Ok, big update of course this isn't 100% confirmed but looking like MK8 will indeed be a crossover game with DC

MK vs. DC, however....it gets better.

According to sources that I've been doing my best digging lol prior to tomorrow's Midway Gamer's day(which I'm sure will confirm this either way) but if all is true it's looking like the wii version of MK8 will be an MK vs. DC game, new characters, new story, everything...and you'd have to assume online play this time for the Wii. Midway and Boon wanted online play for the Wii version of MKA however, Nintendo's online format wasn't ready yet when MKA was released but I'd imagine it will be online this time.

Now, MK8 however is said to be a game by itself(non-crossover with DC or anything) and will be a game in itself with the UR engine for 360 and PS3.

Sounds very interesting honestly, and I'll get both.

I never assume anything before confirmed news but lots of info is being leaked all over now about MK vs. DC so it's looking more and more true.

My thoughts? I'm happy this will happen, for one I was never against this idea but skeptical....I love the Justice League and never miss a show of Smallville so honestly I'm looking forward to this.

Of course more rumors upon rumors but supposedly the game is said to look insanely great as in take a backseat Tekken, VF...great with the UR engine. hehe, can't wait

there have been hints indicating that the next game is indeed the 8th chapter in the mortal kombat franchise.

im sorry to burst your bubble. but in no way, shape or form will mk8 be a crossover game.

mk8 will be about rewriting the story of the tournament that is mortal kombat following the events of armageddon.

either tavens ending came true and all the warriors became stronger

or daegons ending came true and the storyline will follow the main character of mk7: taven.

if neither are those are the case, then the entire series is being revamped and the entire game that is MKA was completly fake, and just a excuse to close the chapter in this generate. a copout, a ploy, to remove 60+ characters.

there is always the possibility that noone defeated Blaze ( because he is God Tier, lol ) and the possibility of the One Being has came true and all the realms have been merged into one.. the clouds hovering around Earth on Noob.com ( second Earth ) very much could signify that the entire game is dark and moody, and everything else we have heard about the new MK game being. which i like, its like the temples of boom of MK games. ( all my cypress heads know whats up ) and if i didnt mention, temples of boom was by far, cypress hills best album. lol ; )

in no way shape or form do i think anyone has anything to worry about MK vs DC. DC doesnt exactly scream dark/mk to me. fans of the storyline will be pissed and already are due to the lack of story in MKA. the MK team knows they need to make up for it.

all i can say is, if MK* is in fact a crossover, you can kiss the mk franchise goodbye. ( still might be a good game though, but i sure as hell wont buy it because i have no interest in DC, its childish to me )

im very excited for the news on friday. unfortunatly i will be away till the 27th so i wont know until i get back what happened. i hope i am not disapointed. but coming from a person who loves the MK series as much as i do. i dont think anyone has anything to worry about with the next MK game being a crossover. and i doubt a seperate WII only version will be made. thats not exactly fair to ps/xbox users. the WII has made its choice to be the system it is. i can see some sort of WII only game being utilized with the system though at some point in time.

no point in talking about online play because that fails in every respect to the way the game was created/meant to be played. i love the ideas i have heard about it. and possibly the konquest mode might actually be the online mode. in terms of walking around and looking for fights etc. maybe even with the whole storyline etc. it makes much more sense to go in this direction then to experiment with crossovers at this time

and lets face it, mk characters are too good to need a crossover game. thats what i love about mk personally. is the characters, they speak to me. they always have, theyve drawn me in since the begining and have never failed.

imo, there will never be another mk game as good as MKA. thats just my personal feeling. but the problem with the mk games today is once a new one comes out, the last one becomes irrevelant. i think i heard shock say that once. and the problem with the majority of the mk community is they cant think for themselves so they just follow the pack.

mkf - wouldnt you rather have a all mk game? imo, its such a disgrace to the franchise and makes it look like they cant handle it on their own, so they need to borrow characters from other franchises. i just dont think the mk team is in that state of mind. i think the mk team wants to make the most brutal fatalities the series has ever seen. to take the franchise to the next level and utilize what we know about mk and focus it onto the new consoles.

