So these are the results of all the screaming matches going on in the Midway offices as to who will be in the game. Greenberg made a point of this on one of the previous MKasts. Of course the one that stuck out for me was the announcement of Baraka being in the game.

Baraka is in the top 10 as far as my personal favorites, but I thought that Noob, Reptile or even Milleena would have made it instead. Are they actually going to let Baraka use those blades(pig stickers) to rip someone apart in a fatality and make it look teen? Can't wait to see how creative Midway will get with this one.

As far as the roster as a whole, I pretty much only give a hoot about who is in the true canon MK games. Spares me the disappointment in case my faves don't make the cut. I'm not as familiar with the DC crew as others so I am neutral in that department.

In conclusion now that the final roster is out my hopes are for Midway to immediately get the ball rolling with MK9.

I didn't think about that. Would be pretty funny if there was a huge backlash against DC once they find out how violent it is, sue Midway for breach of contract or something, and this game gets thrown in the vaults.

Sheesh take it easy man, it takes a lot of time for those guys to even bring you the likes of Sub-Zero and Scorpion. I am a bit shocked that they would not include Cage or Kung Lao as playable characters, but I choose to stay optimistic and use characters that I don't normally play with such as Baraka. Baraka has a unique concept behind him so I dig the final decision. Alot of people are talking about downloadable content, and if that is the case thats a plus. I'm sure the MK Team is reading this right now smacking themselves in the face for not including the likes of Reptile, Mileena, Cage, and Kung Lao so if there is an option to download them that would be cool.

I'm wondering what Baraka's outfit will look like. I know his MKD revamp was pretty sweet.

I'm happy with Kahn and Baraka. Too bad Kung Lao isn't in the game, but it's ok.

Im suprised most of you havent figured out why they chose Baraka over everyone else:DLC! Think about it, most people wanted Cage, Mileena, Kung Lao, and Reptile. If you can buy them, you WILL. A good example is Rock Band, the songs you can download are better than the tracks on the disk. Midway knows you pay $5-10 for your favorite character.

I meant to ask this before: Has DLC actually been confirmed? I see a lot of people throwing the term around, but I haven't seen anything from official sources actually confirming it to be in the game.

I'm happy with the roster especially with my favorites like Jax, Green Lantern and Darksied making it in. Wished Mileena could have made it in but hey your character doesn't always make it in and there's only so many hours in the day i rather worry about college and work than on weather or not a character makes it into a game. I'm pretty mellow.

I'm happy because my two favourite characters got in. Kano and Kahn.

I wish people would give Kano a break. I admit I'm mainly keen because of the newer Australian take on him but he has other good qualities.

I just love the pure grittiness of him and his survival skills in the cannon. He has had multiple takes on him throughout the MK story. He has been a greedy thug from the underworld, a bloodthirsty psychopath against Sonya, a competent military leader, and perhaps a bit of a cowardly minion. Armageddon always hinted at some deeper qualities with his routs to the black dragon. This looseness allows multiple takes on his character in the future and I'm glad his survived this long. I also think how brutal Kano appears really fits into the MK universe, with his lack of respect and dignity contrasting against other characters.

And I also want to stand up for Captain Marvel. Come on, he practically invented the word Shazam in popular culture, even if people aren't aware of it. I'm in high hopes that the character says it like crazy, during combat. I tend to like him from the humour factor I admit, so try to warm up to him by taking him less seriously.

In all I'm really warmed up to the cast. I know people are mainly bummed with the exclusion of characters likes Mileena, Reptile Kung Lou and but I see them as having too many similarities with other characters.

