interesting, but these fluctuations can't stay a sufficiently long time on a far number from the initial value to really influence your game, and that's why I say it's bounded to that initial ping value. Delay increase and decrease while playing of course, but you can't get an unplayable game if your kaillera sreen indicates you have a good ping.

Yes, you can. Its actually pretty common, and one of the reasons I hate netplay.
You can do a simple test yourself. Just start a game, get the IP for the server, open a command prompt and type:
ping insert.ip.number.here -t
and it repeatedly ping the server. Don't do this a lot since it might be abusive to the server. The monitoring program I used to have did it better, and what it did wasn't visible to the server, this is. When you are satisfied with how crazy the fluctuations are, just press ctrl+c to end it.
