I'm actually surprised that Vogel managed to cough up something worth reading. Nitara's bio is definitely one of the better ones that I've read, but that's still damning it with faint praise.

Nothing here but a continuation of the praise this bio has already received. Giving us an Ashrah/Nitara feud is smart and effective but nothing anyone saw coming.

I'll agree with RazorsEdge about the Kriss's "evil" properties being a matter of perspective. Like Anne Rice vampires, Nitara doesn't see herself or her people as "evil", just exercising the prerogative of a superior race to prey on the weaker people; of course, though, a sword devoted to eradicating evil would draw its bearer to a realm dominated by vampires. I hope the team keeps the story in this ambiguous state and doesn't instead have Ashrah as a zombified zealot who's clearly in the wrong. Conflict is more interesting when it comes from a clash of personalities rather than plot-device mind-control, and the feud here makes sense without one party being manipulated under false pretenses.

Does the word "moroi" have any significance elsewhere? The online Japanese dictionaries are telling me it means "fragile" and "sentimental" (the quality of being a softy, as it were); the first meaning sort of fits, but it's an odd word to use.

****

ETA: I also like how the bio accentuates that Nitara's cunning is her biggest weapon - she's not powerful enough to take Ashrah head-on, but she's smart enough to understand she's big enough bait (from her new-found renown among the vampire ranks, presumably) to lure Ashrah away and keep her people safe.

It's a kind of vampire in Romanian folklore, apparently.
Kudos to Sub-Zero_7th for the heads-up.

I'm not really a Nitara fan however this bio as well as Onaga's and Nightwolf's bio are the best bios so faf hands down. It seems that Nitara's ending in MKDA is actually canon. We now know what the name of the vampire realm is (That way I can finally start and finish my mortal kombat fanfiction (that has some trinity blood and blood+ references in it) once and for all now). Other than that, it seemslike its gonna be demons vs vampires though. I wonder if Moloch's bio will be next. If not his then hopefully Reprile's, Quan Chi's, or Liu Kang's bio will be next.

Ashrah's bio is going to be interesting.

But its wierd, because she wanted to kill Ermac, Noob Saibot, and Quan Chi, but none of them are vampires.

Or does she think she was attacking them, but actually a vampire? Its kind of odd because it doesn't really add up. Its not like Ashrah is specifically trying to kill vampires. In fact she is more invested in trying to take out the non-vampires. In her ending she wants to take out Quan Chi, who definitely is not a vampire.

Well, in order to purify herself, Ashrah has to kill anything that is evil (I think). And I guess according to the Kriss, Vampires are evil, so she probably killed some before. Who knows?

So I guess this is a bit of contradictory in this bio, because if Nitara is trying to destroy the Kriss, that means that she will, in a way, stop Ashrah from purifying herself. At the same time, help her because in reality (according to Nitara's bio) the Kriss takes control of the person that possess it. So she is helping Ashrah, in some kind of way. However I guess in Ashrah's opinion, she(Nitara) wouldn't be helping her by destroying the kriss because Ashrah thinks she is purifying herself.

It's a good bio; I'm pretty pleased with the new feud we have now. Not everything is in black and white anymore, which makes things a lot more explosive. I liked Ashrah a lot before, and now Nitara is also up there in my favorite characters. I pretty much agree with Queve on all points.

One question, though. I assume Ashrah got out of the Netherealm by the Kriss. If it's just a weapon used to killing vampires, exactly how did she leave the Netherealm by killing demons? The correlation of vampires and demons doesn't hold much weight since they are specifically listed as two separate species. Is the weapon a vampire slayer or does it actually purify someone, and it's not bluffing the wielder?

However, it states that they had enjoyed relative peace because there was no "vampire wielder"--does this mean Ashrah (and demons in general) are connected to vampires, or did someone they weren't expecting (not a vampire) get a hold of Datusha, and it was just worded oddly?

Dorado75,

I agree with you that most of the endings are stupid but I disagree that they should tailor the bios to better fit them. I'd much prefer a creative bio like Nitara's to a relatively unispired attempt to fit the ending like Jarek (although even that bio wasn't "bad"). The more creative they get the better IMHO. The endings in MK have never really been all that important anyways, aside from a handful in each game.

My bad I guess u misunderstood me, I wouldn't be mad if the endings were cut from the storyline at all, in fact, I wish they were. Those were the worse endings mortal kombat has ever had. I was wondering if they were gonna cut the endings just because they don't fit with some of the bios BUT I would much rather have the bios be cannon then the endings

True, I suppose the endings really sucked in MKA. Reminded me a lot about the last episode of konquest though... ^^
I wouldn't mind if the bios had little to do with the endings. As we can see with Nitara's bio for example.. it rocks!
