Im not a fan of Baraka, but he is definitely not as un-popular or as hated as you suggest with that “The Wesley” link.
And Baraka is iconic in the way that he is very well recognized among the general public, but he isnt as iconic as other characters who have actually done more crucial and important things in the story.
I do agree with you that he is in the middle, but your last comment with the link puts him in a very different position, one which is hardly true. I have heard of a few people hating the character, but not as much as to think the creators love him enough to keep bringing him back despite a "huge gerenal hate". Thats not true.
He isnt hated, he isnt super loved. He is just in the middle.
And remember, he is well known, and he was very well received by fans when he was confirmed for MKD, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he makes the cut, though I prefer other characters to be in his place...other more iconic crucial characters.

I hope he's not in either. I'm certainly not a fan. I never said Baraka was anywhere near "iconic" status. However, while he's definitely not the MOST popular MK character, he certainly isn't unpopular. If you look at my post, I AM kind of skeptical about the whole "Baraka in MK vs. DC" thing. I was merely pointing out that what this guy suggests is not completely ridiculous. It could be a clue about Baraka. Though I am hoping it's not.

I beg to differ. Now, I may be wrong about this, but I have never heard any MK fan get excited about Baraka appearing. He seems to be one of those characters that everyone overlooks and doesn't seem to care if he's in the game. I think that Ed Boon and co. really like him, whenever he appears in a game they always make a big deal about it and call him a popular character. I have never recognized him as a popular character, he's kinda right in the middle of the spectrum of popular-unpopular and like-hated as far as MK characters go - and he's certainly not that iconic. I really hope he's not in the game.

I kind of agree with that.
He's no Scorpion, that's for sure. But he's no Kai either. There are certain characters that are popular on a certain level.
Characters such as Baraka, Sindel, Mileena, and Quan Chi have much popularity, but not to an iconic point. (Sindel is getting close though.)
These characters are secondary on the popularity charts. Many video games, movie series, and tv shows have this. Here are some examples.
The Simpsons: We all know that Homer is the main character of show, and is the show's icon, but he is not alone in fame. Characters like Krusty, Moe, Ralph, and Mr. Burns fall right behind him.
Pokemon: Of course for most of us, when we here the word "Pokemon", Pikachu comes to mind. Still, there are his little buddies. For the most part, there's Jigglypuff. The cute, but easily angered ball of joy captured the hearts of millions after hearing her sing, then watching her draw on people's faces. That there explains why she was a character in Super Smash Bros.
Star Wars: When it comes down to it, Darth Vader is SW's icon, not Luke. Still, Vader isn't the only with fame. Characters such as Yoda, R2D2, and Darth Sith grew popular over the years as well.
So, as you can see, Baraka is quite popular. He just isn't an icon.

Two-Face is no fighter.
I don't think he'll be in the game.

Here's something interesting, but most likely not a "hint" at anything. Take the image from Noob.com and turn up the gamma on it (I used ImageReady). In the upper right corner, near the brim of the hat, you'll see something that wasn't visible before. Now to me it looks either like one of the ninjas (Scorpion?) but also looks a bit like Cyrax or one of the other cyborgs. Here's some pics to show you what I mean. Most likely nothing, but interesting nonetheless.
Pic with gamma turned up.
Close-up
You can almost even see the hair/wires on the right side. But really, is Cyrax "iconic" enough?

hmmmm.
Here's a way to test this out. Find the same image from another site and see if using the same method yields the same image.

if you look in the upper right corner, you see the green, so sorry, not a hint, but good speculation
Hmm. I may be over-thinking this/being stupid, but I'm wondering why there's more periods than necessary on the noob.com page. Ellipses have three periods(...), but there are four periods following "wondering"
Also, there's a bolded period spaced below the hidden text...I'm confused.
Oh, and on wordlscollide I think some of the letters in the text on the bottom are green...but I may just be looking for things that aren't there.

Click Sub-zeros eye and you get a page full of question marks.
i dunno if thats been said, but i thought it was pretty obvious since they did it with MKA Also - I think Kobra is the most useless character in MK history. And if we don't see him again i'll be happy. Not a happy as if they never invented him though.

hmm... NOTICED SOMETHING
On noob.com, everyone knows that if you highlight under the picture, it says "In case you were wondering...."
BUT!!!!!
highlight more and there is just a simple "."
WHY?
It's not an html error because look at the coding
(I viewed the source of the web page to get this)
It looks as if Ed purposely seperated that "." from the rest for some reason.
any speculation on what it means?
And the two earths being connected by lightning is most likely that two realms merging together,

not really a "hint" but an unexpected snipe.
in the bunch of scans form the magazine where we first saw the flash and sonya. The article does mention a few characters unexpectedly, not in relation to the game, but in an almost un-needed fashion. the only one i recall is tlaking about unknown facts about characters perhaps making them "iconic". the ONLY one i remember as i am a fan of this character, was the random as hell throw in from the mk team "for example, did you know SEKTOR was the first of the cyborgs?"
just random stuff that is not needed to be included, but is anyways, almost like they are trying to set the eyes of avid readers onto these characters.
my money is on sektor. i know...
"its just cuz ur a sektor finatic casselman!!!"
but i honestly believe so.. if im wrong im wrong, this game looks crazy either way.

Cool theory with the Cyrax pic and movie poster.
You know, that does make sense.
It was like the “we would be surprised if Kung Lao and Sindel doesn’t make it” or something like that comment in one of the mags.
???
Sektor rocks btw. The robots are iconic in their way, so if one of them is supposed to make it, I say Sektor or Cyrax (Cyrax is quite popular and has been the more favored of the two, so I guess he has a chance as well).

Thank you. He actually is though, it just depends on the writer. Some writers portray him with fighting skills so good that he can even hold his own against Batman. It is a common misconception that he isn't a fighter.
