Dead or Alive and MK are played competitively? Where? These games are not even present at the biggest tournament scene - Evo, and there is a reason for that. Yes, they are played online, but that doesn't mean that they are played competitively online. Every idiot can play these games online now days, and hence, why you have 80 players online on the PS2, and all of them are below average players. What a waste of server space.
I'll give you MvC 2 and SF: 3rd Strike. They are played everywhere, and there is a big scene for that.
I've never said Tekken 5: DR is perfect gameplay wise. It will probably never be. The only thing I've ever said is that it's better than any of recent 3D trash the MK team has released over the last 5-6 years. I'm not sure what your little brain refers to as "perfection", but can we at least agree that a game with 100+ infinite combos and random glitches is trash?
Tekken 5: DR and VF will be online. They will lag. They will be very bad because of the advanced gameplay mechanics a game like MK:A hasn't even touched on. Once you know what they are, how frame data works in a fighting game, and once you understand their effects on online play, I'm sure we'll have something to agree on.

You know what forget it... you obviously didn't understand what I said and I'm not going to flame you, just not worth it and flaming only proves the person doing so is immature about a simple debate or disagreement.
Anyway...
I will say a few things however.
First, if you're referring to my Tekken comment to Red a few posts back that you flipped out about on me it's the truth. Other then certain locations SMALL go out of your way locations, it's simply not talked about all that much around here. That's all I'm saying. Am I saying it never was? No, not at all.
Back when arcades were actually hot to go to , I've seen lots of people on the following fighters SF, MK, Primal Rage, MVC2 and Tekken(at times) and just about nobody on KI.
I'm just saying the way you talk about Tekken, it's like a "perfect" game and it's not. Now, am I saying MK is? hell no but no game I've ever played(any fighter anyway) is even close to perfect. Fun, good and awesome? yes, but perfect? Not at all.
Ok, we agree with SF3 and MVC2.
Now allow me to speak about MK and DOA4 being hot right now.
Ok, for MK MKA is played a decent amount but we can both agree that on both respected consoles it's losing it's flavor. MKA IMO is a fun game, but has it's problems.
But I wouldn't consider it at this point in time popular enough online to be an extremely competitive, there's only like 20 good players and chances are they're all on this site for xbox. I'm not counting PS2 players, you guys have your own share. I'm speaking for xbox strickly at this point.
However, you want why MK in general is hot right now? Well, UMK3 is all I have to say man. UMK3 has arguably 5 x the comp of MKA and MKD put together from both consoles..just go to www.umk.com and see for yourself. I'm pretty sure I've seen your name on there from time to time you post, and just look at the amount of players that are on there and compare it to the MK online players for MKD/MKA on here..no comparison man.
That's also not counting the MAME players that don't have a 360, and players that aren't a member of that site of Shocks, Dreemer etc. Shock is always posting about tournaments online as well as local ones in person(sometimes)
UMK3 is rising in comp at this point and will only rise higher once the DS version hits which I can tell you I will definitely play.
I currently have a new job that I got recently, quit my last job a month ago and found a new one for the summer so I'm bringing in more money so I can save for a 360 and a wii. So, once I get a 360 I'll be playing UMK3 a lot more then MKA for sure.
There's also groups that shock always talks about that play in NYC, NJ locations. He posts about them all the time man.
Now, as for DOA4 well just check out these links and let the vids do the talking. CGI national TV man, they host professional video games tournaments with the nations best players in whatever game they host. Check it out.

About Me

ur comments u make about KI s gameplay is what make me believe u never played it in the arcades, playing 2-3 games back in 1995, and playing it on a homeport. no home port conversions were close to the arcades, not even mk3... and dont even bring up mkt as a legit fighter, game was a joke.

Tekken has tournaments every weekend in numerous states with money involved of course. Apparently, you've never visited tekkenzaibatsu.com in your life. If you had, you would know that it gets more users than this site, ultimateMK.com, and www.doacentral.com combined. Go to the TZ forums, and you'll see that almost every big city has its little forum for meeting and playing purposes in the US (but also world wide as well). Tekken matches from around the world are also posted on a daily basis in the "Tekken Web Theater" forum.
And once Tekken 5: DR gets online it is probably going to blow away all the MK games and DoA games online combined as far as the amount of users are concerned. Ironically, the only thing that can hurt Tekken's online play popularity are the high level Tekken players themselves (who most likely won't play the game due to lag), and another reason might be PS3's ridiculous cost of course. I'd be rather surprised if I didn't see 3000+ users on the first night.
From what people have been telling me and from what I've seen myself since I actually go to these tournaments sometimes, DoA (which I have yet to see in any tournament) and UMK:3 (which I've seen only once) are barely even present. The most popular games at tournaments are:
1. SSMB (very popular even though I hate it myself)
2. 2D's (mostly 3rd strike and MvC2)
3. Tekken
The rest is almost non-existent, and I'm not being biased. This is based upon my experience in the east coast since I live in Ohio.

Swoozie is my friend btw, he's one of the best DOA players in the nation and most likely the world given his DOA4 xbox live rank and rep.
It's the ONLY fighting game right now that's played professionally on national TV with Direct TV hosting it and unlike our talents on here with MK, the winner of these tv tournaments win money, big money.
Well, you're right I never went to that site but have heard of it. If the tekken site DOES indeed have more users then this site, that's pretty impressive because let's just say that UMK3 is a newer site and already has near to 1000+ members to my knowledge at this point(or near it) as far as a newer site that's pretty damn good, Mkoutworld has a couple of thousand and MKO has probably all of that and then some.
I did ask a few months back on here what the totals were and I can't remember but it was a very high number.
UMK.com will rise, give it time. The sites not even a year old and already broke the member record for the most newer MK sites such as umk.com, mkac(joke IMO), mkfanatic, kami(when they first started not too long back) etc.
I must say umk.com and MKO are my two fav MK sites and best IMO.
I'm just saying as far as professionally, DOA4 is the only fighter so far to make it as big as Tekken or UMK3 might have been or are right now neither are pro..yet.
I do agree with you about the Tekken online, it will no doubt attract more people as did the other fighters when they wer first announced to go online which IMO they HAD to do because every other fighter has already gone online before them and VF as you may or may not know Microsoft recently announced that the 360 version of VF5 will be online, unlike the PS3 version.
I guarantee that once MK8 hits both 360 and PS3, there will be patches for sure for the 360 the way PS3 is going right now I'm not sure that will happen.
One thing I will say despite both consoles past with games, sales xbox definitely is the top console for online play easily. They know their shit with online gaming and it's well worth it IMO most of the time.

To red, well I have played KI in the arcades but not nearly as much as MK, SF for sure.
Did you just say I didn't play MK3 at the arcades? lol you really don't know me if that's what you think. I lived whereever there was ANY MK arcade machine near me that I could get. Obviously certain spots in LI or NJ far out I could not go to however, that's not to say I've never been to any good spots.
Way back in AC there were certain spots where arcades were hot at the time, they're not there anymore but you had to put you quarters up on the UMK3 machine and MK3 to get a game otherwise you would stand there the whole day.
I didn't see this at ALL with any arcade KI, I've seen it with just about every other fighter except KI.
BTW, you're right SOME home console conversions suck or aren't nearly as good as the good old arcade port however MK2 for the SNES was pretty damn good IMO compared to the rest.
