I actually liked Jax in UMK3 or MK Trilogy...

I like Jax. He's pretty cool and iconic..just as long as a spot wasn't taken from Raiden it's all good.

Strawman fallacy. That description doesn't fully represent the Lin Kuei and Noob/Smoke scenarios, and it omits a lot of relevant information.

From the get go, Smoke is the initial alley to Subzero, whose one of the most pivotal characters of the series. That alone made him an agent of Subzero's character development for MK3. Need we mention he was the template for Noob's army as well Noob's poetic mockery to Subzero? On top of that, there is still so much we don't know about him. How did he get in Kahn's fortress? What became of him after Noob's fall in Konquest? Was the MK3 ending factual to the series? His story BEGS for another entrance into the series.

And I'll say exactly what I said in the Ermac thread: Smoke is the tragic victim of mortal kombat. He is an assassin who found penance in suffering.

well than it sounds like he deserves to get some good treatment in MK9 or whatever the next "real" mortal kombat is numbered.

but for this game jax is perfectly fine. it would be odd to have smoke in this game. he'd seem really out of place considering as far as we know all the characters previous background are still counting towards the canon of the series.

I somewhat agree. But I think if we do see Smoke again, it will most likely be in MK10. Reason being is that they wanted a very small roster of returning characters after MKA for MK8, so they may still apply that for the next installment.

But since this game hypothetically takes place prior to MK3 (even if it's not in the timeline), we could have seen human Smoke remastered and utilized in MKvsDC. Even if Smoke does come back in a fiture installment, I doubt we'll ever see him fully realized in his human incarnation.

We all know Raiden is probaly in this game I hope Reptile makes it. Glad that Joker and Green Latern made the cut. I don't like Jax being in though, hes alright.

And people, after MKU, Jax started gettinbg very veeery interesting. Not only thanks to the whole weird anger part of MKU, but also thanks to the clues we got in Sonya's MKA bio about him.

Awesome. He has potential, and imo, he started to get out of Sonya's shadow in MKDA.

Im happy he is....but I hope he didnt take the place of more iconic characters I'd prefer to see: Rayden, Johnny Cage, Mileena.

Jax is awesome - I'm so glad he made it in; I don't get why he's seems so disliked on here. Just as long as they get his look right (I'm hoping either John Parrish or Lynn "Red" Williams) that is, just anything but his MKDA appearance. I'd actually perfer it if he didn't have his bionic arms for this one.

Now that Kitana is in, I'm hoping Mileena follows - just like Scorpion and Sub-zero, Kitana and Mileena are yin and yang.

I think Darkseid or Brainiac may be the in the game as a main villian/sub boss. In the 3rd trailer, at the beginning of the Metropolis scene, there is either one of Darkseid's attack tanks or a kryptonian tank.

I'm excited for Kitana, but I'm really hoping Mileena still makes it in.

For the rest of the roster, i'm probably sur for Raiden and Reptile, they are two fan favourite and 2 of the most interesting character in the MK World.

I was hoping for some extra hidden characters like Palmiotti, but why not some MK kharacters... like the elusive Smoke ! I hope so !

I hope Jax wears a damn shirt this time. There was a storyline reason why he didn't wear one in MKII (Shang Tsung burned it off with a Flaming Skull), but for the love of God, Special Forces agents don't run around topless all the time!

Then again, they don't show off their midriffs either, like Ms. Blade.

The shirtless fighters (Kang, Cage and Jax) never bothered me. I guess they are shirtless because they are getting ready for combat, although I don't see how a shirt could possibly get in the way of combat.

I can understand Jax and Kitana being chosen, but that leaves only one space left if the worlds collide website is anything to go by. Maybe a hidden character as well.

I'll be so surprised (and disappointed) that Raiden doesn't make the final cut. That would leave only real reason for me to buy the game is Catwoman and she's a DC character.

Good coverage on this game so far. Good to hear that Tobias
is working on some MK stuff. Maybe it will pay off and he does
an all new story for MK9.

I'm sure Raiden is going to make it. He's almost a no brainer, like Wonder Woman, at this point. The other 2 per side will be the unknowns, and hopefully some surprises...

This is the MK team's only chance to redeem Jax for the awesome character he was supposed to be. He hasn't been worth a damn since MK3.

Swing and a miss on Jax.....Most of the roster is kickass, but I would've been happy without jax filling a hole that could've been used by someone better....but....yay Jax fans.

This game is shaping up to be great.

Jax is a VERY cool character if he have ALL his special moves back.

In MKA and MKDA he was boring because his 'new' moves were lame (like the gun)


He needs his classic moves from MK2-MK3 like the gotcha punch, the backbreaker and the multi-slam

I don't really care about those two but I have no problem with them either
