I gotta add my part as well I guess...

I think you people have got it all wrong anyhow. Who's ever said that Sub Zero has ever been young anyhow? Sure he was the younger brother but that's all that has been said about him on an age sort of topic.

In the 4 games this subzero has been involved in previous to MKD (ie:- MK2, MK3, MK4 & MKDA) he has had a mask in 2 of those games (MK2 & MK4) so we have not seen how he has aged at all!!

In MK3 he looked in his 30's as well. In MKDA he looks later 30's / early 40's! Now in one costume he has a helmet, and the other he does not look heaps old either!!

I really think you are all looking too much into it and just want to complain because of change. Change is part of life my friends. New technology, and new graphics will cause that in a virtual gaming world as well... MK is included!

What is this? The 30th thread about Subby's look? Anyway, I'll just say what I've said about the rest:
Sub-Zero is my favorite character, and I'm disappointed. I still think he looks frickin' sweet, cooler than any other character thus far, but... it's just not the "traditional" Sub-Zero I've grown up with. I had this same problem when unmasked Sub-Zero appeared in MKIII. I had the problem with MK:DA until his alternate, masked appearance came out. Now... I don't know. He just doesn't look like a ninja anymore, which is a shame. He's now a shogun, or samurai, or whatever, and while that's still cool, his sleak, simple, classic Lin Kuei uniform is still my favorite and I'll always miss that. And, I've said my piece on his aging enough. I don't like it. I don't want to be playing as old men in my video games. Fatality.
I wish you guys would lighten up sometimes.. but oh well..

Maybe we can look forward to 3 costumes per character.. and they'll incorporate a traditional looking Sub-Zero. I wouldn't show grief to characters just yet until we see the final product.

But theres no way to stop it..

I like it. It's a real departure from the Lin Kuei style.

Btw, he does look more Shogun than Chinese. However, seeing as both of his styles hail from Japan, I don't see anything wrong with that AT ALL.

what are you talking about?

confused
Sub has always had a Japanese ninja look.
I was watching an old kung fu movie that had Japanese ninjas. Their costumes looked almost the same as the ones in MK. With the vest and no sleeves.
I don't remember what movie it was though, it was a while back.

It doesn't really make sense that a Chinese warrior would be wearing Japanese clothing, but it doesn't bother me that much either.
Chinese armor is pretty cool too though, I would like them to go with that some time.

Sub-Zero looks awsome!

Sub-Zero is also one of my favorite characters. Sub-Zero's new look is very unique and shows that he has grown stronger.

I think Sub-Zero's new look shows him in a new state. In each Mortal Kombat Sub-Zero has grown stronger. Sub-Zero learned about his brother's past, Sub-Zero learned how unhonorable his clan was, Sub-Zero learned about the different realms, and he also learned that his Kori powers have a great potential. I think Sub-Zero is just as strong in the mind as he is with his fists.

Sub-Zero is now a responsible, wise, and powerful protector of the Earth. Sub-Zero could fill Liu Kang's spot as the most strongest fighter on Earth. Sub-Zero now has a whole armada of people who is behind him, Sub-Zero knows what it is like to be a loner and he also knows how to be a leader. In my opinion I think that Sub-Zero just blows Scorpion away in terms of strength.

The only problems I have with this character is the fact that his fighting styles have not changed and the fact that he had Frost as his apprentice. I thought Frost was to similar to him and it lacks originality for his character.

Other than that, I can't wait to play as him and he might become my most favorite character besides Raiden.

Well...that's not exactly true.

Shotokan, a style of Japanese Karate, is a combination of Shorin-Ryu and Shorei-Ryu, two Okinawan Karate styles.

Dragon is a Chinese martial art and there are many different Dragon styles. There are Dragon attributes in Xing Yi Quan (Hsing I Chuan) and Ba Gua Zhang (Pa Kua Chang). There is a Shaolin Dragon style and a bunch of other Dragon styles that came before Shaolin Dragon Fist and Dragon stuff in Xing Yi Quan and Dragon Ba Gua Zhang.

Anyway, I think Sub's Shredder-like costume kind of looks Japanese with the helmet and Chinese with the Dragon designs and such. His alternate costume looks more chinese like.

no,Sub Zero is not screwed up,i see that people never get satisfied, they always have something to complain,in MK:DA the were complaining about the "one fatality per character" and the lack of stage fatalities, now they have stage fatalities and multiple fatalities per character in MK:D,but they keep complaining about the new look of Sub Zero,c'mon people, are you programmers or something like that????....i don't think so....

Well. personally i like the design of SUB ZERO.
i agree, sub zero looks way to old. who wants to fight with grand pa? thats right. screw ghosts from hell, or lighting gods, who's ganna fight with them when there's old guys in spandex ready for action. he's got cool moves, cool story, cool new costume, but lets just hope he watches those high kicks...those hip bones would snap like twigs.

Sub-Zero was only maybe 28 when he first appeared in MK2 (being the 32 year old Sub-Zero's younger brother). Asuming that MK Time passes in real time, that would put Sub-Zero's age in his late 30's. So he's an ugly old man now. I think it makes him look tougher. He was too pretty boyish before.

Why are so many people holding Ed Boon responsable for so many things that happen in the MK world? I'm saying in general.. not THIS thread in specific.

I still can't get over Ed Boon being a huge fan of Scorpion. Especially if Scorp didn't even show up for MK3. I'm not saying Ed is a liar.. It's just kinda ironic yo.

But yeah... I think that Subbies new look might be cool for another character.. like maybe his apprentice or something. He looks like a completely different person now... like.. some drunk eskimo being a ninja for halloween or something... After MK:DA it feels like Sub is permanently slow and old. He may be super-human but he makes up for his strength with uber-slowness.

And he has that Shredder helmet... ugh. UGH! I don't hate TMNT or nothing.. but.. eh... MK isn't really the game where the characters could be almost DIRECTLY compared to a guy from a series with a children-oriented audience. I can't stand the new look at all.

Everyone has to agree subzero is much looking better than he did in MK:DA.
No one else shows the Evolution of Kombat better than Subby.
Both of his looks are badass

you're right his alternate looks more Chinese than his shredder costume. I think his alternate looks ALOT like Iron Monkey's (for anyone who's seen the movie you know), just a variation of colors and a little bit different design. Very kool though, I love the alternate.

Edit: look at the similarities

No he hasn't.

At first I was against the new look but when it was explained that it was to make him Chinese rather than Japanese, it works. Sub Zero is the most rounded and developed character in the whole game. There is nothing wrong with his story. His probably the only character who's story doesn't need any changes.

Scorpion on the other hand.

Sub-Zero lame?!
Damn, he ́s cooler then ever, of the classic characters he ́s the one who turned out cooler, he looks like a Shogun with a chinese style, the fact that his pupils are lacking makes him even cooler, every game evolves, you people don ́t seem to realize that and he definatly evolved for the better.
And this dude is not even my favorite character.
