A day after I bought Sega CD/Cartdridge my uncle came over and dropped a few games off.I played MK1 first because of the cool Dragon Logo. After playing for a few weeks I found out some cheats like the Hidden Cheat Menu. That made me want to play it alot more.I experimented with the blood code alot with some charcters:
Scorpion's Spear:At first I tried it with the blood on.Then I restarted my System too see if it would work with the blood off.I was pretty pissed that day because my Dad knew the codes and I had to wait untill he got off of work to unlock it again.
Sub-Zero's 2 Fatalities:I already knew about the Uppercut fatality.I was playing with the blood on one day and I decided to do his fatality. At first I thought it was just going to be a Uppercut but it turned out to be a Spine Rip.I was surprised when I seen that.
Playing MK1 was a blast.I had alot of good times with it.Little did I know MK2 would be alot better.

Unfortunately my first MK experience was on the Pirate NES/Famicom system, with the characters from MK2... Of course there was no storyline in it, and the characters had lame colours, I didn't even know that Jax was black, lol... Now that I think about it, I'm surprised that it was enjoyable... I saw the movie not long after and that's when I got into it... But the most memorable first experience was when I picked up a Genesis, and MK3, and it looked SO-O-O real! lol So I consider that my real first MK experience. I loved it, I was like "Wow, blood! That's realistic!" Stuff like that. I loved it!

My first experience was MK1 for Genesis so I'm amazed I ever got into it again. I played it when MK1 was new for Genesis, dropped it and didn't pick it up again until after MK2 had been out for SNES for a while.

MK1 on Genesis at this guy Mike's house, truly heinous, I almost imploded. I hated the game for some time after that mostly because there were practically no colors, and the sounds and music made my ears bleed. I had only heard about the game before playing it on Genesis, heard all about Raiden, Goro, and Scorpion, and "the guy at the end who changes into everyone, it's cheap, he's called Shang Tuhsung." Everyone was so into the characters and their personalities and stuff, and of course the Fatalities, honestly it seemed like a pretty dull game to me, until I played it in the arcade at the laundry mat, and then on SNES. I was almost hooked, it took the Pit II Fatality to seal the deal for me.

mk1 in the arcade. i didn't know anything about mk or if it was even big. the only thing i knew about it was egm posting a small move list in one of their sections. the first time i put in my quarters i got ripped off 50 cents. bastards. after i finally got it going, i got beat bad by the computer. i didn't think anything of the game. then before it got released on home systems, the hype was everywhere. i bought into the hype and bought it for genesis first day it came out. i got hooked after that. then i started going to the arcade more often to play against people and to the point i was unstoppable in my home town. i'll always remember being ripped off first. i want my 50 cents back!

I have to add my little story. Me and a friend were on a school field trip, and our school took us to Granada studios, in good ol England (which is where we were, lol.) So after we went on an 'Aliens' simulator (u know the ones that look like a movie theater and the seats move in correspondence with what's on the screen) and we were allowed a bit of time in the arcade afterwards. We noticed MK, and neither if us had seen it before, so we played it. I was hooked from that day on, way back in 1993. And I was only 7 or 8 at the time, so to see all that violence was great! As I said since then I've been an MK fanatic, but for some reason after MK4 I lost contact, and didn't but MKDA until a good long while after it was released!
(I guess MK4 lost my faith in the series, as I was pumped for it's release and still have all these game mags giving info before it's release - then it let me down
) But since I picked DA up, I was hooked again and then found MKO and now my MK enthusiasm is at an all time high. I mean, MKD AND MAT2 are coming!!!
Well, I'm pretty sure that seeing MK around in arcades and playing them with no memory now of it, I'll go with when I first saw MK: The Movie years ago(theater or tape, I forget), I really liked it. Then came MK: Defenders of the Realm, and I was more hooked. My first memory of playing MK was in the arcades in 2000 when I moved, I played MK4, and I liked it. I wasn't really into it until I played MKDA with my cousin soon after it came out.
But, overall, my first MK experience was with MK: The Movie.

My first time encountering Mortal Kombat was at my friends house. He only visited on the weekends because of his parents were divorced. But he had a Sega Genisis and one of the games I most remembered was Mortal Kombat 1. I basically sucked for the first 15 minutes playing as Scorpion because my friend would not tell me how to perform the moves. But then when I found out. It was nothing but throwing spears and uppercuts. He hated me doing that because he kept getting his ass kicked. Then about 4 months later Mortal Kombat 2 came out and this time I bought it along with the Genisis. From then on I have been playing Mortal Kombat, and my favorite character is Scoprion because I started playing as him and never stopped.

I was in the second or third grade, I forget which. I was at the local arcade where I usually played my weekly game or two of Street Fighter II and get my ass handed to me by the group of teenagers crowded around the machine. One time I went and the Street Fighter II machine was completely empty. No one was hanging around it. The group of teenagers crowded around this new fighting game. As I went over to investigate I got there just in time to see Kano uppercut Sonya off of The Pit. Immedietly my 8 year old brain went "This is the coolest game... EVAR!"
Soon after the home versions were released and I had a buddy named Kawika that would spend the night almost every weekend and bring the holy MK cartridge with him for the Genesis. Oh man, the memories... MKII was still in the arcade at this point, so we'd pretend we were playing MKII on the Genesis. Kawika would say stuff like "Ok, pretend my Sub-Zero is Shang Too-shung. Whenever I throw an iceball it means I'm morphing into reptile, so adjust the "tint" on the TV settings to make the blue turn into green."
Oh man... Good times, good times.

I started playing MK when MK2 was out for a while. I rented the game for SNES every weekend and when MK3 came out, i brought it and I was more hooked than ever. I ended up buying UMK3, MK2, the MK1 in order, so i got caught up with the series and I've been adicted ever since. I think the first character I ever played with was Jax on MK2 because I remembered how I thought it was cool how his head went all around when "Finish Him" popped up when I got my ass kicked by Reptile, lol.

And you said your first time playing MK was when you were 7 or 8? Well, get this. When I was like 2 or 3, my brother had the original MK for SNES. We played it together, and about the blood and violence thing u said was great, well, I thought it was just normal like any old thing. But then my dad got rid of the game cuase he thought it was too violent. We also had Doom, Doom 2, Hexen, and Heretic. He took those away too lol.
