When something better than UMK3 comes out, I'll let you all know, because it still hasn't happened yet.

Even still, Genesis has some exclusive infinites based on the basics of it's gameplay. SNES Kung Lao has an easier infinite, something the CPU could do if it ever used the spin. This is not the same thing as ducking LP infinites, or mid screen Sub-zero air freeze infinites. The ducking LP doesn't push back, and the freeze falls faster. I will take some time to study the Genesis version some more if and when I get a chance.

DED didnt say anything about graphics. DREEMER said genesis is better (for u/mk3) even if the graphics are bad. Which means the genesis had bad graphics, not snes. Genesis looked like it used 16 colors.

16 colors isn't too far off for the Genesis. 64 colors total on the screen. Probably only 16 colors per character, plus another 32 for everything else.

In the end both Genesis and SNES are terrible when it comes to MK3 and UMK3. At least Mk2 for SNES was fun to play and looked great. MK2 for Genesis looked heinous. MK1 for SNES had the bad laggy controls, but MK1 for genesis looked like it was rebuilt from the ground up to be extra crappy. Just look at Goro's lair. Totally remade from scratch to use like 5 colors and be terrible.

I have MKT on PS. It doesn't sound as excited as the versions all of you guys have on your n64 or whatever, but it's still fun. MK3 is my favorite 2D MK game, but Trilogy has a lot more characters and kombat zones.
Hey, I read that in some version of MKT, Motaro had fatalities. What were they?

sub-zero has the freeze inf in snes too. you got pushback even if you are half screen from the corner. sounds for snes (umk3) are even worst than genesis. few moves were not still fixed. yes, it has better graphics but thats it.

mk1 for snes has better graphics and sounds than genesis - true. but this game cannot even be played. there are no early jks, no early jps, no block cancel, no pushback, everything is so choppy and haotic. genesis may have worst graphics and sounds but the gameplay, as much broken as it is, is tons better than snes.

as for mkt, i dont know something that work for mkt pc that will not work for psx. what exactly is the difference? bigger air time? its the same too.

Something you could do in pc mkt that you cant do in psx: kobra glitch. I cant even get purple shang.

N64.
Motaro: head rip
Kahn: smashes you into the ground (w/ hammer), laughs, then hits you again and you explode.

Yeah, I got the two confused my fault lol.

Yeah, that's what I was saying.IMO, for SNES MK 1, MK 2 and MK 3 and UMK3 pretty much all the MK's for it looked a lot better then the Sega Version.

Gameplay wise, UMK3 weren't that great for either IMO compared to the arcade. But looked better at least then the Sega one.

MK3 was a lot of fun I enjoyed that one as well but wasn't as good as MK 2.MK3 for the SNES might not have been perfect but I played this game for many hours as well when I got it, I think I played this more then MK 2.Definitely my two favs, this and MK 2 for the SNES.

MK 2 IMO was the best home version on the SNES, I was addicted to this game for hours lol.

MK1, although gameplay wise wasn't there 100% along with the infamous blood code I still enjoyed the it because it was MK and I didn't want a Sega Genesis.

Yes, to the other dude Motaro had a fatality where he rips off your head and holds it in his same winning stance.(they got lazy with it)

MK3 for SNES was the first MK I played, and it was the only one I played until Deadly Alliance in 2002. I didn't realize how terrible it was until I finally played the arcade version.

Now I can't play it without getting annoyed. Especially with the sound. It sucks. I'm really happy with MKT for PSX though.

heeeeeeeeeeey i love MKT and i've basically done every secret and it's one of my favorite MK games of all time because it was the last 2D MK game (sniff...i love old school kombat)i i've always beat every single person i knew many times and of course i've lost many times as well.this was one of the best MK games cuz it had every character throughout the serires as well as levels and was very competitive with human players and i wish i had Ps2 online and MKT for an arcade game because i would have lots of fun competing with others.
now i've stated the point why people should favor this game.

After reading this thread I found and installed my old copy of MKT for PC that I had in the back of my closet. It's alot better than I remember it being. But I had to get a WinXP patch that I found to get it to run, and had to use the command prompt to finally get the patch to work.

For some reason I can't get it to play any music, even though I've checked and all of the music is present and acounted for and I can listen to it in winamp. And for some weird reason if I play with a usb controller the game doesn't have sound effects, but if I use the keyboard it does.

Does anyone know if anything can be done about this stuff?

Also it looks like the PC version has some network play options. I am going to check those out later. EDIT: Oh, and does anyone know of a way to increase the resolution? At default window size it is as small as a gameboy screen and going full screen just stretches it out. Pixels a plenty. confused

I'm not sure about the whole sound effect and music thing.

There is no way to make the resolution change. Its the same as any of the other 2D MK games, one resolution only. This one happens to run at the same resolution as MKT for PSX.

The netplay is IPX only. Thats designed for LAN play. However I have successfully used a program called GIT to play IPX only games over the internet. It should work fine with this game too.

GIT is free.

Oooh, and click the About button and check and see if the version says (Final) next to it. Psykosonik pointed out a Final version of MKT for PC that I never knew existed that apparently is identical to the Greatest Hits version of MKT for PSX!

Oooo. I wonder If the krazy kobra glitch still works on it. Probably not if it's really identical.

It wasn't the last 2D MK game. It was released in 1996; MKM:SZ was released in '97 as was Mortal Kombat 4 (GB), and Mortal Kombat Advance, also 2D, was released 2001. So...yeah.

Yeah, mine says it is the final version. I gave up and just made a playlist of the music and have it running in the background while I play. Which works for me. And I have gotten used to using the keyboard. Whic sucks though, because I tried playing with my grilfriend with me on keyboard and her on the controller, and just having the usb controller plugged in takes away all the sound effects.
I guess it is the best I am going to get out of this. Oh well.

I'm having trouble with doing finishers in MKT.

I can do Cage's fine, but I can't do Scorpion's, Rain's, Noob Saibot's, or Ermac's. Or anyone elses for that matter. It's just the MK1/MK2/UMK3 characters I have trouble with. The MK3 characters I'm fine with.

MK4 Arcade was 2D. The graphics were 3D polygon, and the rooms gave off the illusion that they rotated, but it was still a 2D game with side stepping. This is just another way to animate a "dodge" move that is in KoF games. The game had designated moves which moved the camera angles around giving off the illuision of 3D. You didn't have freedom of movement in more than 2 directions/dimensions though so you are still playing in the most literal sense, a 2D playing field.
