What are your picks for the most boring fighters in MKs 1-Gold? Are there any you hated fighting with for any reason? Here are mine.
MK1)Kano=Some of his special moves were difficult to pull off, and his Fatality was cool, but he seemed dull.
MKII)JAX=It's not that he was boring to play as, I just didn't like all the cheasy, "cheap" moves.
MK3/UMK3/MKT)Stryker=He was in them all, and I never did like him. His combos were weak, and the only interesting thing was in UMK3&Trilogy, and that was his mini gun.
MK4/MK Gold)Fujin=He had no projectiles unless he pulled his weapon, and his finishers were weak.
Those are my picks, what are yours?

MK1: Sonya-Nothing really against her, i just never picked her
MK2: Shang Tsung-Was never impressed with morphing
MK3/Trilogy: Rain-I know a lot of people like him, but I think he has the dumbest moves.
MK4: Shinnok-Again, the morphing thing.
MKDA: Drahmin-Maybe its the annoying buzzing flies...

MK1- Sonya. Nothing stood out. Nothing thrilled me.
MK2- No one, to be honest.
MK3- Mileena. Don't know why, cause I really liked Mileena in MK2, but for some reason my interest in playing as her nose-dived in this one.
And Jax. Again, nose-dive.
MK4- Jax. Sinking even further.
MK:DA- Li Mei. No interest in her. Didn't think she was worth my time.

MK1 - Kano. Didn't like his look and special moves.
MK2 - Reptile. Crap special moves.
MK3/UMK3/MKT - Stryker, for his look and story, and Nightwolf, for his story, special moves and combos.
MK4/G - Shinnok, for don't having any own special and for being a Shang Tsung's bad copy. Jarek, for his story and for being a Kano's bad copy. Jax, for his terrible look.
MK:DA - Nitara, because I never really liked her look and special moves. Reptile again, because they transformed the great MK4 Reptile in this... thing.

MK1 ~ Johnny Cage, I just never (ever in any MK) used him.
MK2 ~ Jax, didnt like his look or moves in MK2 (he did improve alot for MK3/MKT though)
MK3 ~ Nightwolf, Stryker and Sonya, all boring in MK3 imo, (stryker is my fav of the 3 actualy
)
UMK3/MKT ~ (On the PS) Classic Sub Zero, not that I dont use him, but why did they take away his clone, near/far/normal ice shower? Why did the PS version of MKT have many leass moves than the N64?
MK4/Gold ~ Jarek, big time Kano clone, and just a boring character.

I can't believe that people said Nightwolf and Stryker had weak combos and bad moves. That is so sad. Stryker did indeed have great combos and good moves in general, plus he had those crazy hit boxes that made him harder to handle sometimes. Nightwolf is fast as hell and is a great rushdown character, I say top tier. Both are powerful.
At the same time, as far as most boring, I'd pick Stryker and Nightwolf for their looks. I always thought they looked stupid. However, they are still 2 of my fav chars just because they are so good.
EDIT: And I just noticed someone was complaining about Ermac's moves too, and he is practically death incarnate in UMK3 thanks to his teleport, Slam and popup combo. That is crazy.

I agree 100%. Nightwolf and Stryker are two of my favorites, other than Kung Lao and Kabal.

Yah you are correct about both of them. I never really was a Stryker fan...I think it was mostly cause he looked stupid haha. Nightwolf was definitely top tier. He had a great bunch of moves and nice combos to boot.

The PSX version had all the characters. N64 took out unmasked sub (along with some classic characters) because they couldnt fit them so they gave Masked Sub all of Unmasked Sub's moves because they already had the frames (and the N64 version sucked)

Stryker: Truly devastating in the right hands, he is a fortress and he has 3 infinites, with fun juggling possibilities.
Nightwolf: Can win a match in 5 seconds. Has a corner infinite on a handful of characters, a proposed axe uppercut infinite that no one has proven, nor have I proven to myself that it is possible because even in the lesser gravity on the buggy MKT version it's still not possible to get a total inf out of it. If anyone can get it, please explain how and/or show me cause I want to get it. He is also quick, and his shoulder tackle is hardcore.
Ermac: Is Death as DreemerNJ said. He has over 20 different variations of 100% combos, ones that work on everyone, crazy juggling fun, up to 75% mid screen. He's possibly the MOST fun/least boring character in MK history.