Well, I'd have to disagree with you on certain elements. MKA can and still does exist either way. You see MK8 as I'm sure you know by now dude is completely new, new timeline, new storyline everything....so with MK8 despite it being a crossover or not....will continue with the storyline some how, some way.

Or....they can go with with route of "before MK storyline" but I don't think that will happen honestly....that would make a few things complicated

As for the MK8 name, it's just a name. If MK8 is a crossover then the title can be something pertaining to a fresh start or something pertaining towards both MK and DC's universe within the title. That's assuming Mk8 for all consoles will be a crossover game to begin with. Like I said man, this is just lots of site speculation, nothing is 100% confirmed.

However, this is my view on MK8. Crossover or not, if someone is a "true" MK fan you'll play it regardless....accept it. We've seen just about every other fighting franchise at some point have a crossover or have a few crossover characters from other universes and survive. Marvel vs. Capcom had some weird match ups..and although the game was broken(As malone very well explained a few times on here) it was received pretty well.

We've seen SC have ridiculous characters in their games like Spawn, Link, Yoshimitsu and now Darth Vader and Yoda? okey then... lol see what I'm saying here? I;m surprised VF and DOA don't have some kind of crossover with characters..

Now, I suppose the reasons for these other games are to just attract more fans since lets face it...all fighters except for MK storyline wise suck ass straight out. So, they probably figure hey putting Vader or Yoda or Spawn have nothing to lose(when in reality they do a little bit from certain SC fans) just like with this huge rumor with MK vs. DC, there's those fans that won't play it if it's true and those that will regardless, and those that will give it a shot at least.

On the online play, well I personally feel that's opinion. If online play was that bad then nothing would be online and if you ask me what would you rather have, a game that's fun and offers online play thus expanding competition and dealing with some lag? Or...having a fun game you enjoy with NO online play and only way of competition is traveling at some arcade somewhere.? The second one is not going to happen in this day in age man, let's face it. With the exceptions rarely of Evo or some underground tournament, it's just not happening and every fighting game has officially gone online now man. Even the ones that were against it such as Tekken, VF etc. I have no problem what so ever how MKD and UMK3 play online for the most part, MKA plays poorly but hey at least I get to play my friends and other comp right?

On your point about MK fans tending to "go with the flow with other fans" I agree for the most part, although I do feel that a lot of MK fans IMO worry about trivial stuff...like fatalities, someones bio, crossover characters, stages, a certain character etc...

Not for nothing but this shouldn't be an MK fans #1 priority. It should be gameplay, one...then everything else after this...perhaps the online play, then storyline, extra modes, then fatalities stages etc. Because let's face it, if the gameplay and fun online play isn't there and doesn't appeal to majority then who cares about the other petty stuff? That's what I think but to a point. However, another reason why I love MK is for the storyline and the characters but say someone doesn't die or a certain character doesn't make it in there...will I bitch about it for months and not play the game like some MK fans have on here? not at all, to me those are posers, fake MK fans if you will that go with the flow of "the haters" sometimes if you know what I mean.

Example, I know people that hate MKA just because of the fatalities alone...now I'll admit personally I think they're a bit weak, silly and not nearly as good as the older ones. However, will that be enough for me to say "ohh fuck MKA, it sucks" hell no since chances are those are the same fans that don't play it competitively, don't fully understand what the rest of the game offers....and surely since you love MKA check you can understand what I'm saying here.

Hell, even the Mini games are a lot more fun then other fighting games....what's better? Tekken bowling or Motor Kombat online up to 8 people? Or SC's attempt at an adventure game or MK's konquest modes? Exactly...I try my best to judge a game based off of "the overall package" not just one element, not just two elements. A lot of MK fans tend to be ignorant to what the game whole features and offers. Not just talking about the recent MK's, most of them. Like for example, why UMK3 is the best 2D MK game? It's easy, the gameplay is there, storyline is very good and it's one of the most competitive, popular MK games out there. Nuff said.

