Fo reezy. Midway plays their cards right and it could be like giant cross-company slobberknocker. Scorpion fighting Spawn and Blackheart in the Netherrealm.

I agree. I'm more partial to Marvel than DC, but still, Marvel vs. Capcom had low res, 2D sprites. This game looks amazing, and if it plays as good as they promise, it can be solid.

I think the biggest problem with this game is the people's closed mindedness. I mean, let's face it, everyone who first heard of the idea said, "What? It's a joke, right?"

The biggest issue is to get people to play it.

I (just like many other fans ) I have wated for a new MK for 2 years although I still play MKDA,D &A .I thought it will be cool to have a new next gen MK .When I saw the first video and believed the whole rumor about the crossover I was like <> and then we got a cool render for Scorpion but still thats was not enough for me .

But after seeing more than one cool video I was convinced to buy this game .Because it looks very good and has alot of what to be called Mortal Kombat even if it is not a pure MK .

Also the return to the 2D style with the freedom of the 3D style is really a fresh start .And this can shut some kids’ mouthes which kept saying MK3D SUCKS while their japanese games suck .

So , I have saved some money for the game and Iam ready now .I have 80 $
which I saved in the last two months so I will pre -order the limited edition .

Okay, I'll admit: MK vs DC does look kind of cool, BUT:

1. They screwed up the roster (no Reptile or Mileena?)
2. The two sides don't even correspond very well - mixing MK with DC is like mixing chocolate syrup with onions.

I will buy this game, and try to enjoy it, with the benefit of a doubt that this is just a one-time thing - but I'll be damned if Boon does this to us again. DO NOT ENCOURAGE HIM.

If it plays and sells well, I wouldn't mind another crossover game. Sure, I want another pure MK game as well, but Midway owns several studios don't they? Couldn't they work on both games at the same time? I still think they should give Midway LA, who made Shaolin Monks, a shot at a MK fighter.

Spawn is actually from Image Comics.

Hmmm...Mortal Kombat vs. Image Comics.

I remember people explaining why MK Vs. Image Comics could never work. Unlike DC, which owns of all the characters from Batman, Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, the Flash to Superman, Image Comics doesn't own any of the characters.

They are just publishers. That's the same reason why you wouldn't see V, from V for Vendetta, in this game, because he isn't owned by DC. The comic was just published by them.

Well, it's not entirely impossible. That is if Midway would be willing to go through the trouble of contacting each person that holds the rights to a character and work out a deal with them.

It really would be awesome to have some of those image characters in the game. And they would fit a lot more than DC.

- Spawn
- Witchblade
- Darkness
- Savage Dragon
- WildC.A.T.S.
- Cyber Force
- Pitt

I'm well aware that Spawn isn't Marvel or DC.
I say Spawn because holy fucking shit could he be counter to Scorpion.
My idea is to be more than just one company fighting characters from another.

It's because people got used to the idea by now, that they don't realize how ridiculously Capcom and Marvel correspond. I mean, Marvel consists of super heroes, Cyclops, Wolverine, Spiderman, who have mutant super powers...
Capcom's roster consisted of Street Fighter characters who are martial artists, monsters from Darkstalkers, A little robotic kid named Mega-Man, and even Jill Valentine from Resident Evil. Marvel aside, Capcom's roster alone doesn't correspond very well. Yet people still love Marvel vs. Capcom.
Compared to that, MK vs. DC corresponds very well.

If Capcom got it to work I think Midway could do the same.

But then again Capcom did make Strider. (If you haven't played Strider; It's basically Ninjas mixed with Star Wars. I know, fucking sick awesome.)

Tatsunoko vs Capcom!!! Can't wait!

Actually, Marvel and Capcom went together pretty well. That is, if one defines a superhero as someone with super human powers who dose heroic deeds.

Captain Commando, Strider Hiryu, Ryu, Hayato, Akuma, Jin, Morrigan, and Chun-Li all have superpowers and have done some rather heroic things.

I feel like such a dork for saying that.

Okay, but if you're gonna use a definition like that, then the world of Mortal Kombat is also nothing but super heroes and super villains, the only differnce is that they're not based around sicence (mutation) they're based around fantasy (magic). But it's still the same hero, rogue, villain principle. With super powers and everything. Heck, I think half the characters in Mortal Kombat were inspired by one superhero or another.

Then, once people get used to the idea, it should be pretty widely accepted.

Of course, if this picks up, I wouldn't be surprised if Namco jumped on the bandwagon and signed with Image Comics. Considering that Namco already had Spawn in Soul Calibur 2 (Xobx version). We'll have a bunch of Fighting Games and Super Hero Franchises combined.

I had to stop reading at "Fo Reezy", but I agree with the thread title. I think that the game's not only going to be good, it's going to be GREAT. And Klose Kombat is such an innovative thing I predict more than one of the other major fighting series' will rip that off. And maybe do it better, but the idea is freash and new, and it works, and MK started it once again, just like they've started many trends in fighting games up to today over the years.
And I was think about how everyone's major complaint about this game (the people that bash it that is), is how it is just stupid cuz Superman is so over powered. And it's silly because they usually use Marvel vs Capcom 2 as the example of THE perfect cross-over. When you think about the facts about the Marvel characters, the Marvel roster in MvsC2 would be WAY over powered compared to any Capcom characters. You think Superman is overpowered?!? Superman is less than an ANT compared to the power of Thanos WITH the Infinity Gauntlet. With that Gauntlet he's all that is, ever was, and will be.
It's probably my most anticipated game of the fall, even as a PS3 owner with TONS of incredible stuff this fall. The only thing I want more is Killzone 2.

Good point about the Klose Kombat.
You know, the one thing that I've always wished MK had more of are closeup shots. I want to have a chance to get a good look at the 3D models, to see their perfection and imperfections. Maybe it's just me AS a 3D modeler, but I've always wanted to see more closeups, and varied camera angles. It was one of the best things about Armageddon's Konquest mode, as well as Shaolin Monks. The cutscenes allowed to get a good look at the characters. But this Klose Kombat is gonna help that cause a lot.

I honestly hope that if there is a second Vs Mortal Kombat title, that it doesn't include any DC characters. I would much rather them go with Marvel comics. Scorpion vs Wolverine, Cyclops vs Sub Zero, Sonya vs Rogue, Kitana vs Psylocke, Johnny Cage vs Gambit, Mileena vs Elektra, Raiden vs Thor, Shao Kahn vs Magneto. The match ups and parallels are potentially endless!

I think they'll have an MK series and an MK vs DC series going at the same time. No doubt they'll make another one. That's why they don't have all the playable characters in this one,we'd have no reason to buy the sequel.

How about Mortal Kombat vs Movie Maniacs. We could get the mature rating back and have one serious gore fest. Imagine seeing Leatherface chainsawing into one of the MK characters. I always wanted to see a game with Movie Slashers fighting one another, but getting the licenses to make it would be tricky. Kinda sucks.

When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yes sir, the check is in the mail."

Jack Burton seconds Warrior Princess...

However, I'd like for the team to begin work on the next canon MK title before that happens...just my opinion.
