Mortal Kombat 2, no question.

Hands-down MK II (arcade version)...Great music, great cast of kombatants, good sized ladder to take down, and it's not a game you can just whiz through, it was dark, creepy, and the bosses were excellent and difficult. The only thing I could have done without were Babalities and Friendships...Other than that I have nothing bad to say about MK 2.

Mk II

MKII with KITANA is just better than the MK1 and also than MK3 because why not 4...5...6...7...8...9...10!

Me too. It had the most decent roster, the best thematics, the classic fighters were at their peak, and the new ones were a miracle. Sure, it had no Scorpion and Sub Zero wasn't masked, but it gave the game all the more originality.

i dunno why, MK2 is amazing and all. But i felt a whole new energy when MK3 came out. MKD was great for fans aswell.

To me MK3 moved the MK series in the right direction. The run button was a great feature, which helped against players from MK1 and MK2 that turtled behind their special moves. The combos gave the characters some personality. Also the pace of MK3 is to me far better than MK2.

The times were changing and MK3(series ) reflected that. The storyline, characters, music, and gameplay are great.

MK2 is great and all, but way way overrated, to me at least.

Mk trillogy is the best

For me it's....

1. MK- That is what started it all.
2. MK3- Backgrounds are better, and it builds on the concept of the stage fatalities. Plus I want to think this is the game that made Shao Kahn an actual boss. It seems like he is harder in MK3.
3. MK2- Make no mistake, Shao Kahn made his apperance known. This is what started his saga. And not to mention Dan Forden's "Toasty". Anyone feel like he should do the Quiznos commercials? Anyway, this was also a great game, because it is the first game that gives the characters 2 fatalities, babalities, and friendships.

Mortal Kombat hands down. It is the only game in the series, I know of, tough enough to have a fatality breaker.

For me it would be Trilogy

MKII- Much like TM2, this is one of the few times where the second game was better than the first one...and the third one kind of sucked.

UMK3 is the best MK game ever tho.

too many uncounterable situations imo. I thought that MK II was the best and most classic. Did not like the characters they removed in MK III and they went overboard with the ninja-ness. I'm still not a huge fan of rain or ermac.

I'm gonna say MK1.only because MK3 took out too many good characters.And i haven't played MK2 in awhile,and all i have of it is the horrible port of MK2 on MK Shaolin Monks.

Does it matter?Once HD comes out Orango Kango's gone be wiping your face flesh on the ground,sending you to Street Fightah!!!!

Its hard really to say which one of the first three was the best, they all have their ups and downs.
Id have to go with ascending order
MK - Well for ones its the original, has most of the best fighters ( Liu Kang, Raiden, Scorpion, Sub-Zero). Also Has test of might which was fun when playing with mates. But also this game has few moves, one fatality and one arena fatality.

MKII - Has a great selection of new fighters, Reptile, Kung Lao, Shang Tsung, Jax, Mileena, Kitana, Baraka and has got rid of kano lol Nice new selection of moves and more fatalities.

MKIII - Well as for players, they got rid of scorpion... and brought Kano back.. ermm few good new players her, Sub-Zero's brother an couple of Robot Ninjas. Only been playing MKI+II recently but when I played them back in the day I played alot of MKIII, as i guess you mostly do when new games you like come out. Added in combos moves which was good
