I like him but I think he's overrated. I mean sure I guess his concept was original enough for the MK series, and I can see why people love his spear. But he's just not as interesting to me as some other characters like Reptile, Quan Chi, and some others...Besides, it just seems so cliche to say "Scorpion's my favorite!" I wouldn't want him to leave the MK series be he's not my favorite character.

He is one of the best characters in the whole game.
I hope they never take him out.

I do agree that saying Scorpion is you fav makes you sound like you jumped on the band wagon, but he is an unstoppable force in this game if used right. As far as being over rated, i disagree. YOu can tell midway took their time tayloring scorpion to be one of, if not the best character of MKDA.

I think he is the best character in each and every MK game. But that's just me. I just like him alot.. Cool moves, really fast, the spear, can summon hell fire. Etc...

I'm not saying he's overrated as far as moves and gameplay, cuz I know he's technically the strongest character in MKDA, but storywise and conceptually, he's good, but I don't know if he deserves to be as popular as he is.

He is the most popular. He can beat most MK characters but not all. He's ok but he's not as interesting to me as Subzero and Shao Kahn

He is a very powerful character, but not my favorite, and yes, I do believe that just too many people see him as their "favorite". I honestly don't see what all the fuss is about. There are so many other good characters out there...

Scorpion has been one of the most charismatic fighters in MK from the begining. There's nothing band wagon about thinking Scorpion's cool...because he is. The spear alone is one of the most awesome and original moves in the entire series.

Scorpion was a weak character in the previous MKs, he lacked of moves, and his kicks were short, BUT he defenatly is a TOP TIER in MKDA.

He is not my fave character, and like someone said, I dont find him interesting anymore, but still he is a MUST, he must come back. He has a cool original concept, story (wich is getting boring) and moves.

I think he kicks ass because his concept is radically different from the others and much cooler. I mean look at everyone else. They're so basic. The bad guys just want to take over the world, the good guys want to save it like the good little boys and girl scouts they are, Scorpion couldn't give a rat's ass what happens to the earth! He was killed along with his family and is severly pissed. Not to mention he's been toyed with so damn much, even killing a somewhat innocent man(the original Sub Zero) but he has enough heart to look after the guy's little brother. Now he is finally so close to accomplishing his goal. He knows who the true killer is, and he is only getting more powerful. As soon as he get's his hands on Quan Chi, it's over. Scorpion is the ultimate underdog. Started off as a pawn but imo he WILL be the next Mortal Kombat champion, and noone saw it coming.

Scorpion is just the man.

Scorpion is the coolest because of his story. A lone warrior seeking vengeance for the murder of his family. Its because of this that he has gained so many fans. Everyone would like too see what he would do if he got his hands on Quan chi.

Same with sub freeze the opponent get a free hit. But no-one points his failures out.

Subzero on the other hand, went through a large series of stages and eventually became more developed over time. He started out as a naive tool, then to self-righteous renegade, then over time he sought redemption and now he's the noble and moralistic founder of the new Lin Kuei. It's the same old thing with Scorpion. He does whatever he wants, and he's out get somebody. He's the same pissed off specter in MK:DA as he was in the first installment. The creators are always there to remind us how much of a wildcard he's been, and sadly that is probably all he'll ever be.

I agree with you totally!! hopefully in MK6 they switch him up a bit. I've been playing MK:DA since it came out but i've only recently began to understand how unstopable and unpredictable Scorp can be. He's well rounded, quick, and strong.

Overrated as a character but not as a fighter in the game. In the games he's a monster but I think his storyline is just so plain and boring.

ok people its like this... scorpion is the man... not to jump on the bandwagon because ive been die hard scorpion since the begining... if the big guy (ed boon) agrees that he's the fav... personally, while using scorpion, my combos are as fluid as can be... i dont have to think while using him... i make his combos as simple or as complex as i feel is needed.. other characters need practice to get the feel... scorpion...is a natural.....

Well, in the prvious Mortal Kombats before MK:DA, I never really liked him...I thought he didn't have much of a storyline, Sub-Zero had a much better storyline. Also, in MK2, MK3, UMK, MKT, and MK4 and MKG, Scorpion's costumes were pretty much the same as every other ninja in those games. I really didn't like his moves in the past Mortal Kombats either.

But, in MK: Deadly Alliance, my thoughts about Scorpion were changed. I really liked him in MK:DA. I thought he had a much better storyline then in the previous MKs. Also, I liked how his costume in MK:DA was very different then Sub-Zero's MK:DA costume. I think Scorpions alternate costume in MK:DA was very cool, and differnt. I also think that his moves are a lot better now, and now I enjoy playing as him more then others.

I conclusion, Scorpion is now one of my favorite characters in MK:DA, but not my very favorite.

P.S. Some of the things I have said may have already been posted, but I don't really feel like reading the whole thread, so please don't think I copied off some of you...

I think the problem with Scorpion storyline-wise is that he's driven solely by his desire for vengeance, and to a large extent that's both his second-greatest appealing factor (right behind his spear) and his biggest weakness. The thinking of most of his fans is that his focus, determination, and unstoppable aura make him hardcore. However, this also drastically limits the potential of his story. I think the best thing they could possibly do with his character is to have Quan Chi resurrect and enslave his murdered family. This will keep his vengeful fury raging at a higher level than ever, and at the same time reveal a bit of the humanity he had in life by showing the love he has for his family.

Scorpion's alright, I think he's better than Rain, Smoke, Noob, and Ermac, but the human Reptile was better than him and even Sub-Zero was a little better. I just think he's overrated, he's an OK fighter,but mainly his story is getting so stale.

I've been a hardcore Scorpion fan, and Sub-Zero fan from the beginning. I'd agree that Scorp is one of the best fighters in MK: DA, but, at least in the PAL version, not the best. Unless someone can prove otherwise, I'm almost 100% convinced that Pi Gua 4 is NOT back-dash cancellable in the PAL version. As a result, it's not safe on block meaning he can really be punished by characters like Kung Lao who step forward a long way when punching. I'm almost 100% convinced of this...but no PAL players can confirm nor deny this yet. Since I've tried and can't back-dash cancel Pi Gua 4, I'm assuming you can't in the PAL until proven otherwise.
