UMK3 is not broken as shit, please tell that to the classic players and they will laugh at you so hard it's not even funny. You know most fighters have "tricks" to exploit right? The guy I know that plays DOA professionally says although a good game, it has some tricks people can abuse, same with games like MVC2 had tons of infinites..etc. So it's not just MK that has things to exploit, just about every fighter has top tier characters, tricks/glitches or infinites.

UMk3 is one of the best fighters ever, whether you want to believe it or not that's a fact. It's one of the few MK's that can seriously be played competitively because it's the most balanced. It's not broken like say MKA where you can just AC/33 all day to pull out victories... of all the midway games you like the new area 51? wow...to each his own man but the old one is so much better then the newer ones.

To everyone here just a general statement I have to make since I've played hours of this thing. On the wii, wii sports doesn't suck. It's the best sports intuitive game of 2006 enough said. The controls are tight, the bowling and baseball especially are incredibly realistic. Believe me, I've bowled in actual leagues therefore I know and can judge. The wii bowling is factually the best bowling video game out there. The baseball will redefine baseball games on the wii(although tire your arm out)

The tennis is also tons of fun. Boxing and golf are good too but one is boring and the other will tire you out after a matches.

Otherwise it's a great game, launch title or not along with the wii.

Also, yes the wii is cheaper but that's not the only reason it's selling well. Guarantee if it were 300 like original rumored price it'll still be kicking ass in the console wars right now.


You must realize that Nintendo has introduced something new, intuitive and new as oppose to the same old boring shit with a control and a wire pushing buttons...a great concept for fighting games perhaps but me personally I'd rather be shooting something at the screen literally as oppose to using two analog sticks, or literally swinging a bat to hit a ball as oppose to time it and hit a button..

The wii simply gives you more control in certain games as oppose to the typical controller layout format. Therefore it's better. And anyone can pick up and play, that's what it's about not just beginners or advanced players. Anyone. You can be a great player in wii sports, I bowled a 300 in it finally. I took a pic of it also since most who I tell don't believe me and I'm well over pro in that, baseball and almost there with tennis. Not easy believe me.

Once the new Mario games come out, SSBM, Metroid Prime 3 etc then you're going to see a serious hurting on the other systems. Mark my words. I can see the Halo fans with H3 being satisfied but they need to dish out more games, and PS3 has to start being good all together. They've sucked since day one as far as I'm concerned.

if a poll was done in the fighting game community and every was to list the best fighers from 1990- present .. not one mk game would be in the top 5.

umk3 might fall about 8th or 9th. no other mk would make top 20.

I didn't say MK3, I said UMK3. Big difference speaking as how MK3 had some issues to attend to such as Subby's broken clone to name one.

I doubt that ^^, you see it depends WHERE that poll would be taking place. If it was usa, canada or this side guarantee UMK3 would be there if it was in asia.pfftt they don't play any american games period. That includes MK, GTA, Quake etc, etc.

lets see i bought a xbox when capcon vs snk 2 came out, why cause it was the only game still be played in the arcades, and it was online.

i didnt touch mkda for more than a week, why cause it wasnt online and was pulled from the arcades.

than came mkd, why did i play it, cause it was the only online fighter.

i played doa 2, ddint really like it, so why would i play doa4 and doa ultimate.

got my 360, umk3, sf2.

now other fighters are online, thats why i play mk. maybe u enjoy playing the cpu in games, i dont. i have never played the cpu once in mkd or mka.


if u think mk is the most popular fighter in the US, than why can it not sell as much as tekken and other. shipped 1 million copies is not selling 1 million copies.

Red dont you have a PS2 or PS3 now. So you could play Tekken or VF but you dont. You clearly can play DOA online but you dont. So what is your point. You love MK and you find it most enjoyable. my xbox 360 has not ever seen a disc in it yet. just xbla games.

Yet it sells well enough to bring an 8th installment into the franchise unlike most other fighters...which when they started at the same time era wise as MK, they are now dead.

