by Acclaim.
Smash TV is on MAT1.
The Cruis'n series is owned by Nintendo.
Open Ice and The Grid are still relatively new (1998 or later), so I doubt they'd put those on there.

I still think the worst thing about this MAT2 business is that the IN-GAME MENU shows UMK3. A teaser is one thing, but if the game itself lies to you than that's pretty bad.

Yeah, I haven't seen an in-game menu either.

My mistake, I misinterpreted that pic that 1ombat posted. I thought it was the in game menu but it was actually just the promo animation from the website (the one that scrolls through the titles of the games).

Because I'm sitting here saying that whining and complaining about something so trivial is stupid?

Perhaps it's because of the way you're going on, and on about our complaining being pointless, and claiming we have no "false advertising" case. We are simply posting our collective dislike of being in a world filled with people, who for reasons beyond our understanding, cannot seem to get their facts organised in a proper manner.

So far, we have been shown screenshots, and video clips from UMK3/MKT, which we know by the characters, backgrounds, and what MK2KungBroken, or whomever said about screen measurements, that have been labeled as being from MK3. Furthermore, the MK Team themselves, have even called UMK3, in many Krypt items, MK3. Either we ARE getting UMK3/MKT, because to the Midway team sees them as the latest versions of MK3, or we ARE ONLY getting regular old MK3, and the MK Team/ Midway need to seriously reorganise their workplace. SOMEONE is responsible for using the "False" gameplay screens, untill this situation gets resolved, this SOMEONE is responsible for our current belief in being "mislead". Therefore, this SOMEONE can be sued for false advertising.

Posts on here should be limited to new concrete evidence of which version of MK3 will be released on MAT2 and/or constructive discussion.

All of our points are moot as we have had the same batch of piecemeal information/evidence for the past couple weeks. NOthing is conclusive, and no amount of mud slinging will change that. NO ONE, OUTSIDE OF MIDWAY'S DEVELOPEMENT TEAM, KNOWS WHICH VERSION, IF NOT BOTH, OF MK3 WILL BE FEATURED.
