If it ever was, it hasn't been that in a long time! It's a pretty general hi-tech battlesuit, good for most supervillain situations, and more than an equaliser for battling the strength of Superman.

I agree that limited fighting skills make him a relatively unattractive in-game prospect, but he's not without his skills. It's worth remembering that he's much more versatile (and competent) than Gene Hackman or Kevin Spacey's characters.
Unlike other soon-to-be former US Presidents, he's served plenty of time in the frontlines. It just so happens his battles are usually with the Justice League...

Explain to me, what will Lex Luthor's fatality be?
All he does is shoot rays over and over and over.
Occasionally he will but on gloves that has kryptonite, but those can't be used in a martial arts situation.

Make a kryptonite mountain to wreck the stage? Pay them to leave?

He could do all kinds of wacky gadgetry things... Like... Inject his defeated opponent with a subatomic bomb and blow them up... Or surround them with nanorobots that break down their body cell by cell... Or strap them to his powersuit and run away while it self-destructs... Or use his powersuit/pop a pill and rip his opponent's limbs off...

Or, y'know. There's still the naked psycho-sexual break down, where he oils his head up, and starts painting S's on his fallen opponent's chest with it...

Joker's not a martial artist and everyone seems to want him in this game for some reason. At least Lex's suit has superstrength and can fly.

The thing about Joker is that he reinvents himself constantly. This leads to writers occasionally writing him as a proficient fighter who can take some serious punishment.

Most versions of the Joker can take a pounding, but very few examples come to mind for much more than a few awkwardly thrown punches.

Joker has a lot going for him in terms of name recognition, but short of a really bizarre custom designed fight style built around having bones broken and flailed about in an offensive manner, the Joker's a bit out of place. There's probably enough of the superficial to justify it, but even Luthor's got a bit more to him in the combat arena.

Damn, I'd forgotten all about Deathstroke. I read some comics when I was younger that had him in it. Hopefully he'll make it, that'd help satisfy my irrational need for the roster to have as many ninjas as possible (yes, I'm being serious, I'm one of those fans).

I was hoping for a few lesser-known characters (Eclipso would've been awesome in this game), but given the small roster that's probably wishful thinking.

I really doubt Martian Manhunter is in the lineup.... he was killed in Final Crisis #1 after all....

Zatanna's a heroine, and since they specified between villain and villainess, I don't see why they wouldn't do the same for hero and heroine
