okay heres my opinion...

shang tsung was an excellent character in his prime, but thanks to the mk team he has been reduced to a poor mans quan chi, i believe quan shoulda been added instead as it woulda created a strange storyline with him and scorpion having to potentially cross paths and team up.

liu kang is passed it. hes no longer the character he used to be, i see no reason for his inclusion and it irritates me that characters such as noob, ermac and sektor have to make way for liu, considering we know everything about him, hes been in our face for years.

kitana is no more of a female icon than mileena, jade or sindel IMHO. her inclusion is warrantied though due to wonder womans expected addition.

jax is a no go for numerous reasons namely, special forces, the OG appearance, similarities to sonya, and his dumbed down vocabulary, in my opinion... a bad choice

Shan Tsung is both iconic and wanted. Even though I'm a Scorpion fan too I'd actually rather have Shang Tsung in instead of Quan Chi also because of the fact that Scorpion doesn't know what Quan Chi did at this point in time. Also all the characters you mentioned are iconic

I think everyone except the last two characters needed to be in it. With the more popular female hero already in Kitana is kinda a waste in my mind and Jax is not really "iconic" sure he has his cool parts but he is still just a metal armed manly-er version of Sonya, and as far as the Shang topic goes. he deserves to be in the game. with cool powers and interesting story why would we not put him in?

dc's strongest character is superman and he is playable after all, so in the same instance shouldnt our so called most powerful character Shao Kahn be included as playable? if so they could reduce his slow blockiness and slow reflexes and make hime more like he should be, surely he is the most iconic character even to rival sub and scorpion, after all for many years he was the greatest boss, in trilogy he was a pain in the ass to beat and as in shaolin monks, he had some really cool vocals that no-one else had, he was the first with a weapon, he ruled realms and controlled armies, he is the iconic character!!!

Agreed though I have a strong feeling he will be 50% of the main boss...

Yes that is actually going to be interesting... If he does then we have all from Mortal Kombat 1 except for Goro!

Obeously the only iconic characters are the ones from the first mortal kombat

was it just me or did nightwolf seem too ridiculously jacked by the end of the MK's like not the type of build you'd expect out of a shaman.

I think it'd cool to see him doing the "heaven vaporizer"-type fatality in mortal kombat. like in the earlier games


i could also see him being the dude to figure things out and explaining to the other kombatants what the new higher threat is that they must face.

i think there will be a max of 3 human ninjas and reptile would definitely make it ahead of ermac (even though ermac rocks) just due to the green lizard ninja, just that description sets him apart. plus ermac just came later unfortuantly, however ermac would prove to be better in the storyline due to his shifts form good and evil(except he isnt good till the end of MK) w/e that aside reptile despite being the iconic unhappy servant of evil will be in there. Onaga did manifest himself in reptiles body! and also the first hidden character in any game...ever. plus he's green, and a ninja. grenn lizard ninja. in conclusion the bad guy you wish was good will make it ahead of the red bad guy servant who eventually turns good.

kung lao is iffy, but it is the descendant of the MIGHTY? Kung Lao,(throwing hat like oddjob.) makes me wonder what happened to kabal in the mix, i guess since theres no weapons his hook swords will be lost in the mix.


finnally i think that one of the 3 cyborg ninjas will make it into the game. as to decide which i think its smoke who will make it. cyrax and sektor are like pb&j, can't have the sandwich without both ingredients. however smoke stands alone being the ex friend of sub-zero could prove interesting in story due to being an ex good guy programmed bad that you wish was good type. he is gray colored robot that is the mix inbetween where all the other kombatants stand(many shades of gray). pluss alongside raiden he's one of the sew characters with an element specifically only to them, raiden has electricity flowing all around on him and smoke well, is smokey, and thats how people tell its him(except that he's gray). Finally if the story is supposed to take place between 2+3 then its also up for debate in this time whether smoke will be a cyborg or a human due to thats the time in which he turns.(interesting pull to put him in there for, so you can find out.)

however that could also eliminate him due to that confusion.

and haters on shang tsung, if you've fought shang tsung in mk 1 theres no way he wouldn't be iconic, he's the secret bane and menace of the earthrealm defenders underneath the greater evils.

I believe this also marks the returning of lui kang to his former glory, fireball throwing dragon morphing and all.

i believe if there was a non iconic/ lesser known character thrown in, (even though he is iconic) motaro could be a diffucult and unobvious choice as a sub boss, or kano or even sub zero's dead brother noob who appeared as a secret character in mk 2. those 3 are my iffy wild cards all being cult fan favorites however may be pushed aside and/or barely not making the cut. if any makes it, it'll be only one.

Jax is kinda Iconic since he is well known and he is the first Black character in the series. So he gets alot of props for that.

I think its down to the last 3 remaining MK icons

kung lao (opposed to wearing a cape he wears a hat)


hard to tell which of these will make it.

they have kano in there so theres 2 villains already, with 2 on the DC side (joker and deathstroke). Will there be more villains for each side? Or will it be left symetrical at 2 for each side. there are 2 more villians supposed to be coming for DC so maybe our bad green ninja might make an additional villian on the mk side. However how could johnny cage, an original MK kombatant not make it? and then theres Kung Lao the equal hero next Lui Kang. The guy's so cool that he's just as nifty as a ninja, minus being one.

Idk how it will turn out i hope all 3 could be in it but i'd rather not choose.

Sindel - Ex-queen of evil with very unique style and powers (ICONIC: Slightly... she's a Gay Icon though )

I hate it when fighting game developers do this, what's the point of making a game with well over 60 characters if you only care about and like.... 5 of them.

I hope to God it's Sindel, but if in fact Midway did notice that they can do a lot of creative shit with Sindel, I will tear out three of my vertebrae, bend over backwards, and eat my own ass.

The way I see it, the characters announced so far have a sort of connection with each other...

Sub Zero & Scorpion - That ongoing Saga
Raiden, Shang Tsung, Lui Kang - They always meet and battle etc.
Sonya, Jax, Kano - They are always after each other, stories intertwining etc..

Which leaves Kitana - which leads me to believe that the next two characters will be Mileena and Reptile.

Which is good, but Im a big fan of Johnny Cage and Kung Lao :(

one thing that i found pretty weird is that neither kenshi or ermac made it into mk vs. dc.

Meh, Baraka and Kano go either way for me. I would've rather seen Goro and Reptile.

They say Iconic but they really mean most the characters from MK's golden age which was MK2 and MK3.

Baraka was just the first extraordinary playable character in the game.

Shao Kahn was that big ol' bastard that everyone was trying to beat

Liu Kang was the champion (most hated one at that imo)

Raiden was the mentor

and I would say Kitana and Sonya were the female representatives :]

I mean, I always thought Iconic meant ones that went down in history as most memorable. Which, all the characters so far, did..
They obviously have to be from the earlier games, because let's face it. Most, if not all of the new characters from the more recent games... There was nothing iconic, or memorable about them.
