"Skab"

A friend and I were watching the newest IGN trailer again last night after reading some of the threads and theories around here.

First of all... The Gamepro picture is quite small but looks to resemble Shao Kahn. The character in Puzzle Kombat is wearing what appears to be the same thing..

Now, I know that this was late last night but the theory still stands today, as far as I'm concerned, until its proved otherwise. "Skab" could be Shao Kahn.


While comparing outfits, we just came to the conclusion that it could very well be Shao Khan based on a few things:

It's been stated that Kahn wasn't exactly dead. Maybe he was regaining strength? We know that he's a very strong figure in the Mortal Kombat universe and he may just have the means to reappear to avenge himself.

With the characters appearing in and around Deception (playable, not in Konquest) Kahn would have no problem having an integral part in the storyline. He has ties with every important returning character, not to mention the Dragon King.

The outfit seen in Gamepro/Puzzle Kombat strongly resembles the one worn by Kahn in the earlier games. People have claimed to see the straps, the belt... Even the skull mask. Is it Shao Kahn? Is it Reiko? Is it Skab? Sure.

Since Skab made his first appearance, people have been talking about his name and how horrible it is. The MK team is known for using concept names RIGHT up until release. Ketchup. Mustard. Maybe Skab was one of these names? It could be more than we thought:

I don't know. I thought I'd throw it out there. Supporting facts seem to be in order.

I agree 100% with Jax007, it is Skab (Havik).

The helmet is what gives it away, if that is his alternate or not, I don't think it matters. The helmet is the key to figure out who it is.

I have seen the shots first hand in the magazine, not scans, and I can say without a doubt its him.

Sorry, no Shao Kahn.

S.K.A.B= Shao Khan is A Badass. if that was shao khan and skab and reiko have the same purple ninja outfits, then LOL. Anyway it looks like fujin in that screen to me cause i know he is playable and i also know they have the same belts in the two same pics, and the same white hair and also i think i see a cape. Its Fujin. who cares anyway games almost coming out soon and as long i have have seen smokes picture in that magazine confirming that it was smoke cause it was talking about noob and smoke and those two pics were near so i seen them and confirmed that smoke was that white dude so i am cool. Dont care cause shuginko is gonna be the biggest badass in that game dude to he is the new hero and can have anybodys fighting styles and weapons he chooses.

it's an interesting point about skab being shao kahn...

another fact to support your theory is that the only part of skab's face that's left is the part where shao kahn's mask would have been...maybe the blow that knocked the mask off his head in the Deadly Alliance fmv is the blow that caused the deformity....huh...interesting

Thanks to those who supported me. You have a point about the mask, that's further evidence.

Skab could truly be Shao Kahn, I wouldn't be surprised.

I never thought about it until last night. While its still a theory (no one will know until the game is actually released) I have a strong feeling that this is true.

I don't ususally get involved in character chat.. But this jumped out at me, it seems obvious.

I watched again the trailer, and it seems you have right... It could be effectively Skab... I can't upload the pic, but, for those who have yet the trailer on their computer, look the trailer and try to pause at 00:00:45 seconds : left side has effectively no sleeve, we can't see the arm, but we can see his chest...

I am now 99.99999% sure that the person in the scan is Skab in his alternate costume. :)

I have a question and I'm sorry if this is a bit off topic, but since when and where was Skab said to be Havik?

For the moment, we are not completely sure : maybe Skab is Havik, maybe Skab is Onaga, but Onaga sounds more like a sub-boss name...

Somehow I doubt they would make Shao Kahn, one MK's biggest and baddest, some mere unlockable character. Something tells me that when they decide to bring him back, it'll be as a main story presence and not some afterthought.

nope its skab...i watched th tailer over and over again...and i found its the sam person in the mag. its his alt.