Or similar reasons with MKD and MKA, those fans that love MKD way more then MKA love it from a presentation point of view, storyline or because of the mini games....now as for gameplay? you know as much as I do that MKA is way superior and that there's more tactic involved....between playing the game myself as a veteran MK player at high level and watching your vids I know this and I know you agree with this point lol. You always see my comments here and there.

I think more MK fans should be a few things. A. not so judgmental(especially prior to a game coming out MK8*cough*) B.more openminded, yes MK's cast is awesome enough not to have a crossover but if it does, it does. Will you not play it just for that reason alone? I'm sure if anyone here that doesn't even want to play the game if it's true...were making a game themselves they'd see what I'm saying. When you make your vids check, you want people to watch, see and observe right? Same thing in my case when I use a character well or say making one of my sculptures. You do your best and want recognition for it. Same thing with Midway or any other developer for that matter. These people work hard, try to please every MK fan which won't happen and can't happen but at the very least we can try to accept new ideas. It's still an MK game and my motto is this " If you're a true MK fanatic, then you'll play or at least give every MK game a shot"

There are some fans on here that judge a book by it's cover...think that because Batman and Superman possibly being in it, will "automatically" kill things....how do they know this? They don't and that frustrates me personally because that's an ignorant attitude to stand by as far as I'm concerned. What if MK8 is a crossover game and it plays awesome, then what? People will hate it because they hate DC or hate Batman or something...guarantee it.

I've met the 3 different kinds of fans on here Check, the MK fans that are loyal, love their MK and will enjoy it regardless but of course will have their favs over others.

B.Then there's the type that will NEVER EVER be pleased no matter what comes out of Midway, these fans I hate honestly and are not MK fans. Because if they were, they'd be open to new ideas, and no matter what new ideas Midway tries, these fans will NEVER be pleased...a lost cause IMO and seem to get off bashing every MK game ever made or stupid, trivial reasons to bash it. They care and want only what THEY personally want, they don't care what other fans want and in some cases what an MK game to be "just" like their fav game like say Tekken, SF or SC...pfft that's not happening and never will. Even those games have flaws, and not fighter is "perfect"

And then you have the "fighting fans" the fans on here that play all fighting games and seem to have their fav fighting games from each franchise. These guys are a little of both of the A and B. Sometimes they can be objective and open, other times not so much.

I don't see this idea(should it be true) as a desperate sign on midway. I see it as something new, an idea that's never been done before in the DC or MK universe so why not consider it?

Of course I want to see MK8, dark, gritty, nasty and vengeful but who's to say they can't still go with that route with DC characters. There's some DC guys that are dark, crazy or evil etc Batman, Darkseid, Joker etc and as far as powers, they offer that too.

Say this rumor turns out to be true, it could just be like I said perhaps a wii exclusive...(it's own side game part of the MK8 saga, that's explained in the wii version) with MK vs. DC, however say the other versions might be the strick "darker, grittier MK8" that the darker MK fanatics wish for.

Now, there's something else you should know. I'm not completely against this because I happen to like DC comics. Another thing that I've noticed about this site is that it's soo pro-marvel it's sickening at times...

People wouldn't have a problem if it were Marvel characters, yet DC....even though Marvel was highly inspired and got their ideas from DC character to begin with. You see the irony here? lol

Being a fan of both universes hardcore, I can tell you that there would be some interesting possibilities.

I'll post again in here with some of my match ups that could be interesting say this happens.

Now, say this is all complete BS.. and MK remains itself, I'm good with that too however I also know that although those "crossover worried" fans will love that news, give it time and they'll bitch about something they hate in MK8 alone. That's just how a lot of MKO is sadly....lol