Kung Lou was leading the way to be the next generation Liu Kang, with a cool hat but a Shaolin Monk non-the less. Mileena's appearance and general fighting style has always linked with Kinana. Despite having a happy smile under the vale, she was the pink-chick-ninja non-the less. Reptile was also another ninja, being a cool lizard but another ninja. The same could be said about Sub-Zero and Scorpion but everyone knows they are the flagship characters. Because of the small roster, it was best to have a wide variety as possible so consumers that are less into Mortal Kombat can better relate to the game

The only characters I'm a tad less keen on are Lex and Barraka. I feel Barraka has never been explored as a fighter, with his rage and blades defining who he is. His fighting style and special moves have never levelled up beyond the fact he has cool blades. I would however warm up to him if they made him seem like he has reached a point behold insanity when he fights. Lex on the other hand has never been a fighter, and this is a fighting game. He has been in power suit but that has never been a traditional trait of Lex. They should have just used him in the story-line rather than have him as a fighting character.

With those complaints aside, I'm happy.

I'm quite content with the roster. Too bad about Cage and Reptile. Am a bit curious about Luther - what can he do? Apart from whacking Superman with a green glowing stick (that is if he had the green glowing stick in the first place!) he can't even afford a decent wig.

My point is, the guy can't fight for nuts!!!!!

I really didn't expect Baraka to be in, out of all. IMO he's too violent for MKvsDC. Baraka is bloodshed and gore, why put him in a "T" game? He is one of my favorites, don't get me wrong but I too thought the likes of Reptile or Cage would have been more fitting.

Anyway I'm wondering how his fatality will turn out. I'd imagine something like having his MKII head decap re-animated to slit the throat of his victim and let some blood gush out.

This game is officially now being used as either a coaster, Frisbee, paperweight, or microwave plate by me. Normally I don't take too many pot shots at Midway, but they really... and I mean REALLY dropped the ball on the MK side of the roster. Sorry, but characters that actually make sense for the game are better picks than those that have nostalgia value.

I guess there was no room for Cage, but Shao Kahn was a suprise. Baraka is an old school favorite, so it makes sense he is on this one. It looks like Kitana will have something for the Mileena fans.

I would like to take this opportunity to lol at all the people who thought people like Kabal would be in this game.

You know, that's something I've been wondering too! Everyone seems to be assuming that all these fave characters are going to be available via DLC, but what if there IS no DLC? None of the posts, interviews, or mkasts have said anything about it, except for a kind of dismissive remark made by one the guys in one of the mkasts, which seemed to indicate to me they didn't want to let fans know about it yet (a surprise for the future), or they're not going to have it. (I can't recall which mkast it was but if I had to guess I think it was the second one. It's late for me right now, so I'll check into it later!)

Boon has gone on record as saying that it's "something they're looking into". Believe me, they're not gonna miss the opportunity to milk every penny they can from this game. DLC will happen.

I think the roster is probably fine for whatever storyline they came up with already.

Before we go crazy here,it would probably make more sense to play through the story mode of the game and see what story line they have and see if those nonplayable characters pop up.Maybe Reptile will be in the story mode(non playable get over it)and maybe some others will.They might be in the story mode and we might find out why their not playable(killed off in the story?)Or on the set of VH1's, Where are they now special?

Anyways,most of us are waiting for MK9(Real MK)so this game shouldn't bother most of us.

Two things I wanna know for example.

Will they have the Theme from Superman(John Williams) and Batman(tim burtons?)And in my own personal opinion I think it would be cool to hear the MK theme from the movie at the start of the story mode or intro of the game itself.

I love the roster with the exception of lex luthor. I really thought that they would goes wild and put lobo in it. Well I know who my beat dummy is going to be. LOL

sonicherosfan1- Midway has said from the start that DC has asked them to shy away from the movie versions of their charactars, i'd assume that'd go for their respective theme songs as well.

Well I know about the character versions but the themes?Seriously?That sucks Detox.Oh well,I am sure they will have some cool theme or something.

I really wish this game wouldn't have much of a story like the Capcom Vs. games. Instead of putting characters in there that barely anyone as any love for, simply because they help the story, they could've put all the fan favorites in there.

No Kung Lao and Reptile is freaking blashphemy.