Breaking it down:
Liu Kang: After MK2, his story and moves list hasn't really changed at all. It's like they killed off his potential as an interesting character before it even started.
Stryker: Pretty good character, gameplay-wise, but his story was dull and uninspiring. The whole 'fish out of water' element wasn't very good, and his ending sucked for someone who just got plopped in the middle of an inter-dimensional war.
Shinnok: The complete opposite to Stryker. His history and backround was surprisingly fleshed out for a boss character, but his moves were obviously lacking. He's basically a very easy Shang Tsung clone, minus the morphing animations and original, non-mimicking moves.
Kai: He is Kung Fu: The Legend Grows Stale. His story was asinine and boring, and his moves were far less than stellar. He comes off as a whiny coward in his ending, not at all like the Shaolin Monk he's supposed to be.
Reiko: What was Midway thinking? We didn't need a Noob Saibot clone, and his ending sparked controversy over whether or not he's Shao Khan in disguise. Ludicrous.
Tanya: Her story was interesting, but she seemed oddly like a Kitana/Mileena/Jade clone. Especially with her Kiss fatality and cheap, yet uninspired moves. Ugh.
Rain: Were we really that desperate for ninja filler during the MK3/UMK3/MKT years? A few of his moves were interesting, but his fatalities were stupid, and his storyline and ending was the classic predictable plot twist we all loathe in games.
Hsu Hao: Wooden as a Redwood forest. He couldn't have less personality in him if Nitara drained him dry. I sometimes wonder if his heart implant *wasn't* the only thing replaced in him. Does he do anything else than be Mavado's personal lapdog? And speaking of which...
Mavado: Excellent story, terrible fighting character. This is Mortal Kombat, not Keep-Away. Using hooks to pull yourself into harms way instead of snagging the opponent and dragging him in for the kill is beyond comprehension.
Shang Tsung: Fatalities were cool, but his continuous subservant attitude made his story rather weak. Even during MK: DA, he seemed a little less 'bad-ass villian' and a little more 'Fu Manchu butler'. And, his morphs really put a damper on creating anything original for him moves-wise.
Human Smoke: What's this? Another Scorpion clone? But wait! This one has no story of his own! Not like Scorpion had much of a story to him in the first place, but still...
Robo-Smoke: He had potential, I'll give him that much. But when your future storyline is given to another character and you're made up to be the love child of two other characters (Sektor and MK1 Reptile, in this case), wouldn't you think you suck, too?
Sheeva: A female Goro? WTF? And she's not nearly as fun to play as as the original bad-ass Shokan was. Let's just thank god that her arms are the ONLY thing she has four of...
Li Mei: Again, another seemingly out-of-place character. Doesn't anyone else think it's odd that her people would be enslaved in order to build the Deadly Alliance's fortress while there's a war going on? Don't you think that Shang Tsung and Quan Chi would have a *little* more on their minds than gatering slaves to build their crib? And her moves were strangely reminiscent of Tanya's. Nice rack, though.
Mokap: MOST. WORTHLESS. CHARACTER. EVER!!! He has no purpose to the Deadly Alliance storyline, and all his moves are stolen from other people. He doesn't even have his own fatality! How lame.
Cyrax: Nice story and moves list during MK3-MKG, but, like most other people, I think he sank to an even deeper low during Deadly Alliance. Now that he has his soul back, he's gone from ruthless robotic assassin to Astro Boy-like errand boy and OIA bootlick. At least Sektor actually kicked some ass throughout the years...
Scorpion: He was all about revenge. A dead warrior, ever to be respawned until he destroys the one who slaughtered his family and clan. Problem is, that's been his modus opperandii for EVERY MK GAME TO DATE!!! Even his moves list are starting to stagnate because of it.
Sub-Zero: Sure, his story's awesome as of late, but there's only so much you can do moves-wise for a character with control over sub-freezing teperatures.
Jarek: A waste of a Kano clone, and that's saying much.
Johnny Cage: Another 'stranger in a strange land' character. He comes off as extremely cocky for someone who entered a tournament for an ego boost, not knowing it was a mystical fight to the death for the fate of his home planet. His moves were likewise flashy, but ultimately just the same ol', same ol'.
Liu Kang: After MK2, his story and moves list hasn't really changed at all. It's like they killed off his potential as an interesting character before it even started.

I believe they left out Mk2 Jax, Mk1 Raiden, Mk1 Kano, and MK2 Kung Lao. In PSX if you highlighted Mk3 Jax, Mk3 Kano, Mk3 Kung Lao or MK2 Raiden and pressed select it would change them into their older forms.

He was created to take Noob Saibot's place in MK4, and had a very similar storyline to that of the ebony ninja (obedient general in Shinnok's army and member of the Brothers of the Shadow). He may not be a *true* clone, but he *was* a replacement character, which is just as bad.
And are you forgetting Human Smoke? He hadn't changed a bit since his introduction as a secret character in MK2. Even when they made him playable in UMK3/MKT, he was still just a grey-tone Scorpion clone with vapors coming off of him. Even his fatalities were rip-offs of other character's fatalities/moves (Uppercut Decap - Cage, Teleport Decap - Scorpion, Smoke Distortion - MK2 Shang Tsung). He was the original clone character, and don't you forget it! ;P

Its a shame he is considered the clone in UMK3/MKT since he is the better character. I always think of Scorpion as a Smoke ripoff in those games.

Well, since Scorpion came first, Smoke is technically the clone. And, really, is he *that* much better than Scorpion? They play virtually identical! At least Scorpion had some ingenious fatalities, like his Toasty and Gang-Up fatalities. All smoke had was two decaps (one ripped off from Johnny Cage, the other a fatal rip-off of his and Scorpion's teleport punch), and a 'possess the opponent and make them blow up' fatality *very* reminiscent of MK2 Shang Tsung's Mist fatality.
And, at least Scorpion had a halfway-decent storyline. Human Smoke just had crap for a backround (a living figment of Robo-Smoke's former human body? Gimme a break).
And if you were talking about Robo-Smoke... Like I said, his story started out fairly good, but his moves were all rip-offs of those from other charracters.
i dont consider him a clone.. he has totally different combos..they really dont play the same. kano and jerek are identical.. fatalties and all!!.. even his story...the bitch sonya and jax were after him..just like they were after kano..

Did know that - I have PS MKT
Another thing I don't know, where was MK1 Liu Kang, Sonya, Johnny Cage, Reptile, Shang Tsung, Subby, Scorp? What about MK2 Mileena, Kitana etc. Were they being lazy, or was it that legal stuff?
