I think UMK3 is the best MK game because it is best for competitive play. But, if that doesn't matter to you, I can see why you would say MKII.

I don't see why people like MK2 so much. The costumes were bad with a few exceptions (Baraka,Jax,Reptile/Scorpion/Subzero) and the gameplay felt very lacking compared to UMK3.

MK3/Trilogy

I remember I used to play endless hours of MK3 with a mate on SNES. Then I got a playstation and found out there was this thing called MK Trilogy, I completely freaked out.

MKII was good, but I loved the backgrounds, story and who could forget the awesome soundtrack (Temple especially) to MK3

MK3 not having Scorpion was a big no no for me, but I mainly just played MK Trilogy, so it didnt matter.

Also, I loved the speed of Trilogy compared to MK3 or any of the other MK's. I became so used to how fast it was that I found it frustrating to play the other MK's.

I think MK2 is a better game than MK1. But I grew up with MK1 and never even really played MK2 til I got it on PS3, so MK1 is second for me.

MKII imo was the best game. Compared to the others I played that one the most. Loved the music, roster, move set, the lot. MK1 and 3 are just as good in their own way, it's just MKII had something more about it lol.

MK II had the best roster, atmosphere, and it expanded a lot from the first game, so I'd say MK II. I'd have to go with MK after that because it's simply a classic. I loved the Chinese mythology feel to it and the originality of the game. I do like MK3 and I think it has the best gameplay of the the first three games, but I don't like the whole Earthrealm invasion and cartoony finishers.

I thought Trilogy was best, but MK II will always be the huge turning point for the series. It was the game that solidified that MK was badass, and everyone had to agree.

MK2 for me...the first game was awesome and mk2 really expanded on that same vibe and everything...I can't even begin to describe my disappointment with 3..a little bit of my soul died that die...and i finally understood the world was not fair. I left the arcade, drank a pot of black coffee, started smoking lucky strikes and got a job at a factory. My childhood was over.

UMK3 wasn't quite so bad tho haha

still a hard to answer question, but for me MK2.

I love the UMK3 gameplay, but looking at it overall (story, gameplay, looks, sound, chracters, etc) I would say MK2. And looking at the past...I've played MK2 til death (arcade and console). MK1 is still a classic tough and I really love how the game looks, still the most realistic looking MK imo. And the classic 80's kungfu/ninja vibe was sick.

umk3 is awesome!it's selection of characters is the best.
subzero and scorpion can kick butt!death has never been sweeter until umk3!

My fave is mk4 or mkt,but nothing is better than getting back to the original mk1

Mortal Kombat II hands down!! Plus Shang Tsung with the wave cap is just brilliant!! (^_^)

I would say Trilogy for the PS. It had more characters than the 64 version plus the bosses were a nice bonus. I also liked how they altered The Graveyard's music for Trilogy. My favorite stage EVER

I'm partial to MK1, I put in a lot of hours on the Genesis with that game.

mortal kombat 3

I've always liked MK1. It is the one that felt more like one of those old Kung Fu Movies I watched growing (still do). Heck, the whole idea of the first game reminds me of Enter the Dragon. I freally like 2, but for me the first one is a lot more fun. I never really liked 3 that much. The fatalities were sort of lame and, honestly I was never really good at it ;)
