I like Sonya because she seems very human.Unlike like other "human" fighters that can turn into dragons,toss green orbs of energy,defeat enemys while using a resperator and slice people in two with a hat.Sonya adds diversity among the women in MK.If it wasn't for characters like Sonya,almost every MK woman would be a ninja:Kitana,Mileena,Frost,Jade,ect.

Although I admit she doesn't fit into the story very well...

And the fact that she CAN do it without the Cybernetic implants just proves the point even more that she is far superior to Jax in just about every way.

i know and accept what you are saying but i just cant get passed the human physiological law breaking that occurs with asying 'Sonya owns/is faster/whatever'
maybe its because i am an older fan in my twenties but i also look for reality in the game to enjoy it (how ironic is that). besides, i am an athlete and in my club the men and women do the exact same program but the women are never as strong or as fast or as quick as the men and there are no exceptions.
to be fair all it would really take is perhaps some background info on sonya- pre military where she may have learnt from a master or been in a clan, then i would have no problem arguing. take kill bill for example- a perfect example in fact where she learned from master pai mei, and i did not question how it was bullshit defeating this person and that person. that background information made it all believeable.

all those other earthrealm warriors u mentioned all had the martial arts background and vigourous training although JC kano and kabal are a little questionable. although sonya was mixing it with the meanest of meanies i just cant swallow that even a highly trained US soldier could ever takedown the best fighters in the world.

I agree. She is probably the most "human" of the Earth Warriors, Up until MKDA she had her Sonic Ring toss, but the fact that she was so much better in MKDA than in any previous game and she did it with out the use of any paranormal projectiles speaks very highly of her, she was pretty much the only one who had abosolutly NONE of her previous moves and it was her best showing yet...that's saying something.

He really doesn't qualify.

Yeah, sonyas faster than nitara. But I've beat sonya easily with nitara, even against my friend who owns when hes sonya.

I agree. While shes definately one of the most originals, i dont find her fitting in the MK universe either, at all. Granted, IMO the whole special forces unit doesnt fit into MK. Personally, i think shes ok, but i also think shes mad boring, and i also always thought her fatalities were awful. I must agree though, she wouldnt be able to do diddly squat against the more powerful MK warriors. Ermac would rip her ass apart.

Ahhh, ok I think I get what you saying now. It's because we have to assume that she's only military trained, because there has been no mention of any prior martial arts training, and it's hard to believe that under Military training alone that she could deal with the supernatural characters of MK? Yes, I believe you are correct, perhaps if they were to elaborate on her skills more? Perhaps do this during the course of a brand new story direction for her? I think that has possiblities, like maybe in the next game a student that she trained with so many years ago returns to tell her that her sensei has been abducted/Killed by, ....Kira maybe? or Mavado? Anyone except Kano, because I really think she's done with him. Anyway hearing this news would get Sonya to thinking in flashbacks of her time with her master and then sets out to save/avenge him, leaving the SF behind?

I would like to see the MK Team expand on Sonya's background like TomTaz said.How she learned martial arts,why she joined the military,what struggles she went through in her life.If they reveal more about her past and make her tougher it would be more believeable to see her defeat all the powerful fighters in the game(Scorpion,Baraka,Subby,Ermac,ect.)

This would be excellent for them to do...I think it would get many previous fans of hers back, you see the main complaint that anyone has against Sonya right now is that her story is stale and going nowhere, it's not so much they don't LIKE her as they've gotten BORED with her. I think if they gave fresh insite to her background, and spawned a new story direction for her, She would definitely get most of those fans back.

As much as I like the idea of having some new info on Sonya’s background and story stuff, its simply so unnecessary to talk about the way she learned her fighting abilities. If she can fight, it’s more then obvious she received some hard and tough training.

Judging from her abilities to kick ass in kombat, it’s fair enough to say she can handle/own any character in the game and story-wise, from any level and any place.

When I play with Sonya I don’t look at her as some normal average fighter, you can actually feel the complete evolution she has suffered from game one, and the immense power she has proven to have.

IMO Sonya is by far the best human/earth character in the story, and actually, way better then some mutants and specters I know.

Oh yeah, Jax better die, he is no where as good as Sonya Blade is.

If anyone needs to be back, thats (sektor is already in I think ) sonya.

Seriously people, all the human characters seem too weak compared to her. Jax is awesome, but please, sonya could replace him anyday!

Someone said storywise she could never beat quan chi or tsung, well, i have to dissagree. even though her story has not been drasticly changed in the past games, (it seemed it was going to start in her MKda ending so I have hopes) her powers have. She owns all females, and guess what, she tops more then 98% of the male characters.

And as much as I used to like Kung Lao, I dont even think he can do as well as sonya can in battle. OH, btw, you dont need a whole "bible" that should tell you how each character has learned their fighting aptitudes.

Actually it seems to be the majority opinion (myself included) the MK2 Was Jax at his best. He got completely screwed in MKDA IMO...they took away the moves that made him great. Also Raiden has already been confirmed as playable.

any character can be good if you know how to use them. some just have different advantages over others. personally i think jax was good in all the mortal kombats but he was at his best in mk2. with the classic moves returning he could be back at the top of his game