Tekken has still yet to go online...how long will they use the same lame "don't want to mess up the game online due to lag" concept? Let's see here did that stop MK, SF, DOA, KOF from doing so? I don't hear many people talking about Tekken these days other then the "diehard Tekken fan" yet MK, SF and DOA I hear a lot more then Tekken...that's for sure. Until they go online, it's nothing to brag about...there's not form of expanded comp for "such a great fighter" well part of a fighter is a way to have compeition, Tekken lacks that right now other then Japan. Are you seriously trying to understand Red and his love/loathe for anything MK? I think Red is somewhat confused and disillusioned and can't possibly understand why he spends so much time on MK even though he hates it with passion.

u cant compare sf to any games, sf is a 2d game, a 2d game will play easier and less laggy than a 3d game.

tekken dont need to go online, its fan base is alot biiger than mk and they still make there games for the arcades, and u can go an plug ur ps2 controller into the arcade machine and use that.

so yes, mk is the only online game.

mkda sold well cause was the first 3d mk game, but its replay value wasnt longer than 2 months.

if mkd wasnt online playable, it would have bombed, than u get there 2nd online game, and it sold half as many units as mkd.

now u run into the next gen, mks biggest sales came from ps2...

they will be in serious trouble when there biggest sale group will come now from xbox players.

they will be lucky if they break even on mk8.

I actually understand Red very well. I am being serious for a sec and I am stepping out of my Mav persona.

I actually feel very sorry for Red. I think he is filled with so much self-hate and loating that he cant really like anything else. I think that Red's caregivers were probably very critical of him, just as he his critical of the world. I believe that if we were to actually meet Red he would be extreme on a few categories. He is either very thin or very fat. Very sloppy or very neat. I think because he was always made to feel less than perfect at everything he did that he is afraid to do things out of fear of failure, critism and rejection. However, he needs to create situations for himself in which failure is impossible. That is why he puts things down. For Red being wrong is the worst thing possible...it brings back all the horrible critizism that he has internalized. So therefore, by making everything meaningless the critisism become meaningless. Take this game for example...Red wants/needs this game to be broken. If not then when he loses...he is a LOSER. However, by it being broken all losses have no meaning. That is why he dedicates so much time to finding glitches. The sad part is that all wins have no meaning either. He has created a situation in his head (which I am sure extends beyond the game) in which protects himself from critism and rejection, but also makes it so he will have difficulty experiencing the good things in life. Take his loss to MKF, it was obvious that the 33 wasnt working...but he kept doing it. He did it so when he lost he had the out of saying "lag" or "I couldnt use 33". I will bet money that if Red is at a bar NONE of the woman are good enough. There is also the chance he doesnt go to bars because he feels they are a big waste of time. The thing is that he will never experience a good woman because of that. Red....its ok....and you are ok...its ok to be just who you are. And I am sorry for the way you were treated it wasnt right

MK made 3 games? umm no they've made 7 fighters, 3 adventure and I'm not even counting the portables but MK:DA TE was not bad, MKAdvance sucked...

The tekken fanbase is bigger in asia no doubt but here in the USA? again, I hear a lot more talk about MK, SF and DOA then I ever hear about Tekken.

So as far as the regular fighter games I count 7 in total, not 3 what world are you living in? MKD/Midway KNEW the fans wanted online so ...they delivered unlike RARE with KI 3 that promises their fans ohh yeah, we will make KI3..right and Tekken that has yet to even go online because they're afraid to.

So, you're again faced with A. good game however sacrifice NO online play that would expand your comp, who cares the fans can still play the computer a million times...or umm travel across the world, country to play other players....again WHO IS GOING TO DO THAT? I sure as hell am not and I seriously doubt most on here would.

What you have to realize is that Mk is one of those very popular series for various reasons, whether it's gameplay, storyline, darkness, characters, modes whatever...it will always sell good enough to keep going as long as Midway does new things and as long as the fans are willing to buy it.

This is not the same with games like KI and SF however, SF in 3D failed horribly and KI well....that series has been long dead and RARE keeps lying to the fans about a third game which they've been saying now for 5 years...

i count 3 cause the last 3 were home ports only, mkda would have been an arcade port but they droped the arcade division mid production.

sf failed at 3d? they made 1 game and i was as good as the first mk attempt at 3d, which was called war gods... that game was a mess all the way around.

tekken still has an arcade fan base, so how can u say mk is more popular than tekken, its not even close. and yes im taking about the US.

also War Gods WAS NOT an MK game. Now as far as a Tekken arcade fan base....Who cares about arcades? That is like saying like measuring music artist by record sales...in the industry everyone knows record sales mean nothing anymore.
