Khameleon is only a name and history... this is the only difference between her and a complete new character... sincerely, I prefer that again Nitara manipulated Reptile (telling him the true about his race) to fight Shao Kahn, but also in his ending Reptile discover that was Nitara who killed Khameleon (the last matriarch of his race).
With this, Reptile finally knows the true and becames a stand-alone whorty character, but also would have a reason to follow in the next chapter (and also Nitara). The MKDA triangle storyline (Nitara-Reptile-Cyrax) is by far my favourite, and I hope that in some way continue in MKAr and next chapters...

Nitara and Khameleon would probably wind up feuding.
The key is that Reptile has always been manipulated. Shang Tsung, Shao Kahn, Shinnok, etc. Khameleon would try to break him away from that and repopulate the race of Saurians.
She is a huge part of Reppy's storyline and it would be a shame to leave that stone unturned. And yeah, Ed Boon said "no stone will be left unturned."

Geez there are already 50 something chrarcters. Who gives a fuck if one is missing. Besides you can creat Khameleon if she ends up not being in it.

But she wouldnt be in Reptiles storyline if she was a KAK

she probably wont be in reptiles story line anyway, considering she might not make it in.
still i think they should save her for MK8 that way they could focus way more attention on her and have a reason to bring reptile into the next generation of mortal kombat games.

Or here's an idea:
Pt Khameleon in MKA and have her mate with Reptile, then make them have two children a son and daughter, then put the kids in MK8
